point-based

Advice

Shadow Lodge

Hello.

I have been reading: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules
with great ebullience and gusto.
There might be, however, something I have missed.
Is there an alternative system where things are bought in a semi-quasi-mini-point-based, purchases-type alternative?

Thanks,
Morlaf

Could you be more specific?

what are the "things" you're trying to buy?

what makes the point based system you want semi or quasi or mini?

Is it an alternative for gold that you're looking for to buy magic items?

Shadow Lodge

no i mean a point-based system.
I.e. Instead of experience to gain level i gain points. with them i can buy a stat, a feat, rage, the ability to cast magic, sneak attack, etc, etc.......

No, that does not exist.

Most class features have magic item equivalents. It'll take a lot of reading to figure out the cost of things but the gold costs as far as I've seen are pretty balanced.

maybe just go with the wealth by level table. Call gold points and call magic items abilities that go into "ability slots", slotless items become slotless abilities. there are items for feats. magic weapon price can simulate BAB.

It sounds what you're looking for is a different game all together though. The bestiary and chalenge rating of monsters in it was designed with player character levels at it's base. It's almost as important a mechanic as the "roll a 20 sided die + static modifier and compare it to a set number" mechanic

There are plenty of point based systems, but Pathfinder is not one of them and trying to make it one would require a complete rewrite of the game. The Hero system may be what you are looking for. It is a point based system with no classes or levels.

I think you want this: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/unchained-classes#TOC-Staggered-Advancement

That's not pointbuy, that's just leveling up in stages.
