Beginner Box


Hi I am excited to get started into Pathfinder. I see the beginner box is on backorder and I was wondering if you guys had an idea when it will be available to ship again.

I've seen the figure 6-8 weeks being thrown around. You can always grab the digital version of it in the meantime (it's in the humble bundle at the $1 tier).

Nope. That was a week ago at least so it's more like 5-7 weeks. Turns out it takes places a while to print, assemble, and ship a new batch of boxes.


Oh goodness.... That is a long while.... I know I have the digital stuff but I was really looking to start learning how to play with physical copies.

That's still a hell of a lot better than the back-order supply situation from Z-Man Games. Nobody here gets that, but tabletop games industry slam!!!. Seriously though, the Chinese are really up to *here* with printing orders these days.

The Beginner Box is on backorder for Paizo.com as we blew through the stock we had with the Humble Bundle event (ends March 9th, 2016). There is a very real possibility it is in stock at other retail locations (Friendly Local Gaming Stores and online retailers as well). While we love when people are able to get it directly from us, we encourage folks to pick it up where it makes sense for them.

If you're okay with waiting, potentially until July, for our reprint to come in, I would encourage you to check out Humble Bundle since contributing $25 (plus shipping) gets you a Beginner Box and part of the proceeds go to charity (you can adjust the sliders on how the percentages of your contribution are divvied up if you want to). Depending on where you live and what your options are for purchasing games, this could mean saving a bit of $$.

Otherwise, by all means, pick it up where it makes sense. (I'm a personal fan of local store purchases since its directly impacting the economics of your local gaming area). But we encourage people to do what makes sense for them.


I've a question: I go the Humble Bundle and, to ship my Beginner's Box* , I attempted to apply a five dollar store credit; the thing is, my bill (that I printed) showed the shipping cost and that five dollar credit was applied... but didn't show a reduced amount in the "Total Order". The only reason I'd applied the credit was for the shipping, but does that work? I just wasn't sure what, exactly, happened with that.

* (I'm okay with waiting - I'm just happy you guys are doing so well~!)

I only ask to know: it's important that this isn't a complaint so much as a, "Hey, while we're on the subject, I wasn't exactly sure how my bill was impacted, due to poor reading comprehension on my part..." type of thing.

It looks like the store credit was applied to the order successfully. Using store credit does not change the overall order total (as the total amount paid will still be the same, just part of it will be in store credit, and part of it will be on the card on file when it is processed for shipping. Your card will just be charged for the difference.

I hope that helps clear things up. Also, we're glad to hear that you're excited :D

Just called Paizo today 15 march 16 the beginner box backorder is now estimated at June or July they just dont know.


Thanks for the update, smillie382003. I still have not received my beginner's box. It's June 19th. I probably won't be doing this Humble/Pathfinder thing again.

Is it in your sidecart, and if so did it appear in your auth email for this month? My BB is supposed to ship this month along with my subs but hasn't been sent yet. As for the wait, see my post above; reprinting things takes time and the backorder notice was pretty prominently displayed on the HB site. Plus you still got the boatload of pdfs (mostly) right away.

If having to wait a couple months is anathema to you, stay far away from Kickstarter...

Did you check your orders?

The Humble Bundle did not include shipping. That has to be paid for separately before the actual box will be sent to you.

I got mine weeks ago at the beginning of June

Your order was not submitted. Log in and click on My Account.

Scroll down until you see the box that says Humble Bundle Redemption on the right hand column near the bottom.

Clicking on that will take you to the screen where you redeemed the codes.

Scroll down past the box that has all of the redeemed codes in it and you will see the Beginner Box and some tabs for shipping, billing, and confirmation.

Clicking on shipping and billing boxes will let you put in the information you need.

Clicking on the confirm tab will show you a review of the order.

Make sure to push the Submit Order button on that tab to submit your order (this may be what you had missed).

When you do that you will receive an email confirmation and will be able to see the order in your order history.
