Improving Fighters with VMC

Advice

So, I finally got around to checking out Variant Multiclassng (VMC) in a little more detail, and while giving up all of your feats is a pretty hefty trade-off, it occurs to me that the once class that can totally do without the extra feats is a fighter -- and that fighters can benefit the most from borrowing class features from elsewhere.

I'm a huge fan of the fighter (in theory), and I've been tinkering with some builds, but I'm curious what others have come up with. So what do you guys think? What's the best class for a fighter to VMC into? What's the best way to overcome the fighter's weaknesses?

In another thread I mentioned Fighter with VMC into Wizard Conjuration (Teleportation). You get a swift action teleport which scales the distance you can travel with your level. Also, gives you a familiar and you could take Improved Familiar to make it better. The teleport does end your turn, but you can take your familiar with you as well and it does not provoke.

Also, with VMC, I don't think you give up ALL of your feats. You only give up about half of the ones you get from leveling. Still, a potentially hefty cost for non-Fighter classes.

Personally, I think the bard VMC provides the most 'bang for the buck' especially for the fighter. trade out 3,7,11,15,19 feats for bardic knowledge, bardic performance, a versitile performance and a buff to bardic performance? Yes please. Shores up the figther's skill deficit quite nicely.

Have a look here. Someone has did a very thorough review of VMC options. If you want to increase damage, Cavalier is pretty awesome.

I think Alchemist could be a lot of fun for a Fighter. Mutagens for a full BAB class?! Yippee! Bombs to add to the fun and flavor?! Yum!
