I would suggest an Oread with the pass for human trait for the good stat placement and natural armor, downside is you'll be slow.
second race suggestion come down to anything human, such as half-orc, half-elf. Because the human FCB is a free feat every 6 levels.
stats you should be trying to get at least are near
18/12/14/x/14/x
This will make you hit well, have max dex for fullplate, fine HP, and a decent start on your fervor pool. int and cha aren't used by the warpriest abilities.
If you take arsenal chaplain archetype your blessing choice is done for you.
Grab a nice two handed weapon, greatsword or lucern hammer for example, full plate, and go do town.
Extra traits feat for fate's favored as a trait gives you +1 to your divine favor bonus.
lv3 grab power attack.
Congrats, your feats required for combat are done, fill feats with stuff you want. Toughness early on isn't a bad choice.

Chess Pwn summed up the Warpriest build pretty nicely. While a greatsword or lucern hammer are the ideal weapon options, don't feel you're limited to them. Sacred weapon will increase the damage of your chosen weapon to the point it hits equally to a greatsword, so if you want to use your deity's favored weapon, you'll have the option to do so, as long as you have Weapon Focus with that weapon.

I have GMed for this build and the move speed is painful. Tribal scars raptor helps a lot. UMDing Longstrider is great, though having the stats for it can be hard.
Arsenal chaplain archetype is great because that can increase your speed as well.
I only offer the warning because I have ran a scenario where long stretches of combat were dedicated to the main damage dealer try to get close.
Not a deal breaker just something to watch out for.
