......Aaaaaaaand the game has to be postponed due to other peoples' illnesses this time, unplanned family events, no one available to drive my player from south of Memphis, Tennessee here (he's had like 5 strokes since 2013), and one guy who is in Africa for his job got his trip extended by three weeks unexpectedly.

I am gonna make those snacks lament so hard when we get this thing going!

GAH!

Greetings, fellow droogs! What are the plans for this weekend? I'm playing in a friend's brand new all-Goblin campaign Saturday afternoon. I'm a week behind on the start of the adventure, but they're just gonna love Buck the Gardener!

We are getting our new puppy on Sunday! Also our new PnP group will continue meeting Sunday afternoons/evenings. We're playing a 5e game set in Ravenloft.

I had to run to the DMV unexpectedly today. And I have to say: They do a great job. Everyone likes to dunk on them, but I've always had a fine experience. It took 20 minutes from the time I walked in to the time I walked out. Hell, I couldn't get that kind of service at a chain hardware store or Best Buy. Now I'm spending my afternoon figuring out if there's somewhere I can post a positive review of the experience because dammit, things are actually pretty good.

Other than that, not quite sure what's on the agenda. Going to run through the woods tomorrow morning. Like, on a trail intentionally, not because I'm being chased by a ax-wielding maniac or anything. I don't run fast enough for them kind of shenanigans.

I gotta get caught up on some writing, since mid-week had a lot of distractions to deal with. I'm working on a novel where Harry Houdini and H.P. Lovecraft team up to fight eldritch horrors in 1920s America. First part's up on the Wattpad if that's a thing anyone has (under a pen-name, which I use for the pulpier stuff I write). I'm having fun with it, which is a nice change. I got burned out after the last novel and last year was dry creatively. So it's nice to be enjoying it again.

Not much going on this weekend. I travelled for work this week, which was exhausting in its own right, but then I had to catch up on all the stuff I missed, so I'm ready to do jack all this weekend.

This is the 2nd thing of yours that I've saved the link to that I might get the chance to read some day!

Had a leak under the kitchen sink last week. Turns out it had caused damage all through the island. So a week later, they have demolished the drywall and cabinets, waiting on insurance to cut a check for rebuild. At least we can maybe convert the cabinets to drawers!

Donated plasma last week, going in tomorrow for the third round. Hoping they don't blow my veins like they did Monday.

Sunday might be some Blood on the Clocktower with our friend that purchased the game. I've played on the app a couple times, we will see how in person goes. Especially not being a house that goes out for social deduction that much.

I'll probably visit our local plasma place next week, myself.

I had an appointment to give blood in July, but they sent me away, as my iron levels were too low. I'll try again in October.

Omniously non-specific about why… Is Cal a vampire? That’s certainly what I told that National Enquirer reporter…

I successfully donated today! So I feel less bad about them paying me for the failed attempt last time.

Follow-up to the DMV story. I have a friend who works for the state department of transportation. So I texted him "Hey, I've been trying to figure out who I can email to tell them what a great job the DMV did."

*lengthy pause*

"I've literally never had anyone ask that question. Let me ask around."

*four hours later*

"I've talked to a bunch of people and no one else has ever had anyone ask where someone can say something nice about the DMV. There apparently is no way to do that. Here's a direct email address of a guy, but we're all pretty confused by the request to be honest."

That's amazing.

I wonder if any of those folks your friend talked to are expecting a prank.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Right? Even the whole time I was writing the email, it was hard not to hear it sarcastically. "Thanks for doing such a great job. No, I really mean it. This is not trolling. Seriously."

Still sounds like trolling. :)

Is there a term for taking a nap inside a nap? Like... napception?

Because that's what I want to do this weekend.

The city I live in has a population of about 72K. Our DMV, the "Office of Driver Control", has always been really efficient and fast moving. I see the trope of the snail's pace DMVs and thank my lucky stars ours isn't like that.

But, moving on. What's going on this weekend? The game I was supposed to play in last week didn't go on, so I'm still sitting here, staring forlornly at dice. Tonight or tomorrow my ex is coming over for Chinese food and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" as she's several episodes behind and the season finale was last night (I sure miss seasons that lasted 26 episodes instead of ten).

Anyway, that's the weekend here at Sweet Home Calabama!

PF2 is back on Sundays, and we've levelled up to 19th. 10th level spells...

Got a video game night with the guys from work. We’ll see how that goes, but I’m not turning down homemade BBQ.

Sunday will be more puppy training, then we should be back to Strange Aeons to see how our interrogations with the Cassomir guard turn out.

We've reached level 3 in our 5e Ravenloft game, survived a train wreck, a fight with a giant aberrant hermit crab using a sarcophagus as a shell, and a fight with the possessed train locomotive. Then the train's operator ditched us in the haunted forest under a moon gunning for Majora's Mask status.

Might be getting our PF1 group started back up this coming week, depending on IRL factors.

And of course NWN stuff continues going strong. Just wrapped up my first plot after the Big Move yesterday.

We got our new puppy this past week! His name is Kibeth (spoilers in article if you care) and he is about 7 weeks old now. Housetraining has been a tiring ride. His playpen arrived today though, so now he has a place he can chill while I'm working around the house or cooking or bathing or whatever, and I don't have to worry too much about him getting into things he shouldn't.

