If you have posted a submission please let me know if you have played in any of the following previously:

1. Shadows of the Last War,
2. Whisper's of the Vampires Blade,
3. Grasp of the Emerald Claw.

If you have, do not worry it will not effect the final decision as to who makes it in I just want to know.

Thanks!

Worry not, this one will get off the ground and run for a long time.

StS, I am submitting Dharakk, an unmarked half orc with House Tharashk. I have not decided on a class yet but am leaning toward Investigator, Unchained Rogue, or Slayer but any suggestions would be welcomed. I will have the crunch up Wednesday at the latest.

I have not played any thing in Eberron before but I like the Noir and steam punk vibe. I am new at play by post (lurked for a while but this is my first submission so be gentle). I have be playing pathfinder for over 5 years and rpging over 10.

Background:

Dharakk squirms trying to get comfortable as he sits in the unforgiving seat aboard the lighting rail to Sharn. He strokes his thick beard while his grey-green eyes gaze out the window. As the countryside flashes by he thinks, no matter how much time I spend away from the marshes I’ll never get used to this. Dharakk adjusts his position in the seat again and glances around the cabin while he checks his vest pocket making sure the letter is still there, at least there is a job waiting for me at the end of the line. The letter was pretty vague but sensitive matters are best discussed face to face, he assures himself. Dharakk takes one last look around the cabin before he shuts his eyes and tries to relax, his thoughts turn to his past.

As Dharakk begins to doze off his life flashes before his mind’s eye like the countryside disappears before the lighting rail. His earliest memories are of the searing pain when his father inscribed Dharakk’s forearms with the dragon head tattoos. It was also the only memories he had of his father. Dharakk’s mother handled the rest of his upbringing in the city of Zarash’ak. He and his mother left Zarash’ak over a decade ago because of his mother’s promotion within House Tharashk. His mother was tasked with handling house business in Breland’s capital city of Wroat. They managed not to get caught up in the war and today Dharakk follows in his mother’s footsteps as a finder of lost things and some time bounty hunter.
Dharakk is startled awake by the jostling of the railcar and mutters, “At least business is booming,” and looks around the rail car one more before he gazes out the window watching the country side roll by.

Appearance:

Dharakk's eyes pop open, he shakes his head trying to get his bearings as he slowly awakens. He sighs with relief as he remembers he is safe aboard a lighting railcar heading to Sharn. He runs his fingers through his thick dark hair as he reaches with his other hand for the mostly empty bottle next to his chair. Greedily he brings the bottle to his lips and finishes off the contents. He tosses the bottle aside and carefully stretches his long muscular arms over his head.

He glances out the window and catches his reflection in it scowling at his likeness. It was a look that would make a mother hide her children, a banker clutch his coin purse a little tighter, or make a weak man tremble.

He mused that while he was not yet 20 years old the reflection looking back at him seemed older and competent. As Dharakk continues looking at his reflection he notices his eyes, they are a greyish-green color. “When they’re not blood shot,” he adds with a low laugh. But it is more than their color that draws Dharakk’s attention, his gaze appears knowing and penetrating. His eyes are deeply set, sitting below thick bushy eyebrows, in a large head with a green colored face. His face is framed by thick dark brown hair with an equally thick beard and like most half orcs his mouth has two protruding canines which sits below a clean shaven upper lip, and a prominent nose with a circular nose ring through it.

Dharakk is startled from his reverie by the jarring of the railcar. He admonishes himself, stop admiring yourself, there is business to attend to. He shakes his head while he checks his vest pocket for the letter he is carrying thinking that the letter is probably trouble.

** spoiler omitted **...

No suggestions any of those submissions sound fine as no one else has submitted any of those classes.

I'd like to apply (for the Eberron game) as a heavy hitter and party 'face'.

