On the topic of "extreme" weather, I've had a few close calls with tornadoes (you tend to when you grow up in Southern Illinois). The closest would have to be the afternoon one jumped over our little podunk town. My Mom, brother, and I stood at the top of the basement steps, ready to for cover, while my Dad went out in the front yard (it was one of those kinda odd tornadoes where there wasn't any rain and very few clouds), and watched it go by about 1/4 mile away. But we had several that just missed the town, staying out in the corn and bean fields, and a few that hit neighboring towns. I wasn't too worried, though, unless I could actually hear the tornado. Then I moved to Florida (big mistake for several reasons), and got to sit through a couple of hurricanes. The first one really freaked me out. At first, it wasn't bad, just like one of the big thunderstorms I'd been through so many times in Illinois. But those a generally over fairly quick, they tend to move too fast. This one just kept going. And going. And going. It seemed like it would never stop. Add in that I was alone for the first time in the house that normally had 3 other adults and assorted children in it, and was reading the Zombie Survival Guide, so I eventually freaked out enough to call my Dad. He was visiting, and staying in a nearby hotel. He drove over, took me back to the hotel, and I stayed there for the night. The next couple were still a little unnerving because it just feels like they're never going to end, but I handled them better. It was funny when one of them spawned a tornado in Jacksonville and that was all that anyone would talk about for like a week. I saw the footage and thought "Eh. It's a little baby twister. It didn't hardly do anything. Look at all the damage the hurricane did!" But everyone was used to hurricanes, while tornadoes were exciting and new!
Basically, it all comes down to what you are used to.
I live in New Jersey so blizzards and hurricanes are as bad as we get. Sandy was pretty bad, depending on where you were. The town I lived in at the time I had about a bucket of water leak into my basement. A mile away half the town was underwater and the people in shelters. I would have been one of them but for the fact that I did not take the rental offered because of habitability issues.

Yep, it all depends on what you are used to.
I've always said (right or wrong) that tornadoes didn't bother me, because you could usually dodge them. The odds of it targeting YOU were low, even if it wrecked a neighborhood close by. Even back in the 70's they could track the silly things and warn you if you were in it's (current) path.
Hurricanes, on the other hand, give you LOTS of warning, but there ain't no dodging something the size of the state you live in! :P Hunker down, or get the heck out of Dodge! :D

Just got back from a tabletop game. My god I had forgotten the crazy shenanigans eight middle-aged nerds can get up to when clearing a dungeon. My bard explored his vicious mockery cantrip, insulting a water weird by calling it a sad excuse for a dihydrogen monoxide molecule and speculating on its mother’s origins in a toilet bowl.

Our core group of 4 started back in college, and we and our other friends and family kept playing on and off until a few years ago. We would still play today, if we all lived in the same STATE. ;P

I hope it works out. Right now my plan is to run this kind of patched together homebrew Pathfinder thingie, get the PCs to at least 18th level and THEN maybe/possibly be ready to fight Krampus.

I'd be better if both of my dogs got along better. I mean they're fine in the same room, but the older one keeps wanting to sleep in my bed instead of upstairs in my mom's room.

Is anyone having trouble finding the Gamer Talk portion of the forums? I had to hunt for this in the search bar just to find it.
I'm just going to go on record here by saying that so far I really, really DO NOT LIKE this new format.
I've seen some other posts saying they're not finished with it yet. I hope they restore some semblance of the easier methods of navigating we're used to. I'm afraid this will drive off some users.
It's definitely taking steps toward convincing me to take a few days off at least.

Hey look, the forums are super modern and hard to use now! Just what I wanted for Christmas!
The first time I tried to load the "Off-Topic Discussions" forum, my browser crashed.
Yep, I did NOT see the warning about the updates, so was caught completely by surprise. ;P
Will certainly take,... some getting used to. :/
I understand everyone is moving to a format that looks like this, (more pictures, less words) but some of us older folks can actually read, and LIKE knowing what button were pushing! ;P
Ah, just kvetching. At least it didnt take me too long to figure out that the usual tabs I use were under my profile, instead of at the top of the page. :)

I'm guessing the recent slow responses, etc were all a part of them trying to prep the system for the big software upgrade, without actually shutting everything off, yet.(?) that would explain a lot I think.
The change was jarring at first certainly, but I hope that I have enough patience left (although my teenagers are BOTH taking large chunks out of my patience recently. A LOT of large chunks,...) O_o
anyway, I hope I have enough patience left to let them give the new website a shakedown cruise, find and work out the inevitable bugs, etc, before passing anything resembling 'Final Judgement'. ;P
What can I say? Some of us just dont like change. I myself am a big fan of, 'If it aint broke, stop fixing it!'. :)

I'm not going to stop hanging out in the treehouse just because the website got a new facelift! ;P

Paizo is one of the ONLY websites that I do occasionally visit on my phone and tablet, when I'm away from a PC. I wonder if the new graphics-heavy site will affect my ability to peruse Paizo on my mobile devices?
Only one way to find out! :)

I am sure they are still working on it but I like this. Then again, I am on my phone, it looks different than on a computer.

It seems to be a work in progress. It's not quite finished yet, according to what I've been seeing. I'll admit I didn't like it at first but they're still working to make it better. Don't give up!

*gave up yesterday* But not on the forums. Mostly because I've been through worse. There were very BAD forums in the 90s folks!

Yeah, I've noticed a few positive changes within the last few hours. Overall still a step backward, in my opinion, but better than it was yesterday.

Ok. I don't love 'em, but they seem to have fixed the problems I had the most issues with. Adapt and overcome.
Ah, well. Enough griping about the new look. There are several threads for it already. Let's get back to the business we're used to.. lol
For starters, I have a toothache. A bad one. And my vehicle is currently not running and I have to rely on others from everything to grocery shopping to medical appointments. My dentist is in a town 15 miles away and it's a hassle to ask anyone to take me there, but I'm afraid I may have to break down and (gently) bite the bullet.
Oof, owies. Toothache bad.

They are. Unfortunately I don't have any cloves in the house and so far no one has answered my texts about needing a ride to the store. :(

Hurricane Harvey. My home is right next to the Addicks Reservoir.
I used to find rain sounds relaxing - now they are literally panic inducing.
