You fluff em, we've crunched em

Advice

A sister thread to the, 'you fluff 'em, we crunch 'em, wherein one can bring ones fluff and members of the board will make the crunch for it.

In this thread one will bring their crunched character with rough to no idea of backstory and others will help fluff it up :) @Lady-J had the idea but to my knowledge it was not followed through, and I think it's a good idea and am board so I'm following it through.

So I'll kick things off.

I've recently made a Verdant Ghoran sorcerer who multiclasses into Swashbuckler as a gateway to Eldritch knight. The end result being he is a capable controller (effectively 18th level sorcerer) who uses conjuration and transmutation to control the field but is also able to turn into a tiny winged monkey and in the process become a powerful crit fishing fencer with Dex to damage and so fourth.

Normally I have little to no problem formulating a back story but in this case coming up with a story for my dexstrous and charismatic tree man who turns into a tiny flying swashbuckling monkey and can stop time is .. a bit tricky xD. It's just a bit too far from human for me to get into the headspace of you know? xD.

Honestly I can't even come up with a decent name for him. His alignment can be anywhere from neutral to neutral evil.

(Picking a name at random from a plant I like.)

As a Ghoran, Acacia grew up with the notion that their people were slow in intellect, particularly living in and around Nex, where intelligence was more strongly valued than raw strength or a powerful build. Angry and resentful at the status of his race, and the assumptions that they were 'less' somehow because of their former status as food and their sluggish intellect, Acacia wants to prove the world (or, at least, Nexites), wrong, that they can tap into magic as powerful as any wizard, and that magic itself isn't the end-all, be-all of existence, leading to a desire to synergize sorcery with martial skill, particularly the speed and grace of the swashbuckler, instead of the brute force and monstrous bulk sought after by the fleshforged horrors preferred in the war-creations used by the Nexian military.

With speed and skill to counter their lumbering guardians, and innate sorcery to match their book-taught wizardry, Acacia seeks to overturn the conventional wisdom among the Nexian elite that his people are just 'talking cabbage, barely fit to have escaped the dinner table, let alone think themselves our equals.'

Hmmm would you say he was vengeful? He sounds kinda vengeful. Not that that's a problem I just didn't imagine him as a hot tempered character.

Also I'm guessing he is chaotic neutral? Good idea on the name buy the way.

Not so much vengeful (although I suppose Acacia could be, if any of their relatives got eaten...), as surly and with a chip on their shoulder about how their race has been treated, and wanting to prove others wrong about Ghoran. Growing up in a culture that dismisses non-intellectual pursuits and idealizes wizards, in particular, Acacia would want to 'rollerskate uphill' a bit by showing off how much arcane mastery they can achieve without being a wizard, and how much they can improve on being a pure spellcaster by mixing it up with martial proficiency.

The first character I made for a campaign outside my normal group. I ended up leaving before it began because I didn't fit well with that group (related to the fact that I don't yet have half a backstory for that character, and having one was expected). Since a couple of the members of my normal group play martial near-exclusively, I thought this was my chance to play one.
Having an interest in natural attacks, I decide to go that route with a Bloodrager into dragon disciple.

I didn't feel like going primalist, so I wanted a race with a bite attack. Of the allowed races (ARG-only), there are two medium races with bite attacks: Kitsune and Tengu. Due to starting at level 4, the price of an agile AoMF was less of a cost than the tengu Con penalty.

I went with Blue as the colour because electricity is both awesome and effective.

My first martial build was a dex-based Kitsune natural attack Dragon Disciple. If that's any indication, I'm going to be here lots.

There was a blue dragon who lived in a desert. He associated with and provided protection to the local people in exchange for rather a lot of taxes. Over time he took on some of their culture, including a harem.

He really should have invested in Sense Motive.

A kitsune schemer worked with a thief to out-scheme the dragon and loot his hoard. She got out with enough gold to give her daughter a good dowry despite the blue scales. Her grandson, your father, went back to the desert to see what had happened there, and found the dragon has moved on but his descendants have formed a group of warriors who took over the dragon's role. He stuck around with the hope of getting you into the ruling group, but it turned out they had little respect for someone without the dragonly strength they aspire to and you were forced to leave despite your effectiveness in a fight. At least you've got their combat training and an amulet you inherited.

Alternately, your kitsune has a habit of getting drunk and doing stupid things. Really stupid things. This one time he climbed to the top of a cathedral steeple while wearing armor, during a thunderstorm, and screamed 'ALL GODS ARE BASTARDS!' He was struck by lightning of course but he survived, with an odd blue-white streak in his hair. Since then when he gets angry his shapeshifting goes haywire. He'd swear that an icon of Caydean Cailean smiled at him yesterday, but no one else present saw it.

Also he apparently won a magic amulet in that bet.

Okay I've had a thunk

I like the whole growing up in Nex where intelligence is key thing, and I like the name and the proving people wrong thing. I think I'm gonna change his temperament though.
To someone who poses as a diplomat trying to show that Ghoran's can use magic too and build relations.
At the same time he goes round being a flying monkey dashing vigilante :P (not the class)

Thanks for the inspiration :)

Okay i'll bite, and this is a doozy cus i have 6 for ya.

Gan Kaliph - Tiefling with oversized limbs trait with normal looking arms due to pass for human racial trait, goes around with an oversized greatsword and fullplate. Took the "Lone wolf" upbringing trait.

Hae Renvoi - Celestial sorcerer that maxed diplomacy, no ranks in bluff, with voice of the sibyl and merciful spell

Ace R. Knish - High con half elf chain-smoking, pesh addict with endurance and diehard

Lown Tiwalk - Sylph Empiricist investigator with mostly human, a stockpile of poisons and cane-sword and blowgun

Odessa Osm - Half-orc order of the sword samurai with TWF, and a horse named Mancipia

Omber P. Furl - Middle-aged Archon blooded aasimar cleric that is a nihilist. Has Fey Foundling and Warrior Priest feats and all the healing spells he can take.

Bonus points for anyone who can find a way to get them all in the same party.

An empiricist trades out every investigator class feature relating to poison. It's usually considered a good archetype because of that, few players find PF poisons useful.

I see Hae as a student at some religious school and Omber as one of his or her teachers. Omber's a nihilist because he's trained any number of pupils to go out and serve the church and heard of their untimely deaths. This time he's persuaded a favored pupil, Hae, to go out and find their own path, one that hopefully won't see them thrown into the meat grinder, and Omber's along to make sure of that.

Lown in this scenario might be a slightly shady character Omber used to forge some documents and who's decided now is a good time to leave town, Odessa and Gan might be hired guards/guides, and Ace... Ace might be a much less favored pupil than Hae but when he heard the arrangements being made he wanted in and Omber couldn't justify saying no.

A little thin but I could probably go into more detail if desired.
