I am running an all Kobold party in Skull & Shackles. We have lost a few hatch-lings as they jumped ship.
So I am looking for 2 shipwrecked rat. They get to be pirates or die trying; likely both.
Right now we have an aerokineticist, Hunter, Shaman, and a Unchained Rogue.
If you submitted a PC to my last recruitment topic, go ahead to resubmit here. The guidelines have not changed.
The party is closes to the end of book 1. They are on a nice little iland.
Character Creation Guidelines:
Starting level: 3rd
Alignment: While Good is possible, as a pirate it could be hard and would have to have a really good reason to why they would want to be a pirate.
Stats: 25 point buy Or Roll. See below.
Hit Points: Max at first level, half round up after. (d10=6,d8=5, d6=4)
Starting Gold: 3,000 gp
Classes: Core, Base, Hybrid, unchained.
Races: Kobolds, Kobolds, and because I am a nice Gm I will allow Kobolds too.
Traits: 3. One from player guide, one Kobold race Trait, and one other trait.
Feat: All Kobolds will gain a 2nd feat at odd levels (1,3,5,...) that can only be used on teamwork feats. Kobolds are good at working together. (So right now two Teamwork feats)
Skills: Using the background skills. So you have access to the two ranks of background skills per level. Bards, skulds, and the like have their perform skill cost 2 background ranks (or 1 normal rank).
The Stat: (PB and rolling, and kobolds)
The life of a pirate can be hard. Kobolds a -4 to Str and -2 to con. Keep in mind that may be tricky on some rolls.
You can do 25 point buy (min score of 8), or roll 4d5D1+3 (4d5, drop lowest, and add 3). Any score rolled as 6,7 is a 8.
Even if you roll you can still fall back on Point buy if you want.
If you take the stats in order (Str, Dex, Con, Int, Wis, Cha), you can also roll a 1d4, and a 1d2.
You can add the 1d4 to any score but can't push the score above 18. The same for the 1d2.
P.S: You are kobolds. Be the kobold. Have fun with it.
---------------------------------
Example:
Str: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 1) + 3 = 12 | 12-1(drop lowest)-4(kobold)=7
Dex: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 1) + 3 = 13 | 13-1(drop lowest)+2(kobold)=14
Con: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 4) + 3 = 21 | 21-4(drop lowest)-2(kobold)=15
Int: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 3) + 3 = 15 | 15-3(drop lowest)=12
Wis: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 5) + 3 = 14 | 14-1(drop lowest)=13
Cha: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 4) + 3 = 18 | 18-3(drop lowest)=15
1d4 ⇒ 3
1d2 ⇒ 2
If taking in that order:
As I rolled 1 on the d4, I could add it to any of the 6 stats.
As I rolled 1 on the d2, I could add it to any of the 6 stats.
Also I could add both to any of the stats that are 13 or less as they would not push the stat higher then 18.
You can lose the bonus dice and rearrange the stats, Or turn to 25 Point buy.

STR: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 4) + 3 = 21 (5,5,4+3-4 =13+1=14)
DEX: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 1) + 3 = 17 (5,4,4+3+2 =18)
CON: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 4) + 3 = 15 (2,5,4+3-2 =12)
INT: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 2) + 3 = 19 (5,5,4+3 =17)
WIS: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 5) + 3 = 16 (5,3,3+3 =14)
CHA: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 1) + 3 = 16 (5,4,3+3 =15+2=17)
1d4 ⇒ 2 Adding the 2 to my charisma
1d2 ⇒ 1 adding the 1 to my Strength
I think... I'll be a kobold bard! A Kobold Sea Singer+Dragon Yapper Bard!
(Sea Singer and Dragon Yapper are compatible. Sea Singer is from the Advanced Player's Guide and Dragon Yapper is from the Monster Codex. Both Paizo materials.)

@TwelvePointFivePercent, the current lineup is: Shaman, Unchained Rogue, Hunter, Aerokineticist. No huge gaps IMO so anything goes as long as it's a fun character.
@The Archlich, the first Teamwork feat is Stealth Synergy. If you're accepted, I think you can vote on the second one. GM may overrule me as always, as I'm just assuming based on a quick recruitment period.

TwelvePointFivePercent |
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 2) + 3 = 14
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 1) + 3 = 12
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 4) + 3 = 20
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 1) + 3 = 15
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 4) + 3 = 18
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 2) + 3 = 17
Str 13, Dex 11, Con 16, Int 14, Wis 16, Cha 15
1d4 ⇒ 3
1d2 ⇒ 2
Hmm. That's pretty good, but not entirely sure what I'll do with it. Stats come to 9/13/14/14/16/15 after racials, with a +3 and a +2.
I could do something charisma focused, or something wisdom focused, I think. My melee stats aren't that great, except for that constitution. I suppose synthesist would be my best option for melee.
Maybe a stormflavored Druid? I'd probably stick my +2 in wisdom, and the +3... I want to say constitution? You can never have too much of that.

