What would you like to see in an official second Advanced Race Guide book?
I'd like to see stats for:
Anubis (Egyptian Mythology)
Centaur (ARG)
Cthulu-like-race*
Dragonkin**
Drider (ARG)
Elementals***
Gargoyle (ARG)
Gathlain (B4)
Gnoll (ARG)
Goron (Zelda)
Kasatha (B4)
Lizardfolk (ARG)****
Minotaur
Nagaji (B4)
Nekojin (Cat-people)
Ogre (ARG)
Protoss (StarCraft)
Trox (B4)
Wyrwood (B4)
Wyvaran (B4)
Zora (Zelda)
(bold is what I want the most)
I'd also like to see favored class bonuses for all previous races for classes that have been introduced since the ARG.
I would also like to see illustrations comparing all the races similar to this one (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-decgIL_-zQI/UfmbIF1hKsI/AAAAAAAAAas/sys-CTIsEr4/ s1600/pathfinder_races.png).
*Something Eldridge inspired would be awesome, tentacles and stuff you know?
**Here is an example of what I mean (http://pathfinderwiki.com/mediawiki/images/thumb/4/45/Blue_dragonkin.jpg/2 50px-Blue_dragonkin.jpg)
***It would be cool to be able to roll one of the elementals as a PC. You could use alternate racial traits to choose between the different types of elementals.
****Lizardfolk are weird because there is an example of them in the ARG as well as a beast of the same name in the Bestiary. In this case I am referring to the one shown in the ARG
*****For any races based on another IP, I'd like to see a version of them represented in the Pathfinder Universe.
******ARG indicates that the race was used as an example at the end of the book in the section dedicated to building your own races

Really, I am not too keen on adding too many more races since there is already a huge variety plus a race builder.
I think I would be more interested in seeing more expansions for existing races, like an entire book that gave the core races the treatment that the Blood of X line gives.
I also really want to see more racial feats, weapons, and spells to expand on things like weapon familiarity.
Expanding on the background rules for non core races from Ultimate Campaign would be good.
More bastard races like half-dwarves, half-gnomes, and quarterlings might be neat. Or a bastard race template.
I 100% would like to see Dragonborn, but I want to see it be compatible with all the Kobold draconic feats.
Absolutely want to see more stuff for Lizardfolk and Gnolls, crunch related stuff like the SGG releases, but not broken and ridiculous.

My Self |

A better race creation system? 1 skill point/level is worth the same as +2 intelligence by the current system, which is not OK.
If you want Nekojin, consider taking a look at Catfolk.
I'd like to see some support for tieflings, sylphs, undines, oreads, and ifrits who don't want to be sorcerers. And actually, just support for elemental-ish characters in general.
I'd also like to see a more clockwork-robotic type of PC than Android.

Newbonomicon |

Wouldn't quarterlings be more like three-quarterlings? Except that you wouldn't get three quarterlings, because that would be confusing and a lot of characters and a problem. But you get what I mean?
Well, they'd be half-halfling, and half of a half is a quarter... but the half was already half of a human, so they're half-human and half-half-of-a-human... it gets really confusing and I'd rather not even consider how a human and a halfling would breed in the first place.

I made my own using the race builder: http://pdd.wikia.com/wiki/Nekojin

I made what your describing using the race builder: http://pdd.wikia.com/wiki/Clockmen

I wouldn't want a full hardback's worth, actually. Unless you're talking about an NPC Codex 2, focused on the Uncommon and Featured races with cultural showcases like in the Monster Codex. That'd be sweet. :3
That would be a lot of overlap with the Player Companions though, so they're probably not going to put that hardback together any time soon.

That's right- Totally forgot Fauns can be female (I have not been able to find my Bestiary 3 for months, and it's driving me bonkers). But yeah, I agree, being able to play either gender of a race is best. I always wished there were male Changelings.

I have bias, obviously, and a fair amount of hypocrisy, but I like female-only changelings. Double standard, I know. ^_^
That said, I haven't seen it (and it's not a player race)... but apparently the module Tears for Bitter Manor contains a male hagspawn. Behold, the caliban.

