Bloodragers and Sorceror Items

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

8 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

A little while ago the Dragon Disciple was ruled to work with the bloodrager bloodline through the FAQ.

My Question is : Robe of arcane heritage, Does this item function with Bloodrager bloodline powers?

And for Clarity I would like this to Be FAQ'd.

currently nope. Bloodragers don't count as sorcerer bloodlines.

But I'll FAQ in the hopes that the answer changes the base rule.

No, they don't. The robe would be a lot stronger for Bloodragers than Sorcs, for instance, since it would always be granting a new power. (Plus, their powers are generally stronger, so allowing the robes would mean regularly granting early access to spells.)

From what I understand, the robe doesn't grant new abilities, it only causes abilities that you possess already to count as 4 levels higher.

Same way the gnome bloodrager fcb works.

Nah, the robe states that it's both for what bloodline abilities you can use and for their effects. (Making Sorcs the class with the best chance of seeing their capstone.)

But in that train of thought, don't bloodragers deserve that same privilage? In a lot of cases, bloodrager abilities aren't dramatically more powerful than those of sorcerers.

In fact with the robe, sorcerers can use their 15th level power in pfs, while bloodragers cannot use their 16th level power.

Also, thanks for clearing that, actually gonna buy that thing for my rimeblooded sorcerer now.

Sorcs almost never get at-level spell effects (unlike Arcane or Draconic Bloodrager), so four levels earlier is less of an issue. Sorcs at 3, 4, 9, 10, and 15 don't get an extra power, while Bloodragers always do, and Sorcs have one fewer power to get a level boost to. And finally, Bloodrager abilities are almost always ones that don't require an action to use.

The trade off is supposed to be that bloodragers only have their bloodline abilities while blood raging.

Shameless bumping for attention aside.

Most Bloodrager Bloodline abilities are also personal, while the spells and other abilities that sorcerors get can also be applied to other party members, be it a free widen spell or increased caster level on important buffs.

As such the value that bloodragers get is lower, their buffs only apply to themselves, not a party of 4 to 6 people.
