I'm gearing up to try and build a character for the excellent Iron Gods adventure path, and what I really wanna do is capture the idea of faith and science intermingling to create something even greater than the sum of its parts, which is a major theme of the AP according to James Jacobs.
To that end, I began scrounging for ideas in Zenith's Guide to the Guides, as I'm wont to do, and stumbled across a guide to psychics that suggested a paladin/psychic multiclass with the Faith discipline would be quite solid, with Divine Grace and Resilience of the Faithful pushing the character's saves through the roof along with nice armor and weapon proficiencies from the paladin levels.
To give it an Iron Gods flavor, I thought I could be an android (because, really, Iron Gods was MADE for android PCs!). I know that starting out I'd need the Empathy feat to make my psychic spells work and stuff, but after that, I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to proceed.
So, I'm curious as to what the Advice forums might advise for this endeavor. I know it's not the best class/race combo, but I feel like the class combo might render that little more than a stumbling block, and I don't really care as much about being POWERFUL as I do being FUNCTIONAL, able to fill a party niche well enough that they'll keep me around.

Resilience of the Faithful gives you a resistance bonus to saves, so it doesn't stack with a Cloak of Resistance. You should definitely look at shoulder slot items for items to get instead of that item that nearly everyone else will be going for.
Maybe you should consider the Iroran/Enlightened Paladin archetype for your two level Paladin dip? Its combination of light armor and Cha to AC mixes perfectly with your character wanting Cha as high as possible and having a racial bonus to Dex. This option would make Irori your patron deity.
On the Psychic side, the Amnesiac archetype would be an interesting option to simulate a past memory wipe.
You could also look at options to boost Knowledge and other Int based skills such as VMC Bard or the Amateur Investigator feat.

These are all solid ideas, though I'm a bit hesitant on the Iroran Paladin. Don't get me wrong, I can see the mechanical appeal, but Irori doesn't have much, if any, of a following in Numeria. Iomedae, on the other hand, has enough followers in Numeria to get included in the nation's statblock. And I'm interested in the character potentially converting to other religions over the course of his career...

If you are dipping into Paladin just for the save bonus, a single level of Monk (Sohei archetype) might actually be worthwhile. That single level dip gives you +2 to all saves and proficiency with light armor without binding you to any single deity or requiring you to boost Cha. A 2nd level in that class gives you an additional +1 to all saves plus Evasion.

Actually, the Faith discipline is a bad choice if you are going to be changing religions frequently, as you lose all of your discipline related abilities each time you do that. Since the saving throw bonus that that discipline grants you can be gained via a Cloak of Resistance anyway, the Enlightenment or Self Perfaction discipline might work a lot better.
