Eldritch Scoundrel archetype and Human FCB

Rules Questions

A Human's favored class bonus for Rogue's is that they get 1/6th of a new rogue talent. I have two questions as to how this FCB interacts with the Eldritch Scoundrel archetype:

1) Eldritch Scoundrels do not get a rogue talent at every 4th level, starting at level 4 (and then 8, 12, 16 and 20), but can I pick this FCB even before I ever get the rogue talent class feature? That would mean I actually get rogue talents at levels 4, 6, 8, 12 (2), 16, 18 and 20.

2) Eldritch Scoundrels have a modified rogue talent ability in the sense that they can also select from the list of ninja talents. Does this mean I can also select a ninja talent whenever I would normally get a rogue talent from the human's FCB?

Thanks!

1) You are allowed to select favored class bonuses that do not grant you any immediate benefit. A normal vanilla rogue doesn't get a rogue talent until level 2, but there's no reason he couldn't start stacking up that favored bonus at level 1. So yes, your Eldritch Scoundrel can start taking the 1/6th talent bonus at level 1, and get his first full talent out of it at level 6.

2) If your PC has earned a rogue talent, he can pick any rogue talent whose qualifications he meets. If that includes a ninja trick, go for it.

1) No, you need to have the class feature first and have to take skill points or HP with your favored class until then. You'd get rogue talents at 4, 8, 9, 12, 15, 16 & 20.

2) Seems valid. You get a rogue talent, the FCB doesn't tell you what to do with it.

avr is correct, there's a FAQ on it. No investing in a FCB unless you have the bonus class feature already.

Rules quote from here (scroll down a little)

Occult Adventures wrote:
If an alternate favored class option modifies a class feature or ability, it can't be taken before the character has that class feature or ability. For example, if a class gains a class feature at 6th level, a character couldn't take a racial favored class option that applies to that class feature until 6th level, even if the benefit from that option wouldn't be high enough to add a bonus until a later level.

Technically not a FAQ, but it was something John Compton confirmed was the PDT position.

Related Point: Can I apply the aasimar or elf oracle's favored class bonus to a revelation I do not yet have? Can I do so for the aasimar bard’s favored class bonus?
No, when choosing which class feature’s effective level to increase, you can only select a feature that you already have. For example, an aasimar flame oracle cannot choose to improve the wings of fire revelation with her favored class bonus until she actually gains the revelation at 7th level or beyond; she could not start augmenting it at 1st level.

This isn’t actually a new rule. It’s just a clarification that I confirmed with the design team because it seemed that some folks were assuming otherwise.

And, as SlimGuage noted, it was confirmed in Occult Adventures.

I stand corrected.

Huh. So, would that mean that a Half-Orc Urban Barbarian could never take their racial FCB (as Controlled Rage replaces the Rage class ability)?

controlled rage counts as rage

Those FAQ are about FCB that modify a class feature. Gaining a new talent doesn't actually modify a class feature.