Taryn is a dragonmarked member of House Lyrandar who has learned to tap into the power of his dragonmark for more than just spell-like abilities... he draws power from it to augment his strength and toughness during combat and can charge his weapons with electrical energy. He is disciplined and loyal to his house, and worked upon one of their airships to earn passage from Stormhome to Sharn.

As we level he'll continue to develop his dragonmark (up to lesser and greater, possibly taking some of the other feats for extra SLAs too), and learning to draw other power from it (like the dragonmark rage feat which I'll probably take at 3rd). He's also decent at UMD so he can help out with scrolls/wands in a pinch.

edit: I just realized I didn't include any background in the profile... I'll rectify that as soon as I have time. And, I haven't played any of those adventures.

Updated submissions thus far for Eberron:

1. Mellowgoth - Viorr - Elf (Two Weapon) Fighter,
2. Gerald - Artival Brisboir - Human Monk,
3. Jesse Heinig - Caelan d'Orien - Human Fighter (Tactician),
4. Oceanshieldwolf - Haqueton - Warforged Vigilante (Stalker),
5. Me'mori - Ama Freewater - Khoravar Wizard (Water),
6. haruhiko88 - Rission d'Lyrandar - Half-Elf Gunslinger,
7. Edelsmirge - Pink-Eye - Minotaur - Cleric,
8. WreckTall - Liberte' - Human (Empty Vessel) - Psychic Warrior,
9. goodwicki - Carduus "the Bemourned - Human - Oracle of Life.
10. G-unit - Dharakk - Half-Orc - Class TBD.
11. nate lange - Taryn d'Lyrandar - Half-Elf - Bloodrager
12. Algar Lysandris - Name TBD - Human - Wizard

Based on interest there may be one or two other submissions before the deadline on May 26th. The cut off time (there always needs to be a specific time I think) is 8:30 PM. This means that there needs to be a definitive build that is nearly complete unless I have granted an extension (i.e. that player is on vacation or ill and has requested more time).

That is when my daughter will be in bed and I will begin to review submissions.

FYI, I'm hoping to get a submission as well! Just started looking for a game this weekend since in my home game I'm always the DM and I miss being a player. I am new to PbP but hope you will consider me. (Been reading up on it - and I should say I am familiar with PBeM from more years ago than I care to admit, but have only played home games since then.)

My current concept is a struggling actor/gentleman burglar who is a changeling warlock vigilante. I will try to have full stats and background tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

I like the concept.

New PbP players are always welcome in my game. I like a nice mix of experienced and inexperienced. Of course, no home DM could be considered an inexperienced player.

In fact, your story is my story. Always Table Top DM so I started doing PbP to actuallyplay in games for once. DMing it seems is in my blood and eventually I started DMing games here that I know I will never get to in run in Table Top.

Go ahead and link to my Vampire game (or any other game linked in my Profile for that matter) to get a feel for how I run a PbP if you so desire.

I was really hoping to submit an Elven secret seeker inquisitor with the secrets inquisition, but I couldn't find any inspiration for him, especially since I had to pack up all my Eberron books for the move.

*However* I also really love Erix, a dragonmarked member of House Orien. He's a swashbuckler mysterious avenger who will eventually take levels in the Blade of Orien PrC.

No alias at the moment, as I already have 42, so I try not to make any new ones unless I'm chosen.

TMB:
Overview-

1) Dragonmarked member of House Orien, his Mark appears on the center of his chest, around his neckline.
2) Charsimatic and outgoing, he is quite knowledgeable about both Sharn and his House.
3) Fought in the Last War as caravan guard, protecting both officers and important shipments of supplies.
4) After the war, took to proctecting the streets of Sharn as a sort of masked vigilante, using his skill with the whip and his Mark's minor teleporation powers to keep the innocent safe.
5) Is a bit of an atypical member of Orien, in that while he loves to travel an wander, he is also content keeping the city he was born and raised in(Sharn) safe.

Goals:

1) In game- I would like to better relations with Orien and Lyrandar, hoping to one day forge an alliance between the two House.
2) OOG- It would be awesome if he could help find ways to reconnect the lightning rails in the Mournlands, or at least work to make them safer.

