Recruitment

Hello, everyone!

I'm interested in GMing a homebrew campaign... made by you. Let me explain myself more properly: You probably have a certain campaign idea you would love to be involved with as a player, and, depending on what it is, I might enjoy running it. So, for example, you want to play in a campaign set in the Mana Wastes where the PCs hunt for an ancient artifact or whatever, and, if you're okay with it, please ask me to run it.

I have to admit, though, my reasons to do this are not truly very altruistic, because, well, I also want to play in a campaign without the (low) discomfort of having to go through various recruitment threads.

So, here's the deal, if you're still interested:

You post here saying a bit about the campaign you would like me to run for us (with the houserules and creation rules you want), and what would you run. If you want to play with specific friends, I can give them a sorted spot.

If I like your idea, we set recruitment threads to find players for both campaigns.

I guess that's it.

I am looking to play an AP, pretty much any, except for Council of Thieves, with 15, 20 or even 25 point buy, depending of the Adventure, all Paizo classes allowed, and most Races too.

I hope you're interested in this!

This is more for other people, but are you willing to consider systems besides Pathfinder?

With it being the case that you're open to running something homebrew, are you specifically looking for an AP, or is there something you'd like / be interested in for a homebrew game as well?

I've been interested in Dungeon World and Mutants & Masterminds, but I've never played them. If you are still fine with me GMing one of those, I could learn the rules.

If there's a homebrew you'd like to run, I'm also open, depending of what it is about.

I've been dying to play Hell's Rebels or Wrath of the Righteous. Or something in those styles.

I cannot say enough good things about Dungeon World. I run two games on here now and have been wondering if I have enough time for a third. It's easily my favourite system.

I've been wanting to play in the firefly universe. There is a serenity RPG that I've read, but never played

I'm already reading an AP, getting ready to run it, so I'm more interested in a homebrew campaing.

Sorry, I've never seen Firefly, so I don't think I would do very nicely.

Definitely going to be keeping my eye on this, though as I've 0 experience GMing, I'm not going to propose anything. Just watching for the recruitment threads once y'all figure out what you're running.

I highly recommend binge watching the one and only season, then follow up with the movie. It won't disappoint.

Also keeping an eye on this. I'll see what you guys decide.

As with others, I'm not quite ready to deal with running, but if I may present my idea for other potential GM's to take?

Idea: a campaign in Galt, that deals with the revolution. Preferably of high enough level to make use of the Grey Gardener prestige class (so around 10-12th). Obviously, would want to be on the Revolutionary Council side, or a Gardener that decides to use his powers for the Revolution. Also, if acceptable, gestalt would be appreciated.

Are there any 3PP settings that interest you? I can think of a few that I have been wanting to try, but I would hate to make you buy new books.

How about player vs player teams set to combat in an arena. No holds barred. We can RP the build up to the main event. Chose sides and such

You as GM could surprise us with the environment (Fighting Pit, Sea Battle, Urban combat, etc) all with or without traps. sky's the limit

Hmm. Which adventure paths would you most like to play?

I'm fascinated to see how this plays out... would love to get in on it if it's pathfinder.

Seems truly interesting, you can become a Gray Gardener at sixth level, I think.

Obsidian Apocalypse, and I have it, though I haven't read a lot. Are you interested in playing in that setting?

I've always wanted to do such a thing. I'd love it.

Hmmm... Rise of the Runelords, Legacy of Fire, Carrion Crown, Reign of Winter, Iron Gods, Giantslayer and Way of the Wicked.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Also, I really don't like alignment restrictions, and I prefer asking potential players to do anything that they think they can make work in the party and adventure.

That would be nice.

Cool! Would you like to GM something else then?

Let me get back to you on that.

If I were to run an AP, I have a personal fondness for Rise of the Runelords.

How about you? How experienced a GM are you? What are some of the game systems you enjoy most? Are you more hack and slash, roleplay, or puzzle GM? maybe a mixture of all three? Do you prefer gritty realism or idealistic fantasy?

all this might help narrowing down concepts

I've been playing RPGs for a while now and I am getting into GMing. I feel like I'm doing pretty well.

I like writing and I think of Pathfinder as collaborative storytelling, but I'm still somewhat heavy on rules, as I think they help to achieve that objective.

I enjoy running through combat, but letting the story branch through roleplaying. I'm also a puzzle fan, and investigations can make a significant part of some campaigns. So I'd say a mixture of all three.

Even when I'm running through a plot, I like the players' decisions to be very significant to the story, and even take it in completely different directions.

I think I prefer gritty realism and I'm happy to get dark when the story requires it, but I don't actively try to get into it.

All good to know, I had since decided on Rise of the Runelords. which, I feel, a pretty good mix of combat, puzzles, and RP.

I have not GM'd in many years, and I am not up to date on all the new material. But as long as the power level of the PCs are on par with the core races and classes, The AP should be sufficiently challenging from beginning to end.

And I would GM the PvP with the arenas and such?

Cool, I'll consider you, let's see what everyone else suggests.

EDIT: 300th post, yay!

Depending on what gets more interest. I would also like to see an orc centered adventure, where the tribes are united and push back the 'civilized races from taking their untamed home.

I'd be interested in playing a RotRL game if it's not TOO strongly restricted to core races and classes...

Sorry, no interest in the pvp game though...

Yeah, the earliest entry is at 5th, most likely with an inquisitor.

But I wanted to really use the prestige classes' abilities, not just have one level in it.

Regardless, I'd be eager to be a player in such a campaign, regardless of the level.
I am glad you think it's interesting!

Oh no! I'll make sure that doesn't happen.

Remember you can decide the house and character rules of the game I'll be running (the homebrew) and I can decide the ones of the one I'm playing (the AP).
