A little Unchained Barbarian confusion...

Rules Questions

So, when Raging, the Unchained Barbarian gives up the STR-based damage bonus from using a two-handed weapon, the bonus to STR-based skill checks, the bonus to CMB, the bonus to CMD and the Fortitude save bonus... and in return gets - what, exactly?

I see actual Temporary HP instead of 'Psuedo HP', but what else might I be missing?

Mainly, they get much simpler book-keeping. You don't have to erase a re-write your Strength and Constitution scores every 10 minutes or so.

Ugh.

Okay.

Grand Lodge

They get a +2 bonus on melee attack rolls, melee damage rolls, thrown weapon damage rolls, and Will saving throws as well as 2 temporary hit points per Hit Die, which are lost first instead of when rage ends.

The bonus on attack rolls does count to CMB, at least.

superstition stacks for unchained, they can get more DR, they have stances that can give them the fighter's capstone in their teens,

How do we know that?

Grand Lodge

Because all bonuses to attack also add to CMB rolls, as they are attack rolls.

When you attempt to perform a combat maneuver, make an attack roll and add your CMB in place of your normal attack bonus. Add any bonuses you currently have on attack rolls due to spells, feats, and other effects. These bonuses must be applicable to the weapon or attack used to perform the maneuver.

Superstition stacks with what?

I didn't want to get too much into comparing Rage Powers because in both instances there are obvious pro's and con's. I was comparing the benefits of the two versions of Rage since that is the class's signature feature.

Unchained rage stacks better with dexterity based builds. Not unusual to see people combine it with the unchained rogue.

The will save boost that rage gives you.

So just rage v urage urage looks worse as it's only redeeming feature is the actual temp HP rather than the diehard hp.

it's the rage powers that are better for unchained that gets it's raging state to be "better" than the core.

That's good to hear - with Stances requiring Move actions to activate and then not being stackable, and the absence of powers like Spell Sunder, I wasn't so sure... especially with the mitigation of potent feat combos like Raging Vitality and Raging Brutality.

It's not an upgrade mind you, but you can make some interesting Ubarbs, like a super tank with better DR than an invulnerable rager.

Unchained Classes at a glance:

Barbarian: Math made simpler. Power level basically the same.
Monk: More customizable and converted to full BAB. Power level slightly higher than core, but no higher than the good archetypes for the core monk allow.
Rogue: Given strong dexterity focus and more to do in combat, with nice skill based abilities. Power level increased.
Summoner: Made more complicated and less customizable. Power level greatly reduced, with nerfs to most mechanics.

The Unchained Barbarian is simpler and has an equal power floor to core Barbarian, but can't be optimized quite as high as the Superstitious Invulnerable Beast Totem Barbarian. However, it comes in pretty close.

Thats not true.

AoMF doesn't add to grapple, for example.
Weapon bonuses via enchantment only count if they are "relevant".

That would fall under "you currently have". You don't have a weapon's enhancement bonus if you aren't attacking with it.

you do realize you just said that the rules, like the actual written rules, are wrong, right? Like you realize what you just did?
