Anyone recall a trait or feat that allows a character to ?

Advice

Speed read, as in shaves off research time, or allows you to memorize a map at a glance and such ?

Grand Lodge

In the Pathfinder Society Primer there is the spell Kreighton's Perusal, but that is all I know of.

Grand Lodge

How about Page Bound Epiphany, one of the best bonus out of combat to knowledge spells ever?

My Psychic Searcher Oracle is totally taking that spell!

Hmm

The Lore psychic discipline gives some pretty cool instant memorization powers.

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The Memorize Page and Hypercognition spells also help with this.

The psychic Lore discipline and Pathfinder Field Agent prestige class 'eidetic memory' ability are other options.

Memorize Page has a cumbersome 10 minute casting time.

I love this spell. All my knowledge-based characters keep a wand of this in a spring-loaded wrist sheath. Add a handy haversack with all the the Pathfinder Chronicles in it, and you have +2 to any knowledge check in a single round.

Grand Lodge

How do you pick up the Pathfinder Chronicles? Are these items anyone can purchase?

EDIT: I just found the Pathfinder Chronicles. And we own the book they come from. Holy moly, I think I found an essential piece of equipment for my knowledge based characters!

Utilizing the chronicles takes more then a round... well unless you spent the hour on the right book earlier in the day I suppose.

The spell Kreighton's Perusal takes only a standard action to cast.

The bigger question is can you peruse stuff that is in your haversack... Pagebound Epihany is a larger bonus, but it's a second level spell and takes longer to cast. On the other hand, you can use six charges of your 1st level wand when an adventure starts and have that +2 all day on the skills listed. That's... just awesome.

All my skill monkeys are going to want this!

I don't have access to the book right now. Are the six volumes listed in Nethys the only ones listed in the Pathfinder Primer? Are those the only ones you can purchase?

It isn't a trait or feat, but Cassisian Angel familiars have perfect memory. Flash that map in front of one and it has it instantly memorized.

The difficulty is I'm not a spell caster...so I was really hoping for a non-magical means....

What class are you?

After looking at those...none really seems to actually shorten the time needed to read something.

Character is an Investigator, so making checks to recall information is not really the issue. I'm looking more for something that for example allows me to read a book that is supposed to take an hour to read...in fifteen minutes (or less).

There are several feats that allow wizards to prepare/study spells in a much shorter period of time...so I was hoping there was a non-spell focused version....

Grand Lodge

UMD + Wand of Kreighton's Perusal. Or you could get your party's casters to use it on you.

Hmm

otherwise known as "I cast wikipedia"

Grand Lodge

Yep. Love that spell!

That's really awesome. I'll remember that one for sure.

I can't find one. I does seem like an appropriate ability to an Investigator or Rogue to be able to acquire. Maybe someone will make a Rogue Talent like this in a future book.

Psionics are 3pp nowadays, but memorization always reminds me of Autohypnosis.

Then Kreighton's Perusal is exactly what you're after. In a standard action, you get an hour's worth of reading from a book.

Move action: Retrieve the appropriate book from haversack

Swift action: Pop wand from spring-loaded wrist sheath
Standard action: Cast spell, get full value from book
Not an action: Knowledge check at +2
Free action: Profit! (ie, tell your friends what you know ;-) )
