Never really played Werewolf. I was always more of a Vampire/Mage/Changeling type of guy, but would be willing to give it a shot.

Wow two votes for Werewolf!

I'll give it a few days to see who else chimes in. Then I'll tally votes and whatever campaign seems to be the most popular I'll recruit for :-)

Ooooh, this too could be really awesome and interesting, especially if you allowed us to be various different types.

Make it even more unique, and only allow 'animorphic' races, like Skinwalker, Catfolk, Kitsune, etc.

Actually, the more I think about, the more awesome this becomes.

Though, I would still be super interested in a WtA game.

I would allow full Lycanthropes, not just animorphic. Though it might be interesting to have animorphics inflicted WITH full Lycanthropy but of a different type :-) getting crazy I know!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Blood of the Beasts is about to hit, and it's apparently a really solid book. Plus there's also all the awesome Kitsune stuff from Everyman Games(were you to allow 3pp stuff).

Blood of the Moon(Lycantrhopes and Skinwalkers) is also a very good book too, imo.

Too bad you might be the ONLY person interested! :-)

I've always wanted to play a lycanthrope of some kind... though I'll admit the World of Darkness take never really interested me.

I really really shouldn't, but I'd be totally down for a lycanthrope game of some kind in PF. Chalk me down for the Werewolf game too, I guess, although I'm not as knowledgeable on the WoD take on that. Played in a couple games that mixed the various books and there was a werewolf in each of those, but I didn't learn it myself. (Played a TFV Hunter in the first one and a Sin-Eater in the second.)

I'd be interested in a WtA game (only played VtM, don't have any books).

Also, a Lycanthrope-based PF game would be amazing, especially if 3PP were allowed. I've been dying to try out Shifter from Spheres of Power.

I would certainly be interested in a lycanthrope PF game or something similar. I don't really know anything about classic World of Darkness, since I'm almost exclusively a NWoD player. Not that I don't like World of Darkness, I just didn't really have the time to learn all of the crazy plot stuff happening in OWoD. I might be willing to give it a try, but it would kind of be a shot in the dark for me.

Hey Storyteller Shadow, I'd be down for a Werewolf the apocalypse game :) I've only every played a mortal in WoD (and I believe that was in NWoD). I don't have the WtA book though.

I'd also be interested in any of the other games as well!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I once started to run a WtA 'end times' game.

I managed to get five characters to map to every single Garou Breed, Auspice, Rank, and Tribe, and then created them as a pack - a double-choosing, a pack that was both Jade Sentai (but which included non-Stargazers) and Silver Pack (but which was not chosen by the Garou Nations). A pack that was bonded with two totems, Phoenix and Feng Huang.

I then mirrored them into the Thirteen Realms, created lessons that they (tribal, auspice, and breed) had to learn in each, and started to send them through the Realm quests. Once those would be completed, they would then build a coalition and basically go through the Apocalypse which, though based primarily on the 'Weaver Ascendant' storyline, used elements of the other main ones in that book, as during the Last Battle the PCs would essentially have been a strike force going into what was intended to be a one-way trip into the depths of the Black Spiral in order to free the Wyrm from the bindings of the Weaver, redeeming it so that it might shock the Weaver back into sanity, and rebalancing the Triat.

Never got to finish it, alas.

Be fun to play in a game, though.

The Exchange

I'd be pretty hype for a PF werewolf game, especially if Dreamscarred Press' Lords of the Wild playtest were to be allowed.

It seems like Werewolves are all the Rage eh?

:-)

That is a LOT of interest but I'll give it another day or two to see if one or the other PF or oWoD pulls ahead as DL and HP seem to be in the dust. ..

FYI.

1) I allow all 3PP material in my games

2) I would not we'd myself to WtA canon (though I do love that plot idea Wyrm!)

Well, it blended a lot of 'potential' things together, though technically everything had come from canon sources. The only completely uncanonical thing was that Phoenix and Feng Huang were essentially the same totem - the only truly uncorruptable totem whose 'flip side' was simply a different view of itself.

Granted, it required quite a bit of flexibility on the part of the GM and players, and though everyone got to pull in old favorites, there was a fair spread of skill levels and abilities among them. Nobody was technically above Adren, but the Adren Philodox Stargazer (a Metis) had once been an Adren Ahroun Wendigo who'd Renunciated auspice and tribe (and thus was mapped to the Elder), while the Ragabash had earned enough Renown to make it to Adren, but had pretty much repeatedly gotten it stripped from him for stupid stunts.

It started out pretty fun, anyhow. :P

Definitely voting for PF. I have two different 3PP ways to play lycanthropes I haven't tried. XD

My own personal Werewolf cosmology is similar, with the whole Wyrm trapped and driven mad by the Weaver.

I know it's technically canon but it's also one version of their myths.

A werewolf game sounds interesting, I'd vote for that. Alas I have no clue what WtA is. Maybe a little net swim will enlighten me. :)

Werewolf the Apocalypse. A white wolf Storyteller system game :-)

I'm in the same boat as others, in that I really SHOULDN'T pick up another game... but I'd be down for a PF Werewolf game. I'd potentially be interested in WoD, but much like some others I'm only really familiar with NWoD. I think I'd prefer Pathfinder, though... I have some interesting ideas for that.

Interest seems to be slowing down. By Saturday night I will tally votes and see where we stand, have my Table Top game tomorrow to run so no posting that night.

