Character concept: "Possesing Necromancer"

Advice

Hi,

during some of my silly moments I got an intressting idea for a character and I'm looking into how to make it possible.

The idea would be a necromancer who didn't summon/create undeads but instead transfer his consciousness into an dead body and could control it this way.
He can then use the body normally while his original body lays in stasis.

The question now is, is this a feasible concept for PF (rulewise, RP wise etc.) and how to build it with the current classes/feats etc.

Any ideas?

Dreamscarred released a psionics PrC, the body snatcher, in Psionics Expanded (and also in Ultimate Psionics) that might you give you a framework and ideas for building a necromancer-based equivalent.

Are you starting at level 9?

If not, what will you do for the first 8 levels?

Gravewalker Witch can possess undead like this

Find something else to do until you hit level 9 and can cast Magic Jar?

Linkied.

Skinsend is a 2nd level spell which creates something which looks a lot like an undead monster. If you're aiming for magic jar it could give you something to do at earlier levels.

Skinsend is a much more dangerous spell.

Gravewalker Witch looks promissing.
Only thing which bothers me is the "If your undead body is slain and not in reach of your body, you die".

I thought of the "possesed bodies" more like tools you can use until they are broken. If they brake while you possess them you get a "feedback" not "you die". :(

But it's a good start. :)

That is where permanent shrink item comes in. Carry your body in a pocket.

Comes late (10th level), but Beast Bonded's Twin Soul does this, only better.
