"Hacking" a construct

Rules Questions

Are there any skills that could be used to take control of(ie; hack) a construct. Could you use bluff, disguise and/or umd to command a construct to obey you? How about spells?

Control Construct is what you're looking for ;)

Thanks, there is a high level spell that can hack a construct, what about lower level options. I am particularly interested in thoughts about using skills to fool/control constructs.

Not really no.

There's a lower level spell in a module, Apparent master. The text there implies that skills won't do - there's a magical bond involved.

Liberty's Edge

If the construct happens to be a robot there are Infuse Robot and Rebuke Technology.

The Robojack item and the Technomancer Command Robot ability are also both applicable.

That spell doesn't appear to have a solution to most golems' magic immunity, since it allows spell resistance.

The Impossible Bloodline for the Sorcerer class allows the caster's mind-affecting (compulsion) spells to affect Constructs and treats them as living creatures.

Scarab Sages

There is a Ranger Archetype in People of the River which gives a variant of Wild Empathy called "Reprogram" which essentially allows diplomacy with constructs. It's actually a pretty cool class archetype.

Otherwise, no on mindless constructs. Robot subtype constructs have INT scores, so could potentially be reasoned with.

Beyond that, the above mentioned Impossible Bloodline and the spells listed above could work.

Greater Object Possession also allows construct hacking and come online quicker for psychics as a level 6 spell than control construct

Thanks, there are more options than i thought.