Just to refresh and bring the post from last page to this one:

INTEREST CHECK

I am considering running a new game but have not decided what yet. I am looking at:

1) A Dragonlance game set on the continent of Taladas (Pathfinder).

2) Classic Greyhawk Pre-Greyhawk Wars Lycanthrope Campaign (Pathfinder).

3) A Cthulhu super adventure (Chaosium rules set 5th/6th edition).

OR

4) Werewolf the Apocalypse - Modern (Storyteller System - 2nd Edition).

Looking for 5 players for whichever campaign seems to be the most popular. Based on posts thus far it seems Greyhawk or Werewolf the Apocalypse are the clearly preferred options.

My votes, in order of preference, are:
2
4
1
3

The Exchange

In order of preference? 2,1, and I'm not sure if I'd try for involvement in the other two, if I'm being honest. Never really enjoyed the WoD stuff, myself, but if I were able to actually sit down and learn the Chaosium ruleset, I might be down to try 3. I guess, 3 slightly edges out 4.

Option 4 would be the only one that I would have any strong interest in.

2 and 1 are the ones that interest me, in that order.

2 and 1 for myself

Wow, I just updated 13 (well 12 one of the Tables in is PvP mode right now) separate Gameplay Threads in 3 hours. I am getting good at this :-)

I also decided the first adventure I will run if Greyhawk (which seems to be the front runner) is the final winner.

Don't Look Here:
Why the f!@$ you lookin' here? I might also run the second choice which would appear to be WtA but with 3 players...

Look forward to the recruitment. Were creatures galore. :)

Werewolf is cool. I also have Book of the Wyrm anneversery edition form the Kickstarter, same with changing breeds :) if CB are allowed :)

Not super familiar with Greyhawk, since I mostly play Golarion, but I will most definitely be looking forward to it. Still willing to take a look at WtA too, but I'll have to poke around and find copies of the books.

Psst Storyteller I am interested in either game sinve I lost two other games recently ... I would apply for either!

I'm interested in Werewolf or Dragonlance. Mage and Vampire is fun too, but I'm not keen on nWod. I prefer 20th anniversary oWoD...

I already run a Vamp game. A Storyteller is recruiting here on the boards for a V20 Dark Ages Caitiff game, I can link it here if you like. We need two more players!

I would quite enjoy a Dragonlance setting for once, as I do love the series... but a Lycan game could also be fun to play.

Just as long as it's Pathfinder honestly, as I don't know the system.

I am looking for 5 players.

RECRUITMENT OPEN FOR WEREWOLF THE APOCALYPSE

Second Edition rules.
Basic Build 7/5/3 - 13/9/5 - 4 Gifts (all Rank 1 - 1 may be outside of Tribe as long as it makes sense) 15 Freebies.

All Tribes except Black Spiral Dancers will be allowed.

Setting will be upstate New York circa 1993.

A friend of mine has expressed interest on this so I am looking for 4 submissions.

Hmmm... I'm guessing if we're trying to be balanced against one another, we probably don't want some people to be were-tigers and some were-rats? :D

For third party material, do you have the Bite Me rules? I was hoping to get to try them out.

Full disclosure--I was a Kickstarter backer for them. My name may even be on one of the spells in there... I don't remember if it made it into the final rules or not.

It would have been interesting but the consensus was Pathfinder Greyhawk followed by WtA.

I would allow other Lycan types but if they are clearly more or less powerful than a standard werewolf I would seek to balance them a la Savage Species type rules.

Do not have that book, let's see what other players propose so we can ensure a unified system of some sort will be utilized for all applicants :-)

All right.

Let's see... for background, are we all from an unusual pack that's not evil?

I'm guessing were-eagle would be a no-go? :D

I will let the applicants decide alignment. You can decide to tie backgrounds together or not. I will adapt the start of the adventure to applicant choices. So if some of you are a pack that is fine, if all of you are disparate Lycans that is fine as well!

Alright, cool. I've got ideas rolling around. As far as party balance with lycanthropes, I imagine it'll mostly come down to the CR of the animal we pick (along with a little bit of forward thinking when the CR system doesn't really work). I think sticking primarily to medium-sized animals would help a lot too.

By the by, I figure the answer is probably yes, but are we natural lycanthropes?

Yes natural.

If I recall correctly, natural lycanthropes are not restricted in alignment so it's more nurture then nature for them. That should not be an issue, let me know if I'm mistaken. :)

Aiming for the greyhawk recruitment. If you could suggest anywhere to brush on it I'd appreciate it, been a few years to say the least. If you allow spheres of power, I think I'll choose a class from there depending on the lycan I go for. Which leads me to another question, are we restricted to the lycan on the list or any animal is fine?

I have the Changing Breeds book. Can i be one of the were-turtles?

Hmm...Silver Fang or Glass Walker...hmmm

Seth86 wrote:

I will allow 1 non werewolf changing breed in the WtA game.

I'm excited. Storyteller Shadow, is Shifter ok? The main focus would be Alteration Sphere.

The general idea would be a lycanthrope that can get the blood of other creatures and adopt some of their traits into his own shapechanging. As far as power balancing goes, he'd be along the lines of a wild-shape focused druid that doesnt get a lot of casting.

I assume we are natural lycanthropes, not afflicted?

Hey, I was thinking of a Shifter... XD
