Expected date on new Scenarios / Quests for Gencon?

Do we have an expected date for GMs receiving the new scenarios and quests released at GenCon? I'm particularly interested in the quests as I'm running four slots of them...

Based on prior experience, "As soon as they are fully built PDFs".

The target they have stayed on point to hit in the past is at latest the Friday before the show, to give at least a full weekend for prep.

I'm hoping to have them some time this week. I'm scheduled to run three specials and would like to have at least one week per special as prep time.

Sorry... I had to laugh at this. I know it's not nice, but it is unrealistic. 2 of the specials are done already so you should have them if you're running them, the other two as has been said, will probably go out the weekend before.

Lantern Lodge 1/5

Siege of Serpents and Serpents Rise have been up for several weeks (since right after PaizoCon I think). So if you're running those, they should be in your list already.

The scenarios are never late, nor ever early. They arrive precisely when John means them to.

Getting a special the weekend before the con is akin to trying to do your homework the night before it's due.

GM enough times at GenCon and you almost get used to it...

We get what you are saying. And we aren't trying to brush your concern aside.

But this is how Gen Con has worked. If this helps you figure out what you wish to volunteer for in the future, then please do use the information for that.

But the scenarios have basically come out the Friday before the weekend before Gen Con. That's just the way it works.

I think one yearJohn has a good year and they were out Wednesday or Thursday...

This is the way it has always been since the dawn of time. I should know, I was there!

I remember back in the first PaizoCon I went to back when they were at the Coast how I got a .doc version of an unedited, unreviewed special pretty much as I was getting on the plane just so they could get it out to us in some semblance of time.

No reason to complain about it or call out Paizo on it. They have tons to do and like anybody that's worked PM, they're constantly juggling all of the buttload (that's an actual term of measurement by the way) of Gen Con tasks at once.

I'm surprised them get them out as early as Friday honestly.

How much stuff are we expected to bring to run Quests? I know when I played them at GenCon in the past, the maps appeared to have been printed on card stock and supplied to the GMs. Will we need our own minis? Not that I can't supply any of this. I just hate having to do a lot of prep 5 days before I have to get on the plane to GenCon.

I plan on bringing some tokens with me to stand in for the enemies. Will save me some weight that will be used for scenarios, battlemats, and electronics. But, then again, I only have to drive to Indianapolis.

It would be great if everyone arrived fully prepared including stat blocks, maps, minis, etc. but, we are working on having the materials available from HQ. The quests are one of the backup options for GMs to prep should their scheduled game not run, so the hope is everyone will at least be read on the content and just need the materials.

At this time, it looks like the quests are the most likely item/s to be released before the 24th, but there is no guarantee. You should expect the quests, season seven scenarios, and specials to drop the evening of the 24th and plan your prep time appropriately. If they drop earlier, more the better.

Okay, now I am VERY confused. I just got an email regarding the Beginner Boxed Set Quests. I had told Mike to sign me up for whatever he needed me for and he signed me up for the QUESTS and GOBLIN 3D INVASION. I had assumed that the QUESTS were this year's equivalent to last year's Silver Hex Chronicles, but this email called all of this into question. I am not familiar with the Beginner Boxed Set rules and Quests. It is a little over a week to GenCon and don't really know what it is I am running there. Please help.

Lantern Lodge 1/5

I had the same confusion, but Bob reminded me that the original request for volunteer asked for ALL volunteers to at least familiarize ourselves with the Beginner Box Set quests, just in case the event you are actually scheduled for doesn't have any players.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

The term "quests" is being thrown about a bit too casually. To clarify, the Beginner Box Quests are the short 3-4 page adventures written for the Beginner Box materials. The "intro 1" set is a free download and can be found HERE. It includes Relics, Ruins, Terrors, and Tomes.

The "intro 2" set is the advanced Beginner Box Demo/Quests and includes Ice, Isles, Masks, Waves, and Woods. They are also free, available HERE.

