Help with NON PFS character build.

Advice

Hello everyone, I am about to join a campaign wrath of the Righteous. We are starting at level 1 and already have a paladin. Plan on going to 20. All races and classes legal and it's a 20 point buy, but should stay on the good side so no evil characters. I need help creating a bada** demon hunter. I don't have much experience in pathfinder, I would prefer to be front lines and doing damage, while at the same time not dying. inquisater, hunter, slayer, ranger was suggested to me. So what build can you guys and girls make that will make my character significant in the campaign?

So what you're trying to make is a demon hunter that has the same roll as the paladin?
Are you trying to compete with the paladin?

Are you the paladin, or is someone else playing the paladin?

Someone else is the paladin, I would like a character that is not a paladin, but gets in melee, I am thinking ranger with twf or the inquisater. I have never played an inquisator, but I have played a ranger in 3.5.

I also saw the warpreist, are they any good at melee, or do they normally stay in the middle of the group?

Warpriests are great at melee.

Inquisitors are very good at melee too. They probably deal more damage than a Warpriest, but the Warpriest can make use of more elaborate combat styles (such as TWF or Archery) thanks to their many additional combat feats.

If you want to go Ranger, you can get the Demonslayer archetype. It's pretty damn awesome for that AP in particular, but expect your character to get out of the spotlight when there are not demons around.

If you are not interested in spells, a Deliverer Slayer could be interesting. They are basically the same as Rangers but more versatile at the exchange of less power.

Reading over the inquisitor, I think I will try that. Now I need a race and any archtypes that are good for doing a lot of damage to demons.

If you go Inquisitor, avoid TWF. It is VERY crappy for them. They are VERY good at using big ass weapons though.

Anyway, do 2H with Heavy Armor Proficiency (pick it up at level 1), you won't regret it. Pick the Cold Iron Warden archetype.

The Friendship Domain is pretty good for this concept, and so is the Banishment Inquisition.

You could go with a Grappling Build. Grappling offers some truly formidable tactical capabilities that the party would very much appreciate, enabling you to quickly and effectively sodomize the most powerful demons, albeit 1 at a time.

Warpriest is awesome at the 2 weapon thing, since you can use your Sacred Weapon Damage instead of your weapon's regular damage, you can use dinky weapons with high Threat Ranges like Kukris and then start taking Feats like Improved Crit, Crit Focus, and Bleeding Crit (or one of those other evil crit feats). Maybe also take Seize the Moment via a level of Cavalier and have an Attack of Opportunity Build that builds off your many Crits.

I just offered a pretty powerful Natural Attack build on the thread called Way of the Angry Bear 3: The Guide to Bear Fisted Fighting! Some of the finer points of the build are still being sorted out.

Okay I am thinking very hard about going Aasimar for my race. I also feel like using a nice big weapon, maybe even a hammer or something to that effect. Which class would give me more damage with melee? I am thinking inquisator?

Inquisitor is some of the best melee damage out there.

Aasimar is very good for Cold Iron Warden z inquisitors.

For initial stats: S16 D12 C12 I10 W13+2 CH13+2 (20 point buy)

Pick up Heavy Armour Proficiency, then Power Attack, then Furious Focus, Extended Bane, Improved Channel.

Remember you need mithril heavy armour by level 11.

That sounds like a very good build. Thank you. I think my friend is going the warpreist route any advice for him?

Tell him to post here.

Expanded answer: Warpriest is a pretty straight forward class but it has a ton of different angles in which you can approach it. It's hard to think of a single build that beats all of them.

Well as I was looking around, I do like the warpreist, but I also found primal bloodrager. With that as an Aasimar, with the celestial bloodline I can skip level 4 and 8 bloodline powers and have 4 rage powers instead.

Grand Lodge

Half orc with sacred tattoo and Fates favored.

Primalist, Spelleater, Arcane Bloodrager.

I have post several slightly different builds...just search Carl Jr in the advice forms. You will find it.

Aasimar is so over played you might as well be a paladin. That is just trying to play up angelic dude. Focus on wrath more than righteous lol.

I think the plan for the group is to be Aasamir race and then we all have a different class. That is why I am Aasimar. I will search for your builds. Thank you!

Avoid the racial feats then. Wings is not worth it.

But as a player I would not like to be locked to aasimar. They are suppose to be rare anyways. Takes the rarity out of the race.
