What would be a good Bard Archetype for my character?

Silver Crusade

So a while back i was working on a bard concept that i wanna revisit cause it felt incomplete.

The original idea was to have a chaotic good seductress/temptress Dancer bard of calistria, who has gone though some stuff, was picked up and raised by a varisian caravan and uses her sliver tounge and sexual wiles to gather information and expose/kill people that even entire organisations couldn't catch.

At first i really considered court bard, but then i realized for the kind of character i wanted, they wouldn't feel at home in the upper echelons of society, call her trampy, call her trashy, call her gaudy, but while she is more then capable of associating with royalty, she always felt more familiar with the....not so much lower ends of society, but the middle class, where proper etiquette isn't nearly as important.

I also wanted to give her a spell specialization that gives her a specific identity. Enchantment is the obvious choice, but then there's Illusion(Brazen Deceiver), Sonic(Sound Striker) and Fire(Flame Dancer and Flame Singer combo)

There is also Street Performer which fits the down to earth theme, and
Impervious Messenger Which is really good for the whole gather intel angle.

I Honestly can't decide, all i know is i want to keep versatile performance if possible, but if that either can't happen or there's a work around are there any suggestions that could work for this character? I will answer any questions you have for clarity.

An argent voice may be an option for you that could fit a lot of your wants.

However it alters versatile performance into making you one hell of a diplomat. The skill will make you able to convince people to talk when they wouldn't want to.

I should know, I used one as an example on how to beat 200 + DC

A detective format would be great too, but trades away versatile sadly.

Sadly i wanna emphasize the dancing part not so much singing, though im really loving Kintargo

Scarab Sages

If I were you, I might actually go with the Flame Dancer/Singer option. It may not directly tie into her seductress spiel, but it sounds fun, unusual, and evocative (pun not intended).

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The lotus geisha plays up the seductress and enchantment focus, as well as focusing on bardic performances (which could be dancing).

But it would also mean i need to figure out how a half elf from tian xia found their way to varisia.

Even though their a rare sight people from Tian Xia do move to Varisia. In the Rise of the Runelords there is an notable NPC (Ameiko Kaijitsu) and her family that is from there, so it's not impossible.

If there's anyone for who it's easy to figure out a reason for moving a long way, it's a bard who uses 'her sliver tounge and sexual wiles to gather information and expose/kill people that even entire organisations couldn't catch.'

Yeah I agree. Excepting maybe ranger or druid is there a more widespread class than bard for traveling? Can't think of any.

Even just learning FROM such people enough that you tailor your style after them, would be enough. And I think it's safe to say your concept means you've met with a lot of cultures.

You kind of have a point, still I'm kinda deadset with the belly dancer/Samba concept and i feel the 2 contrast, at least i don't see how i could make a geisha a belly dancer.