The Kids Track Quests use the same scenarios as the Beginner Box events. See above

There is a "Quest" called Goblin 3D Invasion which is a large 3D battlemap (of Sandpoint I think) that will be used for quick (30-60 minute) skirmish games in the Sagamore. AFAIK, the final materials for this are not ready for publication yet, so we will have to wait a bit longer.

Finally, there is the Phantom Phenomena Quests which are the short, 30-60 minute, adventures in support of the Occult Adventures release and uses the iconic pregens. Last year was Silverhex Chronicles. If your GM schedule lists "Quests," this is what you are running. Again, I believe that the materials are still being finalized.

Grand Lodge 4/5

For any GMs that do not know, you should have work-in-progress copies of the GenCon scenarios in your downloads. If you do not, email Chris Lambertz to get that corrected. These copies will not have finalized maps, but will allow you to prep the story and NPC stat blocks.

Lantern Lodge 1/5

Really glad to get the in-progress copies. With 4 different scenarios to prep (and real life craziness), the added time will be immensely helpful.

For what it's worth...hand-drawn map that's in the back of 7-00 right now is quite entertaining. It's fun to see the process. :)

Grand Lodge 4/5

Now you got me wishing I could see it. :P

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 **

I presume that only applies to regular scenarios and not Quests as there is nothing currently in my downloads.

I have the Quests in my downloads. Bill, you probably ought to email Chris Lambertz with your Paizo.com email address. She can place those in your downloads.

Edit: Sorry, Chris, my bad!

Gen Con GMs should have received early versions of the July adventures (#6–99, #7–00, #7–02, #7–03, and the Phantom Phenomena quests) in their downloads. Early versions of #7–01 and the Goblin 3D Invasion have not been released yet because they were still in development at the end of last week. Expect these near the end of the week.

If you need the Beginner Box quests (used in the Kids Track), know that they are already available for free on paizo.com. You do not need to contact us about having these added to your downloads.

——Very Important——
Double check your paizo.com email address. It is a recurring problem that folks send us an email address not associated with their paizo.com account and ask for downloads. When this happens, it is very difficult (sometimes impossible) to track down which account is yours. Please double check your email address.

Not saying this is why you don't have downloads, Trollbill, but it's something that delays delivery to many volunteers.

d/l the 7-00 and 7-3 scenarios.
Maps on pages 9,69 and 72 of 7-00 do not come out.
Same with maps on 7-3 pages 16 and 33.
will these be updated soon or am I only one with this issue?

The early versions distributed did not all have the final art, including final map files. Expect these in the final versions when we update those files soon.

Thanks everyone. I still do not have them in my downloads so I will email Chris. I think I figured out what the problem is. The email account I use for Paizo is different from the email account I use for GenCon. I had to give Mike both so that he could put the tickets on my GenCon account. The last email I got regarding quests went to my GenCon email, not my Paizo one, so it looks like they have that for my email account to set up.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 **

FYI, it is still not in my downloads. I have emailed Chris again.

Bill, if it helps, mine are in an odd place, under the heading: Paizo Publishing, LLC: Ustalav

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 **

Well, that certainly is odd. I was expecting to find them under Paizo Publishing, LLC: Quests. But I don't have a Paizo Publishing, LLC: Ustalav heading in my downloads, so no go on that. Thank you anyway.

Well I have no doubt GenCon is a very busy time for the Paizo staff, to say the least.

Grand Lodge 4/5

I just got access to the GenCon stuff, so hopefully you have it too trollbill.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 **

Woot! Got'em! Personal panic attack averted.

The Exchange 3/5

I got an e-mail saying I have access to them and they were added to my downloads but I am not volunteering at Gen-Con.

However, upon searching for them, it doesn't look I actually have access to them. I wonder what the e-mail was about.

I have the same thing. I would say it is an "oops, used the wrong email list".