Maybe they could do something like the old folklore of a Fey stealing a baby and leaving something "else" behind for the parents to raise. Could be a cool way to add a playable Fey character.

That's basically the changeling, though - that's even where the name comes from. The faun/satyr would be a fine fey race, though.
Have you seen Heroes of the Wild, by the way? Fey-based alternate racial traits for every core race.

Caleb Garofalo |

I know what Protoss are. I was just confused at why you think Paizo would include them (even ignoring the fact that they can't because of Blizzard's copyright).
Refer to OP:
For any races based on another IP, I'd like to see a version of them represented in the Pathfinder Universe.
There was several on that list that came from other IPs.

Updated list:
Anubis (Egyptian Mythology)
Centaur (ARG)
Cthulu-like race
Dragonkin
Drider (ARG)
Elementals
Faun
Gargoyle (ARG)
Gathlain (B4)
Gnoll (ARG)
Goron (Zelda)
Kasatha (B4)
Lizardfolk (ARG)
Minotaur
Nagaji (B4)
Nekojin (Cat-people)
Ogre (ARG)
Protoss (StarCraft)
Saytr
Stitched-together race (Nightmare Before Christmas)
Trox (B4)
Wyrwood (B4)
Wyvaran (B4)

![]() |

How about a full write-up for:
Gathlain (B4)
Kasatha (B4)
Trox (B4)
Wyrwood (B4)
Wyvaran (B4)
and then more archetypes and options for existing races, especially those that got only a couple pages in ARG. Too many races just gets the setting confused.

As much as more and cooler races are great, I'd most like to see better support for the races that we already have. I play within Society rules almost exclusively, and there's only 4 non-Core races currently approved that don't require a boon (kitsune, nagaji, wayang, and tengu for those who don't know.) More Alternate Racial Traits and Favored Class Bonuses would go a long way toward making these races more usable within PFS.
As an example, Tengu have 4 Alternate Racial Traits and FCBs for only 7 of the 29 classes. Wayang and Nagaji have only 1 Alternate Racial Trait each, and have FCBs for only 4 classes. Meanwhile the core races have a dozen or more Alternate Racial Traits each, and many provide FCBs for all 29 classes.
It would be nice if Paizo could provide more support for PFS given that it's promoted as their own in-house campaign. There's a lot of great 3PP stuff out there for the non-core races. Perhaps Paizo could buy the rights to, or license some of, the best 3PP material (I'll admit I don't know how that would work, but I'm sure there's a way given enough lawyers and money.)

I'm actually far more in agreement with this; I just tend to address a thread's topic directly. ^_^
Changelings are pretty much my pet race, and I'd really like to see a lot more first-party options for them... especially heritage options for the other hags out there.

Tectorman |

A selection of races inspired by Monster Musume (though yes, I want males and females both):
Lamias
Centaurs
Harpies
Slime People
Merfolk
Driders
If there is no writeup for the race, there should be. If there is, it should be expanded upon.
Also, a further writeup of:
Catfolk
Fauns (not Satyrs)
Felitaurs
Dracotaurs
Minotaurs (well, a Medium variant, anyway)
Batfolk

Darigaaz the Igniter |

kobold paragons that are more in line power-wise to halflings and gnomes. Maybe with some draconic heritage alt racials.
dogfolk so the other players I game with can stop griping that there isn't one.
If there are centaurs, or any kind of taurs, I want some feats/archetypes that lets them act like a mounted combatant on their own.
Dragonkin race that's not just a human with a draconic head and scales. I want teeth, claws, wings (even if they don't allow full flight for a while), tail, breath weapon (preferably usable more than 1/day).
Half-dwarves. Because they really should be a thing.
Dryads or half-dryads, plant and/or fey race. I saw a thread in the homebrew section a while back about a race that was the result of a dryad selecting a treant as her home and the results of that relationship. I like that idea.

