my mauler just gained a new lvl and gets a new feat...

Advice

... I have been using it as a mount. and it has weapon finesse weapon, focus (gore), and mauler's endurance. I was wondering what feat you would suggest?

This is a home game.
And i am not allowed to use 3pp.

I was thinking maybe improved natural armor or Evolved Familiar for pounce. but the feat that gives extra HP per lvl like 3 for the first three lvls then 1 extra for every lvl after. I can't remember the name of that feat.

Toughness. Gain +3 hp, at HD 4 (of the creature) and every level after, gain another +1.

I suggest Power Attack, Improved Natural Weapon, or Armor proficiency.

How is your familiar gaining feats?

Yeah, I'm afraid you may not be doing things exactly as they are intended. Your familiar should only be gaining new feats, if you have some other class ability explicitly granting them to the familiar.

I have a feeling this is a mauler familiar, and also that Zainale is using the eldritch guardian fighter archetype, am I correct Zainale?

If this is the case, your familiar can use any combat feat you have that applies to it (so a dog could use Power Attack if you have it, but not Martial Weapon Proficiency, cause, no hands).

just wanting feat advice.

Toughness shouldn't work on two fronts. First, there shouldn't be a way to give your familiar this feat. Second, even if your familiar had this feat, it would be ignored, since the familiar's hit points are equal to half its master's hit points.

Now, if the master takes toughness, then the familiar would get half of the benefit, since its hit points are dependant.

This should be in the advice or discussion board.

oops I must have clicked the wrong link sorry. I meant to put this in general discussion.

is there a familiar guide that might suggest what feats to choose?

Probably not - as mentioned above, familiars don't normally gain feats unless you're using a house rule.

Irrelevant data is irrelevant. I miss clicked a forum link. I am not looking for rulings, sorry. I am looking for feats that might improve my familiars abilities. It gets a new feat. I am not questioning if it should or should not get a feat. Just that it has one and what might be the best choice for it.

What type of creature is your familiar? And which class is the master?

witch arctic hare

With that combo your mauler isn't going to be very strong in combat. I'd stick with defensive feats to help him serve as a distraction.

Dude, no need to get defensive. You can't blame us for wondering why your familiar is getting feats when this is the rules forum, and by the rules he shouldn't be getting feats.

How is it that your familiar is learning new feats?

it's still in the rules section.... I probably should not be getting these feats but who am I to argue with the GM?

Its not a rules question. Its a what feat should I choose next question. it was moved from general discussion to the rules forums. which was causing the whole rules discussion instead of the general help with choosing a feat that I wanted help with.
