The official Pathfinder Society guide (now quite dated in other ways, too) doesn't include a generic Prestige award that it really should include: raise animal companion. Can we please get some official errata for this, and how much should it cost?

The same could be said of most of the generic Prestige awards - nonetheless, they're on the list as options. This one's in the same vein, and needing a companion raised is a much more common situation than, for example, being struck blind or deaf (which I've never seen inflicted on PCs even once in all my years in Pathfinder Society).

I vote no.
Raise animal companion is not a core spell so the text would need to be repeated which would take up more space.
Lets not bloat the guide with extra options because they would be nice.
The guide is rarely printed. As a PDF does anyone even care what the page count is?
Personally I was in favor of this 2 weeks ago and remain in favor of this now.

Not necessarily - you'll notice that a lot of the new books (Occult Adventures as one outstanding example) reference boatloads of non-core material without reprinting it all.

It isn't just "nice." Being able to spend Prestige to get true seeing on demand would "be nice." This makes sense, and is totally in the same vein as existing generic Prestige awards.

Yes. Because people keep complaining that it is too long to read it all, so they don't read any of it.

Admittedly, some of it is gratuitous "toddler-proofing" telling players not to bully or cheat. Tabletop RPGs have never been meant for the LCD, they shouldn't have to put that in there, should they?

Paizo rarely worries about PFS campaign rules when publishing Pathfinder books.

I'm not sure what that has to do with OP guide bloat.

A) It makes the case that new options can be added without any "bloat" beyond a superscript citation of the book it's in.
B) I was, admittedly, thinking of this (which desperately needs a new edition anyway).

Most tables have access to Ultimate Magic, or its contents online. The fact that not 100% of everybody will be able to access it is no reason not to make it an option for the vast majority.
I can't understand why you're so adamantly opposed. Saying "we shouldn't make it an option because CORE can't use it" is tantamount to saying "we shouldn't allow ANY non-core material."

AFAIK you can always free/dismiss and find a new companion or replace a companion with a 24h prayer ritual.
So this question is about a char being attached to his companion that much that he would want to raise this specific one?
There are some unique named familiars on chronicles, where if the familiar dies, it is just gone, you can't replace it.

1. Yes, partly. I would much rather pay to raise my friend than to recruit a new one.
2. A new companion does not have all the tricks known that the old one did. Some classes (like cavaliers) have even more penalties to the new animal for a time.3. The spell also works on familiars. Which have significant costs associated with recruiting a new one. Having to recruit a new familiar is horrendous for a witch.