Tsutsuku |
I'd like to see some more subtypes get represented by races. Right now we have a ton of humanoids and some native outsiders, but I'd like to see a Paizo-created race that actually has some of the subtypes like undead, dragon, fey, and monstrous humanoid. I know you can do them in race builder, but most DMs I've played with do not allow it.
Other than that, please flesh out favored class bonuses for the already existing races and give them some more alternate racial traits and archetypes. I really like racial archetypes, so it always seemed like a shame to me that races like Suli, Kitsune, and Merfolk only have one racial archetype whereas Dwarves have 4.

Not official Paizo, but...
For dogfolk, Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved had the sibeccai, which someone did a Pathfinder conversion of.Similarly, AE had the dracha for a kind of dragonfolk, also converted here.
For half-dwarves, Dark Sun had that, called them mul. The Dark Sun people made a 3.5 conversion for the setting that includes them.

A lot of these are already in existence.
Cthulu-folk- Wasn't that the point of Qlippoth spawn tieflings? (there is a fairly clear indication that Qlippoth are meant to at least be somewhat lovecraftian- most of the demon lords that have lovecraftian names, such as Dagon, were originally Qlippoth). And the example illustrations had enough tentacles and such that it seemed appropriate enough for this role.
Cat-people- Ignoring the...connotations of what you want based off the images in your links... I am pretty sure that Paizo touches on both varieties.
Lizardfolk, Gnolls, Nagaji, Wyvaran, Wyrwood, Centaur-....what? There are stats for those. Some even have race specific feats, traits, and archetypes. Even if you argue that you want a full write up...nagaji already had that. And if it is just background info, Lizard folk have a fairly comprehensive one coming from their bestiary entry- it creates an interesting postcolonial narrative in relation to other races, especially humans.

Cuuniyevo beat me to it, but yes, it is.
Fluffy tail. Don't care too much about variety thereof, just needs to be a PC race with a fluffy tail.
Catfolk, kitsune, and Blood of Angels showed us here that aasimar can have fluffy tails too? Vanara? Maaaaybe monkey goblins, but I bet they're too unkept to have properly fluffy tails.

Well, there's the Advanced Race COMPENDIUM coming out in October, which seems (from the previews, anyways) to essentially be an Advanced Race Guide 2.
As for what I actually want, I've always been a fan of plant races.

Alexander Augunas Contributor |

I don't want any new races in an Advanced Race Guide. Introducing new races should be the strict realm of Bestiaries and Campaign Setting products.
Rather, I'd want to see all of the Advanced Race Guide races bumped up a notch. Featured Races expanded to Core level, Core races expanded to Featured level, and any new, unhighlighted races given the Uncommon treatment.
Although if we're REALLY being honest here, I'd want to see the kitsune, tengu, samsaran, and wayang expanded into the realm of the Core Races, since they technically ARE a Core Race in the Dragon Empires. Same with Catfolk in (Arcadia?).

Luthorne |
Personally, what I want would be: androids, dhampir, fetchlings, gathlains, ghorans, gripplis, ifrits, kitsune, lashunta, nagaji, oreads, samsarans, skinwalkers, strix, suli, sylphs, syrinx, tengus, trox, undines, vanaras, vishkanyas, wayangs, wyrwood, wyvaran, and probably the new races coming up in Bestiary 5 and Occult Bestiary.
Edit: Yeah, Alexander Augunas beat me to it. There were no new races in Advanced Race Guide except the example races created that later made their appearance in Bestiary 4. I don't really want new races for Advanced Race Guide 2, I want more useful information, alternate racial traits, favored class bonuses, and similar crunch for existing races that have very little information about them.

At some level, while there are flavor and mechanics concerns, I partially feel "can we just use a tiefling/aasimar?" for the majority of these requests. Those two races have such radical variance in its biology, and enough identifiable lineages, that you could justify a ton of different body types
With Agathions, you can write off a lot of the 'human, but with a couple animal parts attached' options. It would certainly cover the request for a different style of catfolk, and the Luthorne's linked image shows.

Yeah...I honestly don't think we need a book that dumps a ton of new races. Personally I think a sequel to the Advanced Race Guide would be kind of niche. Something like a hardcover "Dragon Empire Races" would be pretty sweet however (although I imagine that is kind of down the list quite a ways for Paizo publications).
