Caster Vigilantes and Prestige Classes

Ultimate Intrigue Playtest General Discussion

If I make a Warlock 8/Eldritch Knight 2, does the warlock gain an effective increase in caster level and spells per day from the prestige class? Or does the talent-based mechanic for spell increases preclude him from gaining that benefit of the prestige class?

as it is now it precludes gaining more slots and spells known, just increases the caster level

Hrm. Well, that pretty much guarantees that Warlock and Zealot will never be taking a prestige class unless they're willing to give up their spell progression.

I thought it would increase spells prepared, but no slots or nrew spell levels.

but you'd gain more lv 1 spells prepared, or lv 2 if it was already talent unlocked.

They can know as many spells as they want,

Or they will just go evangelist. Still prestige classes are generally terrible anyway. You need a really specific reason to take one, and even still you are usually less powerful than you would have been if you didn't take it.