The Archlich |

Actually, I'm finishing up a white kobold / cold draconic sorcerer :)
Let me roll anyway.
4d5 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 5) = 19 14+3=17
4d5 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 5) = 17 15+3=18
4d5 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 3) = 14 13+3=16
4d5 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 2) = 7 6+3=9 + 4 = 13
4d5 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 5) = 14 12+3=15
4d5 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 3) = 15 12+3=15 + 2 = 17
1d4 ⇒ 4
1d2 ⇒ 2
I will use the rolls in order. I will give the 4 to INT and the 2 to CHA.
17, 18, 16, 13, 15, 17
With the racials:
13, 20, 14, 13, 15, 18

Dinglecanter Fizzlesnot |

I may want to submit one, but I feel like I should get approval first before I go through the whole conversion. I feel like approval would be necessary for both the concept and the fact that in order to make this character 3rd party content is required. Would you be open to me converting this guy to a Kobold and tweaking the backstory so he's not a Neutral Good, oblivious, klutzy, Shelyn following mess and is instead a Chaotic Neutral, oblivious, klutzy, Besmara following mess?
Despite the fact that it requires 3rd party material, I assure you, it's not min-maxy. It will become more clear when you read it over.

That's some decent stuff!
Excellent Dex and good Wisdom
I've been wanting to try a gunslinger for a long time, I might go that path.
It seems like kobold pirates would have access to early firearms...but maybe not advanced? Certainly not Modern obviously. GM ruling?
Crunch to come

How do you feel about a summoner kobald with a dragon themed eidolon?
It would have to be unchained summoner.
--------------------
@Dinglecanter Fizzlesnot:
I am a little put off by Pseudopod, the ooze shape spells, and the bloodline power Squishy Resistance (Ex).
Ooze shape gives a lot of immures. But takes a far number of penalties. So I will okay it.
Pseudopod is a really good 1st level spell. But it is not way over powered (Duration 1 minute), and I can see it could be used in funny ways. So I will okay it.
Squishy Resistance cuts all critical hit and sneak attack damage in half, and gives a nice boost to CMD. But you are not a fighter or something with lots of HP, and Kobolds (small and big penalties to Str) many times have low CMD's. So a boost will not make it crazy hard to be hit with CM's. So I will okay it.
--------------------
It seems like kobold pirates would have access to early firearms...but maybe not advanced? Certainly not Modern obviously. GM ruling?
Yea, not modern.
Advanced would be rarer to find; as it would be imported from Alkenstar.
I have to think about if I want Emerging or Commonplace guns. I am leaning more to Commonplace.
As a pirate you would run into water a lot. So don't forget a powder horn.
---------------------
@TheWaskally:
Don't forget that if you keep that the 7 turns into a 8.
Or you can still turn to 25 point buy.

Oh. Giving where the party is in the campaign the campaign traits flavor will be changed as you will be showing up in a water filled cave.
After you woke up you found your self on a slaver ship. They planed to sell you as slaves, but a few weeks on the ship a bad storm hit. The crew abandoned ship; leaving the slaves for dead.
You and the other kobold got free and took what you could before jumping over board.
You awakened days later to find your self tied up in a damp, dark cave.

** spoiler omitted **So feel free to submit as I won't turn you down just because of the ooze bloodline and spells.
Thanks for that Hokina! I assure you, this character is absolutely NOT about exploiting the game. I'm more than happy to modify how he casts those kinds of spells anyway. This guy is just more about the theme and funny (disgusting) use of mucus spells. I'll convert him over a little later today.

To go along with the character backstory (will modify to show up in the character profile if selected - basically switch Gnome for Kobold and change love of Shelyn to love of being a pirate), he would be the type that tries to be a pirate by encouragement, mostly with touchy-feely ways...that are covered in snot. I figure it's a gamble to be selected with this in mind, but I just can't break character concept! Thanks for considering this guy!
Oddly enough, there seems to be two sources for the Ooze Bloodline. I'm using the one from Deep Magic where Pseudopod doesn't exist. I'm using Hero Lab, so maybe they don't have that version of the Ooze Bloodline uploaded? Bonus Spells as follows:

It occured to me that I specified why I chose the neutral good alignment, but not why he wants to be a pirate. In his oblivious outlook on the world, pirates aren't criminals. They're a group of friends who sing show tunes while sailing around the world having adventures. I forsee many a mutany attempt against Dinglecanter, but he would perceive a mutany attempt as "wiley sailors needing motivation!" He "motivates" them by singing (extremely poorly), a sound so terrible it keeps them in line. Dinglecanter, of course, thinks they are getting inspired to keep working by his incredible singing. /sales pitch

BC4Realz |

Okay, a few fluffy bits for the background on PewPew.
****
An excerpt from "On Blackpowder: The history of the gun."
Chapter 4 - The Kobold Interest
While as previously discussed the prime origin of guns is not entirely known, most scholars agree that the invention of black powder did not begin with the Kobolds. That said however, when the gun did begin to arrive in the deep caverns several kobold clans took to them quickly. Seen as the next stage in the strategy of attacking enemies from afar, Kobolds were delighted in what they called "little lightning".
This did create an interesting dilemma for the clans though, as most Kobolds began to abandon their old names for a new appelation signifying their favorite tactic. Not being the most inventive of species, the Kobolds adopted an onomatopoetic approach to this adoption, favoring names like BangBang, BoomBoom, and PewPew. The historical challenges of sorting out the 14 different kobolds named BangBang that were at the battle of Galatian Ford aside, most Kobolds seemed to take offense at one of their kin adopting the same name as them, creating a drastic increase in interracial tension and violence. Because of this, most of the kobold clans that did adopt firearm use often brought about the destruction of their tribe, making the modern Kobold gunslinger fairly rare.
That is not to say however...
****
I keep trying to write something specifically for Pteranox, but am struggling to make it not sound like everything else.
I will have something up this week on him though. At least the above proves that I can write. :)

First time posting and playing a play-by-post, very excited and hope to be picked. These are my rolled stats with the 4 going into my wisdom and the 2 into con to make a badass Druid with the aquatic terrain archetype. Planning to take a shark for my animal companion mostly for the hope of eventually having this.
Gratuitous Austin Powers jokes aside if you don't feel like dealing with animal companions i have no objection to taking the other option. Will Post full character later tonight or tomorrow.

4d5 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 5, 2) + 3 = 17 15
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 3) + 3 = 15 14
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 1) + 3 = 12 11
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 1) + 3 = 11 10
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 4) + 3 = 16 15
4d5 + 3 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 5) + 3 = 17 16
1d4 ⇒ 3
1d2 ⇒ 2
I'm close friends with Mopsank's player and I've been salivating over the thought of playing in this game as he's told me stories about the game. I am definitely submitting a character to this - this is excellent.
I have decided on the character I want to play. I will be creating an Oracle who will eventually take the Scaled Disciple feat to become a Dragon Disciple. Scale color, mystery, and curse are undecided - but I am leaning towards Red, Volcano, and Blackened.

This reminded me of something from long ago.

EmissaryOfTheNorth |

Let's give it a roll, Kobolds rock and pirates too.
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 3) = 16
13+3=16
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 5) = 21
17+3=20
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2, 1) = 10
9+3=12
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 1) = 11
10+3=13
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 6) = 11
10+3=13
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 3) = 16
14+3=17
Okey, that's actually nice. I will work around it for a bit, right now I'm thinking about a Swashbuckler, a Gunslinger, a Swashbuckling Gunslinger, a Gunslinging Swashbuckler or who knows what. Maybe a swashbuckling gunslinging swashlinger, who knows. Or a Cleric.

EmissaryOfTheNorth |

I didn't read the "roll in order and add 1d4 and 1d2", and it's too late yo edit... but I like it, so let's go!
Extra: 1d4 ⇒ 11d2 ⇒ 1
So 1 goes to Int and another 1 to Cha, for a Grand total of...
Str: 16-4 = 12
Dex: 20+2 = 22
Con: 12-2 = 10
Int: 13+1 = 14
Wis: 13 = 13
Cha: 17+1 = 18
So... quite good -even perfect- for either Swashbuckler or Mysterious Stranger, or a mix of both!

