Titan fighter with a bastard sword

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

Now the titan fighter arc type states that the player can use a two handed weapon one size category higher than him as a two handed weapon. Since the bastard sword is considered as a martial two handed weapon without the exotic weapon feat it would count as a two handed weapon. My question is, would a player using this arc type chooses to use a large bastard sword, and then take the weapon proficiency that would allow him to wiled the large sword one handed?

Yep!

In fact, I believe the iconic barbarian (Amari?) does this exactly, but with a -2 to attack.

no, he can't wield it one handed. the feat would take off the additional -2 on the attacks because it goes from over-sized two-handed weapon to a two-handed weapon.

Bigrig I think was confused at what you were asking, since Amari? wields a large one in two hands with the -2 like normal with the feat.

Amiri.

The titan fighter is designed to use weapons out of your size category, not bastard swords at the right size for you.

Relevant FAQ is relevant. Once you are using the bastard sword one handed it becomes a one handed weapon and the titan fighters 'Giant Weapon Wielder" ability no longer applies.

The writer of the Titan fighter has stated that he intended the class to actually let you wield oversized weapoins.

Both Titan classes, Barb and Fighter, now let you wield oversized weapons. But neither would let you 1 hand a large bastard sword.

To state it simply, you cannot wield a 1 Handed Weapon that is sized for a creature larger then you in one hand.

Large 1h Weapon becomes a 2h weapon in a medium sized creatures hands.

By taking the exotic weapon proficiency and allowing you to treat a Bastard Sword as a 1h weapon, it does not change that it is still a Large Bastard Sword and still needs to be held in 2 hands. It does however now have a lower penalty.
