Blasts (and the Snake infusion) require a target. What that target IS, is entirely up to you. It could totally be a point in space if you ask me.
Note that you can't combine the Snake and Extreme Range infusions though.

I've seen mark seifter compare it to dimensional door....so yeah, it seems legit.
Oh, and Torbyne, I am pretty sure the speed for ride the blast is slightly lower though (but your number might be including move actions, so who knows).
But it is kinda a moot discussion- you are getting over 100mph, and that is based off of in combat movement. Horses go around 30 phm, but only 50' in a round which kinda typifies the land speed in game; you are 10x faster than a horse with any kineticist, and 20x with an air user. Or is that 5x and 10x, assuming land speed is about double move actions?
General point is- you are fast than anything that isn't actually teleporting. You have to get into some of the crazier monster entries to find things that can consistantly keep up with you.

Out of curiousity Mark, the level of abilities in the initial description and in the abilities themselves don't match up for some of the phytokineticist powers. For example toxic infusion(Greater) is listed as 7th level infusion but is listed as 4th under its description. Forest Siege and Wood Soldiers are listed at 8th level in the summary but 9th level in the ability descriptions.

Soldiers and siege are both 9th like in the description. Greater toxic infusion is 7th (4 burn), like in the listing. I will add that this is also a weird thread in which to ask that question, though it is a good question.

Stupid question that pertains to ride the blast. Let's say I fell off a cliff. I'm plummeting to my death, and I forgot my boots of the cat. Assuming my GM let's me take a turn (big cliff) can I target a square on the ground, shoot a blast, then ride it to safety? Can I use it to cross, say, a chasm? Get out of a net? This sounds really cool, but want to make sure it works

I don't know about the rules vagaries, but I'd declare any GM that doesn't allow that an official No Fun Person.