Alright, take another running leap at Pteranox's back story...let's see what comes out.
*****
I PewPew, Little Lightning of Rockscale Clan in Amber Mount. I name Pteranox when little for scales so red they look black, but Pteranox stupid name, sound like nothing. PewPew sounds like little lightning. PewPew better name. I take PewPew.
PewPew was exploring. PewPew like explore. PewPew eyes better than clutchmates, daylight no scare. PewPew found fire rock. Firerock boom when fire. PewPew use fire rock make world's first little lightning. PewPew hero of clan. All worship PewPew. PewPew let others be boss cause boss boring. Like explore.
One day explore found people. People mean to PewPew. Little lightning not stop them. They take PewPew and his little lightning. Biterope on hands and neck. People pull biterope. Biterope bite PewPew. PewPew follow people. PewPew sad.
People take PewPew on floatwood. PewPew think hard and make storm come. Storm sink floatwood and PewPew escape with little lightning of PewPew. Now PewPew dark, cold, wet. Biterope back on PewPew. Where PewPew?
*****
Okay, I think I found his voice...kind of. Ego-maniacal and full of himself, to stupid to realize that he can't actually summon thunder and lightning when he wants.

Dice gods be gental:
Str: 4d51 + 3 ⇒ (24, 32, 24, 47) + 3 = 130
Dex: 4d51 + 3 ⇒ (33, 35, 15, 1) + 3 = 87
Con: 4d51 + 3 ⇒ (11, 25, 20, 1) + 3 = 60
Int: 4d51 + 3 ⇒ (51, 34, 30, 10) + 3 = 128
Wis: 4d51 + 3 ⇒ (20, 24, 34, 21) + 3 = 102
Cha: 4d51 + 3 ⇒ (50, 14, 51, 9) + 3 = 127
Additional d4: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Additional d2: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Haha, I think those stats are pretty good. Ill post again.

Dice gods be gentle:
Str: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 3) + 3 = 14
Dex: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 2) + 3 = 15
Con: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 3) + 3 = 18
Int: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 2) + 3 = 19
Wis: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 3) + 3 = 14
Cha: 4d5 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 3) + 3 = 16
Additional d4: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Additional d2: 1d2 ⇒ 1
So after racial mods and assigning the additional dice:
Str: 8
Dex: 15
Con: 14
Int: 18
Wis: 13
Cha: 16
Thinking an arcanist would be the best choice for this roll and I see you don't have any arcane casters in the group.

EmissaryOfTheNorth |

Emissary, it's roll 5d4.
Well, isn't this embarassing? Remember kids, never talk, think or even exist without coffe running wild in yer blood! Aye!
Stats Again: 5d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 1, 4) = 11
So 13.
Stats Again: 5d4 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 3, 2) = 11
13 again.
Stats Again: 5d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 3, 1, 1) = 8
7 to 8 then 11
Stats Again: 5d4 ⇒ (1, 2, 1, 1, 4) = 9
8 to 11
Stats Again: 5d4 ⇒ (1, 4, 2, 4, 3) = 14
13 to 16
Stats Again: 5d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 3, 1) = 11
Aaaand 13.
Now I understand why you offer 20 pt buy. I'll think about it, still swashbuckling, tho.

Hokina |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Emissary, Teiidae, and Gramork:
You can do 25 point buy (min score of 8), or roll 4d5D1+3 (4d5, drop lowest, and add 3). Any score rolled as 6,7 is a 8.
So it is 4d5. Not 4d6, or 5d4. :)
Need to reroll stats: (should be 4d5, not 5d4 or 4d6)
Markshar | Gramork | Druid (Aquatic Archetype)
| Teiidae |
| EmissaryOfTheNorth |
Not finished:
| The Morphling |
| EmissaryOfTheNorth |
| (TwelvePointFivePercent) | ?Druid (Storm Druid)
| (TheWaskally) | ?
| (JoshB) | ?
Mostly or fully finished:
(Missing name)| Barebates | School Savant Arcanist
Dinglecanter Fizzlesnot | Sorc (Ooze Blineline)
Kaloora Plimp | The Archlinch | Sorcerer (Crossblooded Orc/Draconic (cold))
Ksaksa| derpdidruid | Barbarian/Alchemist
Pteranox (aka PewPew) | BC4Realz | Gunslinger
Squeek Seasong | rungok | Bard (Sea singer)
Just Wondering what teamwork feats people are considering ( and have taken for confirmed players)?
I think everyone, but Skrelznit, picked Stealth Synergy.
Skrelznit as a hunter has a animal companion. What different coloured Kobold is everyone? Would be hilarious to have a power ranger themed team.
Mopsank | Unchained Rogue | Black
Sassarra | aerokineticist | BlueGrauchi | Shaman | Green
Skrelznit | Hunter | black

I think everyone, but Skrelznit, picked Stealth Synergy.
Nope, Skrelznit took Stealth Synergy with everyone else. As a Hunter he gets Outflank automagically, so if the party chooses that for the teamwork feat Skrelznit will get one of his own to share with Looseal.
Outflank is highly recommended, but you need BAB +4 to choose it so not everyone will be able to this time.