Secrets:

1) He and his sister have developed their own private secret language that involves complex hand gestures. Whie not impossible to crack, the two have gotten very adept at using it during mundane tasks.
2) The true idenity of his sister's mother, who left her with their father shortly after giving birth.

Relations:

1) Sister(Riki), a half-elf Dragonmarked member of House Lyrandar. Technically half sister, as they share different mothers. The two are very close. (friendly relationship)
2) Mentor within House Orien. Middle-aged warrior, Blade of Orien. (friendly relationship)
3) Sister's ex-boyfriend, half-orc(Thog), total bully. Leader of a small gang. (hostile relationship)
4) Nemesis- unsure atm.

Memories/mannersism:
1) Day of Mourning. He was traveling from Passage to Flamekeep, and was suppose to go on from there to Metrol.
2) When he is in a heated argument, he will sometimes crack his whip to make a point.
3) He first manifested his mark defending his sister from her bully of a boyfriend, teleporting in front of her as he tried to cut her with his long knife. He has a scar on his arm from wear he took the blow.

Jesse Heinig & MonkeyGod you both have submitted for House Orien, any interest in tying Background together albeit not in novel format? :-)

Sure, I have no problem with that :)

Sovereign Court

Not opposed, though having two Orien melee characters might wind up causing a significant amount of toe-stepping just because their abilities and functions overlap so much!

Not too sure about that. I'm going to be more battlefield control, as my primary weapon is a whip. So I'll be 'porting around fights, tripping and disarming when possible.

Going Blade of Orien makes me even more mobile plus adds some abilities to further augment my style.

Taryn has been updated with fluff, and I believe is totally finished except having to figure out an appropriate terrain for one ability.

Also, it looks like there are 2 members of house Lyrandar too (me and Rission the gunslinger). If we are selected together I'm not at all opposed to working on some shared background. Its kind of funny that Orien and Lyrandar are the two most represented when they also happen to be rivals...

I own Grasp of the Emerald Claw, and read it some years ago. Having said that I have no trouble keeping player knowledge separate from character knowledge, and can't remember much of it anyways...

Sorry for the delay - will get to gear and feats etc tonight Oz-time.

Did not catch that, sure a shared Background here makes sense as well, much more sense than not knowing each othrr at all.

Liberte' could know any of the other characters through Gambling or Animal training

WreckTall wrote:

Once I make line up selections, I will expand on the who knows who and why. For now the Houses are the most obvious links. :-)

Also, it may well be that you may have traveled with someone to get to Sharn so that too could be a link with other players.

Erix's half sister is of Lyrander. She's Marked in his background, but that can change.

He also seeks to repair relations with the two houses, as one of his goals.

Strongly considering throwing my hat into the ring for the Eberron game. Have a few characters I'm brainstorming at the moment, most notably:

1) A changeling Psychic (Occult, not Psionic) with a split personality that terrifies him (Abomination Discipline).

And 2) A warforged Investigator that I am referring to, until I've got a proper name, as Mecha-Poirot (complete with "moustache" - originally painted on by mischievous kids, but he's grown attached to it).

I am notoriously slow at pulling these things together, so I may not make the deadline, but I'd love to delve into an Eberron game if everything works out. It's one of my favorite settings.

Ama's also the daughter of a person in the employ of Lyrandar.

What's a House?

Corruption, little cousin. The canker of Khorvaire, the festering remnants of the Dragonspawn'd power. Corruption...

It's short for "Dragonmarked House". From the Eberron Wiki

"Dragonmarked Houses are extended families of a single race whose members sometimes manifest dragonmarks. They often have a near-monopoly on certain kinds of businesses and are considered neutral in any affairs between the nations of Khorvaire."