Scint has been working with some of her fellow teachers to put together a trivia night in or near the school, so will likely be attending that if possible.

I'm dealing with a character (Harnmaster, not PF2) who has some forty spells in his grimoire. He's also got a problem: some months ago, trying to learn a new spell, he critically failed his casting roll, suffering a spell misfire that knocked out everyone in the chantry. He woke up first, so no one noticed that he just wandered off -- because the trauma caused him to lose his memory and his ability to speak and also to cast spells or to consciously use any of his arcane talents. So now he's in another country making a living as a teamster. Oh, and somebody he met along the way stole his stuff when they discovered he wouldn't be able to rat them out.

The question is whether his colleagues at the chantry will figure out that he's still alive (most think that he's dead or transported to some other world altogether) and will try to find him.

Oh, I always wanted to be a Teamster. So lazy and surly...

Hey all! What's shakin'? Not much happening here this weekend. The roommate is a roadie for my son's band and they're leaving tomorrow until Sunday evening. I'll probably do some catch up on the housework and deal with some black mold that's trying to get a foothold in my bathroom. Other than that I'll be tweaking the opening game of my new campaign to run as both the debut and my annual Halloween game for later in October.

How about y'all?

Work tomorrow, up to see the folks on Sunday, game night on Monday.

Things are quiet here. Got a meetup at the card shop to play some rounds, but beyond that I'm free.

Kirth Gersen was a poster on these forums, and a friend. He passed away recently, so Saturday I'm going to a memorial service for him.

I'll probably do some extra work this weekend, because a thing that was supposed to go smoothly is not going smoothly. Other than that, it's mostly quiet around here.

Holy hells. I remember him, he was one of the first people I learned to recognize when I first started posting on Paizo. I followed his Kirthfinder project and a lot of his other ideas for years.

My condolences to his friends and family.

Ach! Sorry to hear that - rest in peace, Kirth.

Oh my goodness. I followed his Kirthfinder project for a long time.

It's nice hearing that people remember Kirth!

The service was nice. I talked a bit about how we was creative and detail-oriented, and that he liked tackling large projects, and Kirthfinder was primarily what I was thinking of when I said that. When I was looking to find an in-person gaming group back in 2009, I found Kirth and a few other players from the area here on the forums. Let me just say that learning to play Pathfinder by learning to play Kirthfinder is not a good way to learn Pathfinder. :) TOZ was also in that game, actually. I believe he's the one who first termed Kirth's houserules as "Kirthfinder."

Over the years, Kirth and I stayed in touch. Our daughters are the same age, and we've hung out together using playdates as an excuse, but sometimes it would be just the two of us grabbing lunch or a drink.

Anyway, after the service, I joined the family and some of their friends for lunch, which was also a nice way to send him off. RIP, Erik.

My plan for the foreseeable future is to nurse this cold until it goes away or kills me, whichever comes first.

It's making my teeth ache. The ones I no longer have.

Apparently it's going to rain nigh-on forever this weekend. Not going to stop me from hiking. If I get swept away in a flash flood, avenge me. AVENGE MEEEE!

Other than that, not sure what's happening. There's a big old pile of entropy sitting around I probably should do something about. But that sounds like... effort...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

And hiking requires zero effort? I'm all about economy of motion but I'm not seein' it.

Um... how? Like, who do I get angry at that I can do something against? Cuz I'll do it, just you wait and see.

I’m pretty sure that if Thor smites you with his hammer, you get to go to Valhalla.

So all the giants he smote end up in his home? Sounds like a bad way to get rid of enemies.

I think obviously the culprit here is hydrogen. Sure, sure, you could argue that oxygen is the big atom in the molecule, but I really think if we just wipe out all the hydrogen, the flash flooding will take care of itself.

It'll take some time and maybe a little money, but if something's worth doing right, it's worth destroying 90% of the atoms in the visible universe.

All right. Let me know if you die in the flash flood. If you do, I'll handle it.

I appreciate that. I'm fairly sure my phone can probably manage some kind of notification... hmmm... iVenge... that seems like a legit app I should totally install...

Oops. I was out of town all day yesterday and forgot it was Friday.

What's happening, everyone?

No Blood on the Clocktower this morning, thanks to our storyteller with the premium pledge being out. Might pledge to let me run games whenever.

Cyz has her Scion game tonight, should be exciting from what I hear. The pups will have a play date while that’s going on.

Tomorrow has Strange Aeons continuing, we’re doing something for the magistrate in Cassomir while we wait on equipment commissions to be finished and then we’re off to Katheer.

Monday night should be game night while my brother is traveling and our other player has 5E.

We're going to the big African supermarket with my mother-/sister-in-law tomorrow.

I shall be looking out for Mighty Malt and Eagle Stout, if it can be had.

A holiday week this next week in China, so several of our players are out of town this weekend so no Ravenloft game.

We're possibly going to a boardgames night this evening, with one of the prospective players for a future PF1 game.

Night Brunch listening to Midnight Burger tomorrow morning.

Kibeth has his first vet appointment tomorrow afternoon. Shots and deworming.

Scint has the week off due to said holiday so we're going to be Doing Stuff throughout the week, though the specifics aren't yet determined.

They had Mighty Malt, and Ultra Malt, and Viva Malt, and Super Malt, and Maltino, and Malta Guinness. Which is the maltierest?

Maltino?
