Channel Energy w / out Deity? [PFS]

Rules Questions

So I have a small question regarding Channel Energy. Are there any classes other than Divine classes that can use BOTH positive and negative energy? I really want to make an energy channeler character, but I really dont want to worship for the character. Is that possible without sucking?

You will either need to multiclass two different channel classes (one positive, one negative) or use this feat.

Using THIS search feature for "Channel Energy", and checking the "Classes/Pets" box, I can find nothing that fits your criteria.

You don't have to actively proselytize your deity in PFS, though. It could be a very minor detail of your character, for any number of RP reasons (fearing anti-divine reprisal being a strong one).

And that's where the OP is having trouble, because in PFS there isn't the option for "neutral clerics who do not worship a deity".

This sounds like one of those character concepts that would just be better played in a homegame.

Define your minimum qualifications for "not sucking", and we might be able to help.

@ Nefreet - Darn that sucks....

@ Drahliana Moonrunner - I don't want to be completely useless. I want to be able to support the team without being seen as "Gimmick getting carried". I really like the idea of Channeling Energy both positive and negative, both sides of the same coin really.

Out of curiosity, what Deity would be best for a Ying/Yang combo? Which Domain combination would work best together?

-Edit-
Looking at it, I might be able to see how the Hex Channeler works. But their the only non-divine energy channeler I can find... please tell me I'm missing something?

Easily Nethys. He's the God of Yin and Yang.

Not the best combo of domains, but Destruction and Protection fit the bill of your idea quite nicely.

...Nethys, maybe? Or Gozreh.

That's very descriptive but not concrete.

Let's pick three levels, 5, 10, and 15. What amount of channeling at each level will meet your criteria?

Well.... PFS doesn't go past level 12 as far as I've been told... I guess I would be okay with one less than the Cleric Channel Energy. Level 5 would be 2d6, Level 10 would be 4d6 and level 12 would be 5d6. A lot of this would require numbers of times it can be used, as this would be the main and center focus for the character.

The main thing is, I just don't want a Diety breathing down my neck lol.

Bad news and good news for you then.

Bad news is that you need to pledge yourself to a diety.

Good news is that PFS isn't one of those silly campaigns where Gods make a habit of personally manifesting on the Prime Material Plane.

@Drahliana - So as long as I worship a Neutral deity, I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, however I want, without losing Clerichood?

No. every diety has tenets to uphold. True Neutral ones can be fairly flexible about conduct though.

If you just want to throw energy around, than maybe Kineticsit is a better road to travel?

Sometims it's best to settle for half of your cake.

Essentially yes.

Liberty's Edge

Wizard necromancer can take versatile channeler too. He can only use the energy to turn and command undead though

I built a versatile channeler with Cleric of Pharasma channeling negative, a dip in black-blooded Oracle of Bones and a dip in Wizard necromancer with Turn Undead. That was some time ago though. Pretty sure that new possibilities have risen in the meantime :-)

Then you've been told wrong! =D

You may take a character all the way to 20. You can actually take five characters to 20, but only a small handful of people have even gotten there once. It's an incredibly difficult slog, but it's possible!

In fact, a new "retirement arc" is in the middle of being released, for characters level 12-15.

So, plan away!!

No. Every deity has tenets a cleric must uphold. Also, remember that you're playing PFS. Even if you're a Neutral cleric of a Neutral deity, continuously commit evil acts and your character will get s@!#-canned.

Okay, new question. What are Obedience and how do you use/earn them in PFS? Do all Deity have them, and if so, where can I find them outside Nethys? I found a few interesting N Deity, but none of them have a large description. Judging by the sounds of it, Nethys is the only one I can really related to.

Knowledge for Knowledge's sake. I don't plan to use the Knowledge but I do plan to learn it. After all, parchments are no less dangerous to wield then it is to wield a sword. There is danger, but that is like saying a Musket will kill someone when no one wields it.

Maybe if I to get his Obedience, I'll make it a Profane bonus, as it stacks (ironically) with Sacred bonus, and Sacred will be much more common than Profane. I'd argue that evil is not evil itself, but the actions taken with it are considered evil. :P lol

@Ashram - I may be Chaotic at worst, but I won't go running around laughing manically going "BWAHAHA, EVIL EVIL EVIL!" But I won't go running around preaching the good teachings of gooddy good god! either.

It has been a while but I believe that in PFS you not only must worship a deity that deity and the character as well have to be good aligned?

It's been some time since I read the handbook so I may be wrong.

Your character is not allowed to be evil aligned. Evil deities (but the list is restricted), [Evil] spells, evil acts that don't constitute an alignment change, it's all fine.
