I Cast "Find the Path"

Off-Topic Discussions

It's been a long time since I really bothered with an RPG Forum. Back when Wizards of the Coast had a forum I was pretty active on it, but that was a long time ago at this point, isn't it?

Anyway, I was known as Escef there, and was just wondering if/how many familiar names/personalities I'll find around here. Or if anyone recognizes me (which would be flattering).

I just started poking around here today after redeeming a Humble Bundle I purchased in March of last year.

I think i was there. A loooong time ago.

I barely ever used the Wizards forums, but I had the same handle there that I do here as well as ENWorld. But after the chatter turned to 4e I stopped frequenting it. My group and I decided to stay with Pathfinder as long as we continue to game so I gravitated here.

Here is all I know.

I was over there for a while, but I really didn't post outside of the big "Let's Make Homebrew Vestiges" thread that went up after Tome of Magic came out at the tail end of the 3.5 era. Unless you happened to be one of the ten or so people who were regularly active in that thread, I probably didn't cross paths with you.

People like me! 8D

My range on that site didn't extend much beyond that, either. Some, but not much.

Don't speak that way about the King of the Crosstrade!

I was in the old forums there. Too long ago to even remember what name though.

I mostly lurked on Candlekeep.

Gleemax, anyone? I was a forum moderator there for a while.

What's funny is that totally rings a bell, but...that's about it.

I was heavily involved in RPG.net's Motivational Poster Thread From The Abyss (you know, the one that was originally locked because it had become so massive it was starting to suck the whole site into its event horizon?) for a long time, until I went on a long vacation in 2009, forgot my login information, and b~&$!+$sed up my reset attempts. By the time I could make it back on, I'd lost track of the threads.

I'm NotExactlyHuman.

Yeah, Gleemax sounds oddly familiar, but I can't recall anything about it.

The only thing I ever followed on RPG.net was the "Worst Players Ever" thread. That got HUGE.

Now that I think about it, it may have been called "Gamer Horror Stories".

Gleemax was WotC's first foray into online forums. IIRC, it was the name of a monster on a Magic card.

Gleemax is the name for the mythical giant alien brain in a jar that secretly runs Magic: The Gathering R&D. He is said to occupy “The Forbidden Room” in an underground lair below the corporate offices. [1] It is an in-joke among the staff of Wizards of the Coast.

Gleemax.com

Gleemax is also the name of the website launched in June 2007 by Wizards of the Coast. It started as a viral marketing campaign involving plastic brains. Randy Buehler later revealed the website would grow into a social networking site similar to MySpace or Facebook, but specifically for gamers. [6]

On July 28 2008, it was officially announced that it would be shut down, allegedly so the company could focus on other online projects. Critics think that it was due to lack of interest from the gamers. Since October 1 2008 the site redirects to Wizard of the Coast's homepage.

I have always been....NIGHTFALL! *waits for the applause*

Yeah, my time on there was juuuuuuuuuuuuust before things got converted over to the Gleemax forum. A LOT of people involved in that Vestiges thread jumped ship during that time, between the annoyance of the conversion process and the introduction of 4e.

Silver Crusade

I was on the Wizards forums maybe 2004-2006 ish. Same handle as here.

Welcome!

I tend to post at one forum (at most) at a time - giantitp before this, enworld a bit before that. Your name rings a bell but I doubt you'd know me.

Thanks Cal.

Avr,

My handle rings a bell or someone else's?

Sorry Thomas, I meant the OP, Escef. Yours whether Nightfall or Thomas Seitz I'm pretty sure I don't remember.

I pretty much always use this handle for gaming-related forums. I did make a few posts now and then on the WotC board for a year or two before they released 4e. After I realized I wasn't all that interested in 4e, I moved to Giant in the Playground and RPG.net, then came here. I've been spending at least 97% of my Internet gaming forum time here at Paizo ever since, although I do pop over to GitP and RPG.net every once in a while.

TOZ is eternal.

I don't remember the Wizards forum much, however.
