Just curious if (assuming I can convince my GM it's a fighting style) that I could use this to gain proficiency with a firearm? If so can I gain it will all of them as per the Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat? Or just one fire arm?
I'm looking to create a rapier and pistol wielding Inquisitor, specifically a Spiral Rapier, which is an exotic weapon as well. Should I consider skipping this and keeping my bonus feat for Amateur Gunslinger instead?
Love some thoughts and feedback.

They gain proficiency with up to two martial or exotic weapons appropriate to their culture.
i.e. two individual weapons, not two feats. There's nothing saying that they can't be firearms but you don't get proficiency with all firearms from the look of that.
If you're doing sword and pistol remember that reloading is a pain with only two hands and a weapon in each. There are ways of getting around it with prehensile tails, spells, magic items or class abilities but aside from the magic item (beneficial bandolier, IIRC) none of those work for a human inquisitor.

You could gain proficiency in one or two firearms, but not firearms in general.
It's important to keep in mind that Early Firearms are not really intended to be 'good' weapons without taking the Gunslinger class: Without the appropriate class features, they are awkward, expensive, slow firing, fairly short range weapons that don't actually do much damage and tend to misfire on a bad roll (Never forget you need some means of clearing the inevitable misfire).

I would have to disagree, because there is no pistol proficiency, it's an all or nothing thing. A case can be made since Weapon Focus requires separate weapons, but you don't take Exotic Weapon Proficiency with individual firearms.
Not normally, no, but this isn't normal. I see it as a specific exception because it only allows you to gain proficiency with a specific weapon (well, two, but you get the point).

Hmm... there's a lot here to agree with.
But some I disagree with.
Especially with refs that track ammo, firearms really are a "throw money" at the problem kind of solution.
Slow firing is easy to get around with a bandolero. Short range doesn't matter, at least in pfs - where 98% of the encounters will be at short range.
That said, I don't chosing to go two weapons just dilutes your focus.
