Evil Eye question

Rules Questions

Just looking for some confirmation here, if Silence is cast and I (the Witch) am in the radius, can I still use Evil Eye? Does the spell require verbal components? I don't believe it does but just wanted to make sure.

evil eye doesn't require sound.

if you are silence you can't cast any spell that required verbal component, if a spell require no verbal component you can cast it, silence make you unable to speak not to move or cast magic, for that it need to be an anti-magic field or something similar

Perfect, thanks guys. Do any hexes require a verbal component?

Liberty's Edge

Unless I'm missing something here, Evil Eye is a supernatural ability, not a spell. So it doesn't require any spell components, verbal, somatic or material. It also doesn't provoke, so a good option if you're stuck next to an enemy.

Hex are SU so they don't need verbal/somatic/material component nor focus same for SP or EX (unless stated otherwise)

And, yes, this means that the cackle hex works even if nobody can hear it.

That's not really true.

Witch, Cackle Hex: Does my character literally have to cackle madly when I use this hex, or is that just flavor text?

Your character actually has to cackle—probably in a strong voice, akin to the volume and clarity necessary for verbal spell components.

Edit 7/19/13:
If the witch is in a silence effect, she can't use the cackle hex.
If the target is in a silence effect, it is unaffected by the cackle.
This may require some clarifying text in the next printing of the Advanced Player's Guide.

Well alright then.

As I read the rules, the cackle isn't a Component of the Cackle Hex (which makes sense since Su abilities don't have Components), but it is the specific action required to utilize the Hex.

Supernatural Abilities (Su): Supernatural abilities are magical attacks, defenses, and qualities. These abilities can be always active or they can require a specific action to utilize. The supernatural ability's description includes information on how it is used and its effects.
