Magus learning non-magus spells

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Is there a way to do this?

A feat a race anything of the sort?

I want to go kensai/bladebound magus, but would like things like mage armor and such.

the Broad Study arcana combined with multiclassing along with the Mindblade archetype allow mixing in spells from other classes.

Also, Use Magic Device is a class skill, you could get a wand of mage armor. what other spells are you looking for?

Were in the Wrath of the Rightoues game.

Maybe some spells from Divine areas? Is that even possible?

Use Magic Device I didnt even notice I got that.

Can that be used to cast spells higher then 7th level?

the divine Magus is the Inquisitor mostly or Paladin really. If you go Magus six then the rest of your levels in a divine class you can use blended Arcana to basically make a divine magus who ends the game with 7th level spells.

The magus has some class features that let him take spells from the Wizard list.

Otherwise there is a race called Samsaran that is famous for his optional trait Mystic Past Life. In the Magus case would let you take a number of spells up to your Int modifier from the spell list of another class with arcane spellcasting.

Given that you seem interested in spells that are usually from divine spellcaster, you should look to take spells from the Witch or Bard lists.

UMD can be used to activate scrolls and wands of spells you don't have in you class list. Although high level scrolls have a particularly high DC (34 for level 7 scrolls), if divine are keyed off Wisdom or Charisma and are a consumable costly resource.

The divine Magus actually is the Warpriest, the Inquisitor is more a foil to the Bard, while the Paladin has now a counterpart in the Bloodrager and Ranger.

The Spell Blending magus arcana lets a magus learn sorcerer/wizard spells. No multi-classing or special race required.

But he has to wait until 6th level to do so, I believe. The Kensai magus has canny defense, so he has one pt of armor class back already and gets one more per kensai level up to his intelligence bonus.

The arcana has no prerequisite.

Spell Blending (Ex): When a magus selects this arcana, he must select one spell from the wizard spell list that is of a magus spell level he can cast. He adds this spell to his spellbook and list of magus spells known as a magus spell of its wizard spell level. He can instead select two spells to add in this way, but both must be at least one level lower than the highest-level magus spell he can cast. A magus can select this magus arcana more than once.

The down side, of course, is that you add only one spell to your book instead of two. Mage Arnor and See Invisibility are two good applications for this arcana, although a combination of Arcane Sight and Glitterdust can work.

It's the Broad Study Arcana, not the blended Arcana.

Hexcrafters get all spells with the Curse descriptor added to their spell lists.

The Two-World Magic trait will get you an arcane, divine, or psychic cantrip/orison/knack.

Mindblades get limited access to the psychic spell lists.

Dual Path with Archemage: Enduring Armor > Mage Armor. Even without Enduring Armor, you'll still want to dual path either Champion/Archemage or Guardian/Archemage. Enduring Armor + Mythic Paragon can make for a very high AC on a dexterity build kensai.

Broad Study allows 1-2 spells from the wizard spell list.

Magus Warpriest multiclass would be interestimg... theoretically you can drop 2 buffs in ypur first round (fervor+spell combat)

Hm... fervor + spellcombat (bladed dash) could be intersting...

Nope. Spell Blending lets you add spells from the Wizard spell list.

Broad Study lets you use Spell Combat and Spellstrike with spells cast from any non-Magus slots that your other classes have.

The magus can use his spellstrike and spell combat abilities while casting or using spells from the spell list of that class. This does not allow him to cast arcane spells from that class's spell list without suffering the normal chances of arcane spell failure, unless the spell lacks somatic components. The magus must be at least 6th level and must possess levels in at least one other spellcasting class before selecting this arcana.

People always seem to confuse these two Arcana.
