It's pretty clumsy right now, having to switch from inbox to sent messages to review a private conversation.
It would be better if you could view all messages in that subject that came before.

This is something I have on my wishlist actually. Hopefully we see this kind of improvement the next time the tech team addresses the forums :)

This message board gets slow and flakey enough as it is. If you want to establish a social network there are plenty of venues for that.
Although it's by no means universal, there are enough people on the boards now who don't want to share their RL identities and contact information that I'd be a little reluctant to tell them that they have to use another venue for something like that. Besides, the only times I've really wanted threading were related to a campaign being run on the boards; if it's not going to be prohibitively difficult, that change seems like a reasonable thing to enhance the use of PMs *as a campaign tool*.
Good to hear it's on the Wish (CL20) list.

LazarX, if you don't want people using PMs, why do we have them? They exist to be efficient ways for people who don't really know each other to initiate communications. :P

I actually think this would be a great update to the PM option. Being able to directly read an ongoing conversation via PM with my players as opposed to having to track back through each individual message and its response would be a helpful boon.
I'm asking for a message system similar to what Paizo already uses for threads.
I'd be happy with any solution that makes PMing better though. It's clunky as is.
LazarX, if you don't want people using PMs, why do we have them? They exist to be efficient ways for people who don't really know each other to initiate communications. :PI have absolutely no problem with people using PMs. That's not what the poster is asking for. What he's asking for is a whole new message system to be bolted on top of it. And given how much of a problem response time and lag is an issue on the board as it is... I'm not in favor of yet having ANOTHER function bolted onto it.
Honestly, LazarX, if anything I think a more streamlined format that we are describing would help keep things less clunky. Instead of constant opening and backtracking of each individual PM in a conversation, you would have a single click and opening of one thread that allows someone to view string of messages as one conversation. Less "clicking" means less work for the servers to have to sort through.
