ACG Shirt Rerolls

If you are wearing a Pathfinder shirt, as listed in the Guide to Organized Play, and use a shirt reroll, are you allowed to add your GM stars from the PFS RPG to your reroll?

Not at present, and I would not expect that to be true ever.

Sovereign Court

A shirt is Pathfinder as a whole, GM stars have absolutely nothing to do with PACG. I neither expect, nor want, it to ever happen.

Also, adding 1–5 to a roll is a much bigger deal in the card game than it usually is in the RPG.

But man would it be handy against swarms!

Nope.

I had Pathfinder shirts on for all 4 days of Origins and didn't use a reroll once. Boooo! :(

To the PACG Staff, are there any thoughts on possibly allowing an additional re-roll of a die for every GM Star beyond one but it may not be used on the same check twice?

I would have started a different thread but I felt it was better to add the suggestion to this one which was already started.

I think the point is that GM stars come from GMing the RPG. While it's an indication to service to the playerbase of the RPG, it doesn't mean anything to the ACG community. Someone who demos a bunch and runs a lot of games does not earn stars (nor should they). It would seem unfair to those that support the ACG plenty to not be rewarded, while a person that GMs a bunch of the RPG but rarely plays the card game to get such a reward. (And I say this as a 1 star RPG GM)

There are crossover boons; if you'd like to earn a benefit from GMing the RPG, I suggest running the RPG adventure "Plunder & Peril".

Dark Archive 1/5

I was thinking along the lines of providing some incentive for RPG GMs crossing the steam into the PACG. I understand the ideal of keeping these aspects seperate as GM Stars mean nothing in relation to an organizers ability and rule knowledge for running a PACG event. This is merely an idea to bring the broader based community into the fold.

I will keep an eye out First World Bard for the PFS Plunder & Peril boon.

Again, it would be unfair to us (organizers) that do this week in and week out but don't gain any stars when a GM from the RPG side could come in and have an advantage.

The incentives are there for both the ACG and RPG scenarios for boons that cross over.

Also, besides the shirts, the playmats are also a source of a die re-roll.

Dark Archive 1/5

I understand your perspective Theryon and I agree that it would be unfair to PACG Organizers who don't play much of The RPG.

The playmats don't provide a die reroll, Theryon.

They provide a single discard and draw at the start of your turn.

Grand Lodge

You are correct.

I was just looking for T-shirts to buy for rerolls and I noticed that my favorite piece of art among the shirts (Beginner Box, with Ezren and Merisiel vs. the Black Dragon (Black Fang?)) has yet to be added to the list.

Is that by design, or omission?

Also, I figured that, until the freeroll page is up and updating, storing the list of reroll accessories on a more appropriate thread than the Pre-gen character sticky post would be ideal. I was gonna create a thread, but here was this one, already created...

From the PreGen thread:

Add the PACG T-Shirt to that list. I've asked Tonya or John to chime in if they know if anything else is missing.

Grand Lodge

It's an official Offworld licensed shirt so it would be included with the rest of the shirts they produce that are Pathfinder based.

There are discussions now about products eligible for rerolls. I'll check to see if it's on the list.

Grand Lodge

Thanks Theryon!

Please correct if this is wrong. Usually we play with the Playmat, too, so it hasn't come up often.

If one Player is wearing his Paizo shirt, can he delegate his re-roll to another Player not wearing a Paizo shirt?

If so, do the Character have to be at the same location?

Grand Lodge

1) Yes, the large playmat offers a re-roll to the group. (One die can be re-rolled by any player in the group per scenario.) [It was missed from the re-roll list but was discussed.]

2) No, if you are not wearing a designated shirt or you do not have one of the designated items listed, you cannot re-roll the die. You can't delegate your shirt re-roll to another player. Can't do it in RPG either. I think GMs are able to do something like that with stars.

3) Since you can't delegate a re-roll, the whole location thing is moot.

Thank you. I allowed someone else to use my re-roll once, but at the time we were using a Playmat and didn't know that the player could use that as a re-roll, so that was variance, but luckily not any illegal action taken for personal gain! :o (Also, the personal gain would affect another player and not myself.)

Grand Lodge

It's not the end of the world. Currently, the character playmats allow for a re-roll and their inherent power (listed on the re-roll webpage which is a discard to draw a card, I think).

The character playmats allow for a re-roll? Really?

I thought their only power was: once per scenario, at the start of your turn you may discard a card to draw a card.

Silver Crusade 4/5 ***

On the PFS rerolls page, it says they do. So unless that changes, I'm embracing it.

Thanks!

I can't believe I never knew this.

Grand Lodge

It's a recent change since the re-roll page was introduced. So if you didn't know ... now you do.

The very first time I played Guild (which seems an eternity ago, but was actually just GenCon 15), the Volunteers were "delegating" their t-shirt re-rolls left and right. It REALLY added to the communal "we're all on the same side and want everyone to succeed" feeling. I agree this is against the rules (another rule to note is, even if you have a shirt AND a messenger bag, for example, you still only get one reroll), I believe it would improve the quality of... not the GAME, per se, but the EVENT... if the rule were changed to allow rerolls to be used for anyone at the table, much like die bumps.

Now that the large playmat allows one group re-roll, the need to delegate a shirt re-roll isn't as justified. Most cons use the large playmat. I know that I always bring two (large) playmats with me.

I can see, at events like Gen Con and PaizoCon, where volunteers are wearing the official volunteer shirts that they can delegate a re-roll. But since it isn't in the rules, it's still a no. (Get them to buy official shirts. I've done that with people I play with. Gets them in the feel of the game as well.)

I will happily agree to disagree. It notably makes my game experience better and emphasizes the cooperative nature of the game to share rerolls. I thoroughly respect your stand, and clearly, the rules back you.

I have never ever found that wearing the t-shirts changes the feel of the game in any way (except when I remember that it grants me a re-roll). My mileage may be varying.
