Left behind items, personas, and ownership (divination too i guess)

Ultimate Intrigue Playtest General Discussion

So. I'm honestly not sure if this is a real rule or not. so I'll talk about it then if i'm wrong someone let me know.
So for things like scrying and a few other divination spells. You can use a hair, or left over item right?

If II buy an item in soociial persona, and later use and lose it in vigilante form. If someone finds it and scry's for the owner. Which personalty does it gain? The one who acquired it, and also carried it. Or the vigitlante who carried and used it?

For instance a knife. Bought, carried and then thrown but the vigilante had to escape before retrieving it.

Which persona does it ping as?
Assuming of course that, that is an actual rule and note a houserule most of my dm's have used (entirely possible. I've never looked it up and don't know where one would)

Hrm... It would help to have specific text to parse as not all scrying spells are the same and I'm not sure if any actually require or use such a component.

My generic take on it: You use the item as a focus: mentally envisioning the person you're trying to find (let's say the Vigilante who threw the knife into Mr. Wizard's beloved pet cat Sir Bonkers), calling up that mental image. The spell would try to find the person the caster envisions. If you're currently in social mode, it would not find you.

If a skill tree falls in a playtest... does it make a sound?

Not so much during the night no