Submission complete!
Name: Dharrak
Religion: Dragon Below
House: Tharashk
Role: Skill Monkey (Traps, Knowledge, Intimidate), Switch hitter (at 2nd level primarily a front liner until then), Buffer (at third level when I can give out extracts).

The Build going Forward:

1. Intimidate build: [feats]power attack, cornugon smash, hurtful
2. Gaining a firearm at 2nd level allows for a switch hitter build without the need to invest in ranged feats as the firearm targets touch AC and grit/deed will help.
3. Skill points in all knowledge skills by 3rd level.
4. FCB to hit points
5. Gain an inspired weapon [good bye great axe]
6. Ability to hand out out extracts to my companions by 3rd level
7. Mutagen at 7th [depending on party make up may do this at third level)

That'll teach me to not look closer. *facepalm*

Less than one day to go!

My warforged submission is almost complete, but I gotta ask on a ruling here...

Someone said wrote:

Alternate Racial Traits:

The following alternate racial traits may be selected in place of one or more of the standard racial traits above.
Adamantine Plating: The composite plating of the warforged was made with adamantine, ... Warforged with this alternate racial ability weigh eight times as much as a normal warforged for their size

Do you agree with eight times normal weight for a simple DR 1/-?

Warforged
Base Height & Weight:

Height: 5' 10" (Medium) or 2' 10" (Small)
Weight: 270 lbs (Medium) or 50 lbs (Small)
Modifier: 2d4 / Weight Modifier: x4

That's 2160 lbs at minimum. Forget horses, the only transport one of these guys could ride in is the Lighting Rail or a big cargo ship. Anything else would just break as soon as he stepped foot into it.

I just don't get it? Where does it say anywhere that Adamantine weights 8 times as much as normal steel?

This restriction makes the trait all but useless.

What do you think?

I will have to get back to you on that one Gauntlet, I made a ruling on it a while ago for a table top game I ran, I think I made it 2 to 3x weight as 8x seemed excessive to me as well.

Fair enough.

I found the original 3.5 Feat description, and it does not mention weight other than it's equivalent to heavy armor.

Also...

I have never played in any of the Eberron titles you mentiond, but I do remember the names quite clearly.

Oh, oops.

I haven't played in any of those Eberron adventures either.

OK...I'm sorry to post this at the last minute, but I've been working 12 hour shifts and have had little time to get back to this until today.

Background:
Gauntlet is a very strange Warforged. Built to be a front line defender, he came out of the Lifeforge unable to know his full abilities or what his true purpose was. Needing fighting bodies as fast as they could build them, and to help meet their quotas during the Last War, the Forge Master of House Cannith at the time ordered him trained in the use of his strange abilities and sent to the front lines ASAP to be used in a commando or even a suicide unit. However, a particular d'Cannith named Savilar disagreed and argued vehemently to dissect the Warforged and study this anomaly to see if it could be replicated. Obviously he lost the argument becasue Gauntlet was shipped out shortly after. He arrived on the battlefield, ready to do his part to win the war...Then peace descended like a hammer on Khorvaire, and he was free to suddenly find his own way in life. But what was life if not killing the enemy? He was lost. Following a lot of the disenfranchised soldiers from the war he ended up in Sharn: From fighting monsters and mock battles to body guarding soft-skins to make ends meet, and in the end desperately trying to find a purpose in his life.

Unlike others who fought in the war, Gauntlet has no war horror stories, but he often dreams of the Cannith that wanted to dissect him may still want to do so. In that regard Gauntlet has gone out of his way to remain out of touch of anybody he knew prior and during the war and fearful of making new friends. The one exception is an old one-legged former Brelish army mule-skinner named Farley McPheer, or Micky "P" as everyone calls him. Mickey acts as Gauntlet's part-time manager and occasional job broker. Gauntlet trusts him becasue Mickey vehemently hates all Dragon-marked houses for his own reasons, claiming they are all in "cahoots" with each other to overthrow Breland's rightful government.

I'd say dot but not sure I can get a character out so late in the game.
