Psychic bloodline and shared class spells, would it work?

Rules Questions

Hello everyone,

Psychic bloodline wrote:
Bloodline Arcana: Your sorcerer spells and spell-like abilities count as psychic instead of arcane. You use thought and emotion components instead of verbal and somatic components when casting your spells.

If i take levels in summoner, while having 1 level in psychic bloodline sorcerer, only taking spells also specifically on the sorcerer spell list, would i benefit from the psychic bloodline?

For example, Create pit.
It's a spell for both a summoner and a sorcerer.

It wouldn't matter, you picked Create Pit off your Summoner levels therefore it's a Summoner spell, not a Sorcerer, therefore your bloodline arcana wouldn't affect it.

Your sorcerer spells cound as psychic. Your summoner spells do not. It doesn't matter whether a spell appears on both lists; if you cast it with a sorcerer slot, it's a sorcerer spell, and similarly for other classes.

Note that if the bloodline arcana simply said "Your spells and spell-like abilities...", then per FAQ all of your spells and spell-like abilities from any source would be psychic. Presumably, the writers and/or editors thought of this. : )

Just wanted to be sure, such a pity.

Thanks for the replies.

FAQ seems to say the opposite to me. unless the arcana specifically states it only works for sorcerer spells it works for all spells from any class

In this case, the arcana does state that it only works for sorcerer spells.

For some reason FAQ link didn't open for me yesterday, so hence.

I can see why vhok says the above.
Because aren't spells that have a class tag on them, spells of that class?

Because if yes, that would suggest it might be applied.
For example, the arcane spell Blade lash is magus and bloodrager only.

The arcane spells Create pit, summon monster, have the sorcerer tag on them.

"Your sorcerer spells" are spells you cast by virtue of being a sorcerer--they expend sorcerer spell slots, etc. Spells that you cast as a summoner that happen to also be castable by sorcerers aren't relevant--they are your summoner spells, not your sorcerer spells.

This is pretty much the same discussion they had about a Magus's spell combat, and the conclusion is the same.

Very well.

It would have made a fun thing with PC casting from animal form.
Oh well.

me and him differ on what "specifically" "only" means don't take this as official its just some guys on the forums. show your dm the faq and the arcana and ask him.

Try comparing the Psychic bloodline with the Elemental one. The Elemental Bloodline Arcana clearly applies to any spells cast, so would include summoner and sorcerer ones. The Psychic Bloodline Arcana, on the other hand, is clearly sorcerer spells only. FAQ is addressing this.

Agreed with the above, Psychic Bloodline Arcana clearly applies to Sorcerer spells only.

Look up the magus FAQ on spell combat that explains that “magus spells” means “spells cast from magus spell slots on your magus class spell list” and why they use short hand of “magus spells”.
