Based on the "What are you currently reading?" thread in books.

I just finished Continuum, Voltron, Season 1 of Kill Joys, Chronicles of Shannara, and Stranger Things.

I have 1 episode left of Dark Matter.

What are YOU currently binge watching?

Does it count as "binge" if the show is still producing new episodes and you're all caught up and watch the new episodes as they come out? Because it's been a while since I've found an already-finished series to plow through.

Currently, I'm keeping up with RE:Zero, Orange, and Sweetness and Lightning.

RE:Zero is about a boy who is inexplicably transported to a fantasy world, gets brutally murdered (as in, disemboweled), then "resets" to a point shortly after he arrived in the world. It's sort of like if Groundhog Day was bloodier and darker. Gets pretty gruesome and heavy at times.

Orange is about a high school girl who one day discovers a letter addressed to her, allegedly written by her future 30-something-year-old self, asking her to do some things differently to avoid some regrets. Lotta feels in this show.

Sweetness and Lightning is about a recently-widowed father taking care of his kindergarten-aged daughter, specifically in his attempts to learn to cook good meals for her. A really sweet show, and the kid is friggin' adorable. No idea what that title's supposed to mean, though.

In that case, I could recommend a couple I've already finished.

Yona of the Dawn is a refreshingly original fantasy story about a princess who is chased from her castle when she sees the man she loved murder her father for the throne. It's very character-growth-oriented, especially with the title character learning what the real world is like and having to reexamine her understanding of reality. Sadly, it was inexplicably cancelled after only one season, kind of leaving you hanging (much like Firefly).

Erased is about a boringly ordinary guy who, for unexplained reasons, occasionally flashes back a few minutes in time to right before something bad happens (such as a truck hitting a pedestrian) and feels compelled to help. But then one day his mother is murdered and he flashes back 18 years, to his own childhood. Caution: This one's high on suspense and deals heavily with child abuse and child murder. That might be a deal-breaker for some folks, so be aware.

One-Week Friends is about a schoolboy trying to befriend a girl he likes, who seems determined to not have any friends. For reasons explained later in the series, every Monday morning this girl loses all memory relating anyone she considers a friend, so she's decided to just not make friends. The show is mostly about them trying to find ways to be friends anyway. Very sweet and occasionally heart-wrenching.

I can't binge watch. I get burned out too quickly and lose total interest in the show. I watch a couple episodes at a time on Netflix then wait quite awhile before watching anymore. As much as I love "Daredevil" I'm only on episode 6 of season 2 at the moment.

Right now I am binging Clone Wars. Before that it was Walking Dead, Stranger Things, and doing a Game of Thrones rewatch.

Maybe do Vikings next, or pick back up on Hannibal (I had started around this time last year, but I do a lot of my binge watching around dinner time, and Hannibal was a bit much ever for ME at time).

Just started Stranger Things and I very much enjoyed the first episode.
I love how it feels like it was filmed in the late 80's but isn't obnoxious about being set in the 80's. I also like that the show has kids in the story making it light then swhitching it up pretty close to R rated territory without being gratuitous.

I am a premo network junkie so sorry most of what I watch isn't available on Netflix and Hulu. Though if Borgias (Showtime edition not Canadian starz edition) is available its worth a binge.

I'm through episode four of Fear The Walking Dead and Outsiders.

Love the cinematography of Fear The Walking Dead, especially how certain scenes and shots look like they came straight out of a graphic novel. Never seen nor read The Walking Dead.

Still not sure about Outsiders, it's kind of like Sons of Anarchy in the Appalachian mountains.

If anything, to me FTWD is more like the comic book than TWD show, even thought Fear is pretty much its own thing made for TV. Probably why it works.

Yeah I like that it actually fleshes out the background of the Star Wars Universe, brings in a lot of cool stuff from the EU into the new canon, and really does a better job foreshadowing Anakin's fall and the Empire's rise more than the actual prequels did.

Only thing that sometimes confuses me is the episodes being out of order.

Are you sure we aren't getting another season?

Because the manga is far from done, and by the time anime was finished I don't think there was enough for a second season (I may be wrong). Not to mention it is hardly unheard of for there to be some time between seasons in anime (I'm looking at you, Mushi-shi, which had 8 years or so between the first and second seasons, with no noticeable difference).

I have been bingeing the Tenchi shows. Tenchi in Tokyo, Tenchi Universe, just finished Ai Tenchi Muyo (it's still disjointed and awkwardly paced but is easier to enjoy when you can binge it than getting a 3 minute episode each day or so), and have started on Magical Girl Pretty Sammi.

Completed Fate/Stay Night, Unlimited Blade Works, and halfway through Fate Zero with my Texas brother. Interspersing Carnival Phantasm to recover. Assassination Classroom wrapped up Wednesday, and before that was Overlord and Madoka Magica. Not sure where we're going next, but I think Pet Girl of Sakurasou would be a nice lighter fare after ALL THE FEELS. (Did I mention we watched Your Lie In April before too?)

Hulu has been on subscription for a couple of years now. Now the subscription just became tiered. It's 2 bucks extra per month if you want to scrub commercials... and Hulu simply loads a ton of commercials on each show.

In my case, I watch a lot of anime via my Crunchyroll premium subscription. I pick a show and then watch it fairly quickly, moving onto the next one without hesitation. I try to watch a good mix of genres, and often go blindly (or at least, on nothing more than the series' description) into a new series.

The most recent one I finished (about two hours ago) was Beyond the Boundary ("Kyokai no Kanata"). It was...okay.

The premise is that, in the modern world, invisible monsters called "youmu" infect people, whereas there are also "Spirit World Warriors" - humans with the power to detect and defeat these monsters - who hunt them. The story revolves around a half-human/youmu boy who is immortal, but is otherwise an ordinary high school kid living an ordinary life...until an insecure-but-powerful Spirit World Warrior girl shows up to kill him.

It wasn't a bad show, but the plot is quite clearly cramped by being twelve episodes, and there's a lot of background setup that's hinted at but never given adequate exposition. Similarly, quite a bit of the secondary plot threads are only given cursory treatment at the end of the series, which burden the overall sense of resolution and mar what's otherwise an adequately fulfilling love story.

My wife and I binge watched Daredevil and all the seasons of Walking Dead, and then I binge watched Voltron. Looking forward to Voltron season 2.

I gotta say, I'd love to see Netflix relaunch Inhumanoids, which was one of my favorite shows as a kid. They did a great job on Voltron.

No it's been "free" that entire time, they just had an extremely small amount of content in comparison, I've been using Hulu literally since it launched, and yes, commercial free is worth it!

I'll second the $4/mo for commercial free Hulu being well worth it. I only have one show that is excluded (Agents of SHIELD) but even the exclusions are one at the start and one at the end - which you of course don't watch the latter

Well, Netflix and Disney recently made a deal that will give Netflix exclusive rights to films from Disney and it's subsidiaries, which kicks into effect in September. So Netflix will soon have Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm, and regular Disney movies. No clue if that extends to Rebels, but I am hopeful the arrangement will allow Rebels to pop up this fall.
