What Are These Art Objects Anyway?

At the very end of Ultimate Equipment we find this list of art objects. Some of them are self-explanatory, some of them less so, and some are bizarre. What is an inverted soul gem anyway?

Do you know? If not, make something up. I think technically these are non-magical items, but what is a frozen vampire soul if it's not magical?

Grade 6 Art Objects

  • Frozen vampire soul (7,000 gp)
  • Mithral-inlaid unicorn horn (7,000 gp)
  • Crystallized god breath (10,000 gp)
  • Essence of truth (10,000 gp)
  • Globe of pristine air (10,000 gp)
  • Heart of the mountain (10,000 gp)
  • Inverted soul gem (10,000 gp)
  • Orb of living water (10,000 gp)
  • Shard of pure fire (10,000 gp)
  • Unmelting ice (10,000 gp)
  • Time jewel (11,000 gp)
  • Adamantine poiuyt (12,000 gp)

  • Frozen vampire soul (7,000 gp)
The soul of a vampire who is, at present, frozen solid. OR the animating spirit of a vampire forcibly removed into a life-like ice sculpture of the vampire that never melts.

  • Mithral-inlaid unicorn horn (7,000 gp)
Along the grooves of the horn, mithral has been delicately traced to form absolutely stunning patterns.

  • Crystallized god breath (10,000 gp)
A god coughed up a hairball.

  • Essence of truth (10,000 gp)
A concept given physicality, this object is what it is, and can never be anything other than what it is. Immune to illusions or effects that attempt to alter it's form. What is it's shape? Like I said, a concept. How is this so difficult to follow?

  • Globe of pristine air (10,000 gp)
Straight from the centre of the Plane of Air, forged when the first *air bits* formed into the plane. Problem being, there is a nigh endless quantity of these in existence but because they are a source of magical power for air elementals, they don't leave the plane very often.

  • Heart of the mountain (10,000 gp)
Some douchebag dwarf stole a mountain's heart and pawned it off to the next human rich enough and gullible enough to pay for it. Has no imherently interesting properties.

  • Inverted soul gem (10,000 gp)
It is like an inverted snowglobe.

  • Orb of living water (10,000 gp)
Please let this water elemental out of its cage and put it back into the elemental plane of water. Seriously, this is just mean.

  • Shard of pure fire (10,000 gp)
Unlike the unpure fires of man, this fire burns without fuel or oxygen.

  • Unmelting ice (10,000 gp)
    Someone made dry ice.

  • Time jewel (11,000 gp)
It tells you it is time.

  • Adamantine poiuyt (12,000 gp)
    ERGH IT HURTS MY HEAD.

  • Holy text written in saint's blood (12,000 gp)
    That poor saint...

  • Mithral tribar (12,000 gp)
PLEASE STOP MAKING THESE NON-EUCLIDEAN OBJECTS. THEY ARE MAKING ME GO INSANE.

  • Ethereal tapestry (13,000 gp)
A tapestry that exists within the ethereal plane at all times, even when brought to another plane. It is otherwise invisible to creatures who cannot see invisibility. It is...kind of pointless.

  • These could be art objects with those various titles. It wouldn't break verisimilitude having a painting or statue titled, "Essence of Truth."

no, a painting ought to be titled "This IS NOT Truth".

Essense of truth. A sealed box that can only be unsealed when it changes ownership for 10000gp. When opened contains a note in beautiful lettering...

"You didn't put any ranks on appraise, did you?"

I would love to have an ethereal tapestry in my home. It would be hanging on the wall just as people enter the house.

"Welcome, do you like my ethereal tapestry? It costs 130 years of income" I say pointing towards a wall with a single nail in it and nothing else.

    Ethereal, pathfinders 'modern' art.

Okay, so an adamantine poiuyt and a mithral tribar are impossible noneuclidean objects. Not necessarily magical, just impossible. An artist would have to be top notch to create one.

The Heart of the Mountain is a large block of incredibly hard and dense stone interlaced with thousands of hairlike veins of bright metal. The stone is the size of a dwarf and is carved into an octahedral shape representing the eightfold nature of a man's life. Strangely the block weighs ten times more than one would expect.

Me, I hang them up in the doorway to my room so that anyone casting magic missiles at me has them strike and impact on the otherwise invisible tapestry just like I had a shield spell up and anyone who charges into the room at me who has a [force] effect on, like mage armor or bracers of armor, get all tangled up in it.

Tribar in Perth, although this one is probably aluminum rather than adamantium.

A Time Jewel is an exquisitely cut and polished tourmaline crystal of the deepest black grading into vivid green. The cut of the crystal is so precise and of such craftsmanship it amplifies the stone's natural vibrations, causing it to ring with the purest tone when exposed to sunlight.

    That's impressive...but not impossible.
