Advice

I'm looking for advice on building a waves oracle. Some idea of what spells to pick and what equipment might be useful would be appreciated.

What ssort of tactics do you prefer in a devine caster? Do you like to wade into battle and keep up with your fighter buds? Do you like to maintain control of the battle field, buff your allies/debuff your enemies? Do you want to heal on the fly or do you like your healing between fights?

Having a feel of your playstyle would make spell suggestion easier.

Since I'm working with a -2 Strength penalty, melee is probably not a good idea. (I do a have +2 Dex and +2 Int. It's a custom race for the campaign.) I'm liking the idea of being more of a caster, but I don't want to be just a healer. I just don't want to pick something totally useless.

Liberty's Edge

Crossbow... Spells, well, if you want to use a feat for it, you could take the classic fire spells and attach the Elemental Spell Metamagic to it, make them Cold themed. You get your cure spells anyways, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I recommend melee, Fluid Nature makes you an incredibly resilient combatant. Go for Weapon Finesse and act as a defensive fighter with some shut down abilities (baleful polymorph as a spell like ability is your best tool later on), and use freezing spells to further debuff enemies.

Pick up an agile light weapon at your own pace, your goal is not damage but using your high dodge to tank. Eventually you can switch to a mithral medium armour.

Waves is a very good mystery for this kind of build.

Too bad you aren't using a hobgoblin or a tengu for easy proficiencies but oh well.

Liberty's Edge

Take a level in Swashbuckler with the Inspired Blade archetype and take Fencing Grace as your first feat, allowing you to use Dex to hit and damage with the Rapier, and make your oracle of waves a sort of Besmaran pirate type?

The Eldritch Heritage feat opens up blaster options for you - that is always worth remembering, be it additional damage or altering the elemental type.

With water sight, blizzard and obscuring mist you can be a pretty effective low level battlefield controller. Drop some mist to one side of the field then run over and blizzard the other, it could effectively create a bottleneck for the enemies to go down if they don't fly or are so dumb that they just run into the mist

How so?

Oops - tired post apologies, you get a bloodline power not arcana. Holds hand up.

It does tho. Arcane Bloodline adds Wizard/Sorcerer spells to spells known.

This is the character I'm working on. I don't have the stats set yet, but I think I'm going to aim for a 17 Charisma since I'm working with a 20-point buy. Possibly this? Str 11, Dex 13, Con 12, Int 12, Wis 10, Cha 17 (Sorry I keep editing, I typed the stats wrong.)

There was a FAQ about Eldritch Heritage gang, that when you get down to it, won't let the oracle get wizard/sorcerer spells. He can't cast them as they aren't on his spell list. If he grabs a spell already on his list, he's good to go.

Okay, I've done a little more work on Nalara. I think I'm going to give her leather armor to start, since her strength is so low. What would be a good weapon?
I think I've gotten most of her spells, I just need one more first level spell. (I'm taking water sight as her first revelation and obscuring mist as one of her first level spells. I'm choosing the cure spells, so she automatically has cure light wounds.) I'm trying to be careful and pick what she needs to be effective.
