Wizard Necromancer Help.

Advice

So I'm building a Lich Necromancer for an upcoming game, and I'm wondering what to use for feats. There are so many now. What are the 'Core' feats that I should have?

Level? PC or BBEG? Necromancer as in undead army doing his bidding, or a guy who uses necromancy spells to blast his foes?

BBEG. If encountered he would have his warband of undead, but Im curious what feats to take.

17th level Human Lich Necromancer

Spell Focus (and greater) is good, Combat Casting, Quicken Spell is a must, Heighten Spell, Toughness, Dodge, Persistent Spell (needs to save twice), weapon focus (ray), Iron Will, Lightning Reflexes, Maximize Spell, Empower Spell.

Undead Master is the followup feat to Command Undead, and improved initiative is good for many types. Beyond that it depends what his tactics are: if he's a control wizard then (greater) spell focus, persistent spell, quicken spell, then maybe reach spell or lingering spell to meet the prerequisite for spell perfection. If he's a blaster then empower/maximise/quicken spell for the same prereq. Arcane discoveries like resilient illusions and/or infectious charms suit the former, creative destruction the latter.

There are a bunch of other ways to go - summoner, gish, buffer etc. - so if you have anything more specific to add we can suggest more. Wizards are quite versatile so there's no one-size-fits-all answer.
