Rules Questions

anyways i have been thinking about making an albino kobold andthe only thing i found was the drawback:

Albinism

You lack pigmentation in your skin, giving you a distinctively pale appearance. Your skin is very sensitive to sunlight.

Detriment: You must make a Fortitude saving throw for every hour that your skin is exposed to direct sunlight. The DC is 15 +1 for every hour that you’ve been exposed. A failure causes 1d4 hit points of sunburn damage.

would this effect a creature that does not have skin but fur or scales? should i have this character pack sun-tan lotion and carry an umbrella?

I think you can just describe the character as albino and not worry about mechanics. They aren't really necessary.

Why make it albino? Kobolds naturally come in all the colors of dragons, and there are White dragons. You can even get a frost breath weapon, to double down on your white dragon bloodline.

If you were a sorcerer or wizard, you could ask your DM if you could take the Cantrip Penumbra. Then you could constantly have your own personal shadow. Other than that their is Protective Penumbra as 2nd level cleric, oracle, sorcerer, wizard, witch spell.

If your scales aren't pigmented then you can totally get a sunburn, just like your fingernails can.

As for preventative measures, I hear cloaks, gloves, and big hats are popular.

The zoo I used to work at had an albino alligator and they needed to keep him shaded otherwise he would get sunburns. I don't know about fur though.
