Savage Tech (Barbarain) needs Rage Powers

Advice

Started a Dwarf Savage Technologist for PFS and having problems figuring out what Rage Powers to go with him.

Brief description of Savage Technologist -
TWF with a one-handed weapon & a gun in melee range. When Raging, Strength and Dex goes up.

Character Build - Dwarf
16 STR, 14 DEX, 16 CON, 10 INT, 14 WIS, 6 CHA

Plan is to fight with Dwarven Waraxe in main hand and Double-Barreled Pistol in Off Hand.

While I do have some idea for Feats, I'm having problems choosing which Rage Powers to grab. I will NOT go with the superstitious rage power line. Any other suggestions welcome.

PS. My original plan was to go 1 level Gunslinger (Gun Tank Archetype - some protection from Crits & SA), 5 levels of Savage Tech (Barbarian Archetype), and 5 levels of fighter.
Then got to talking about just going all levels in Savage Tech and picking up those Rage Powers but not sure which ones to grab with this type of build.

You are going to have a hard time. You need to use a Cestus or Unarmed Strikes on your main hand or be unable to reload your weapon as you need an empty hand (which Cestus or Unarmed Strike provides).

For Rage Powers:

- Reckless Abandon
- Beast Totem line?
- Undead Blood line up to Improved? (Greater is meh)
- Fey Blood line?
- Celestial Blood line?
- Surprise Accuracy line?
- Clear Mind?

I don't really have a contribution for powers, but I am kind of curious as to his backstory.

I mean how did he become a Barbarian as opposed to say a fighter, and what got him involved with firearms and technology?

This is just a rough draft -

His 'clan' worked one of the spots from the "Rain of Stars".
This drew the attention of the Technic League.
The Technic League decided what this Dwarf Clan was 'poaching' their 'property' and due to a surprise attack destroyed the clan's home.
With no home and wanting revenge, started smuggling to the different barbarian tribes in Numeria and working for the PFS.

Rage Powers
Reckless Abandon - Will probably get
Beast Totem line - doesn't work too good when the build is around using a melee weapon and a gun.
Blood Lines - Think those are only for Bloodrager. Will need to check to see if usable with a normal type barbarain.
Clear Mind - Will get but depends on what other Rage powers I pick up.

Beast totem gives AC and pounce, that's awesome for melee people.
Elemental air bloodline rage powers gives flight which is nice.
Knockback could be good, attack them in melee, and then push them away and shoot them.

There's a set of rage powers that imitate bloodlines, right in the ACG. 100% legal.

Pounce works great with Savage Barbarian. Charge in, shoot, Opening Volley triggers, shred.

You didn't tell me how you'd solve the free hand issue.

Was just going go with quick draw feat. Shoot, drop and draw another.

That's an expensive way to go about it.

World serpent spirit totem tine isn't bad - the 6th level power gives you free align weapons, faster speed (at high levels) and isn't restricted to melee weapons. And it's alignment vs. all - not just evil. (UC)

Primal scent is always handy for a character that can't cast spells. (Also UC)

Take two levels of Rondelero Duelist and use buckler slams as your melee weapon?

Regretably as a savage technologist you need to weild your gun in your main hand.

Glove of Storing Might be cheaper, though though expensive at lower level.

costs 10,000, but saves you a feat and a lot of extra guns. Put your war axe in the hand with the glove.

Free action, store axe,
reload,
free action, recall axe.

Alternately, there is the tekko-kagi, that can function either as a bracer or as a weapon, so theoretically leaves your hand free in bracer mode.

That said, one of these days, I want to use quickdraw to make Derringer Meryl from Trigun

Or just use a cestus?

Quick Draw doesn't come with Quick Sheathe.

Kind of frustrated now. Like the idea behind the class but the feat cost is going be kind of crazy.

Melee Feats don't really work with Gun (range) feats.

So I might just drop the idea of using guns (except as a backup-range weapon) and go with a standard barbarian type build.

Dunno man.

I've played a Savage Technologist/Savage Barbarian archetype Barbarian and loved it.

Here's what I built:

1. Gunsmithing / Amateur Gunslinger (quick clear)
2. Reckless Abandon
3. Rapid Reload
4. Superstition
5. Weapon Focus (pistol)
6. Ghost Rager
7. Gunslinger
8. Disruptive
9. Point-Blank Shot
10. Scent
11. Rapid Shot
12. Spellbreaker
13. Opening Volley
14. (My dude died an epic death around here.)

One level of Gunslinger would probably be optimal for nonhumans, as it saves you the two feats.

What I did was mostly stick to targets (particularly casters) and harry them. I would either use my Cestus as my main weapon if they were close, or my gun if they were further away.

I had the ability of making a Cestus attack, and if i killed the dude, start riddling someone further away with bullets.

I think he was enjoyable.

Weapon cords and quick draw work wonders for reloading if you want a cheaper option than weapon storing gloves.

The problem with the class/archetype in PFS is you get no free weapon like a gunslinger and you can't even buy bullets without the gunsmithing feat. It ends up being best to dip into gunslinger to get these.

weapon cord got errataed. It is now significantly less good for reloading. Quick draw does not allow you to quick sheath, so it is still a move action to put your weapon away, again, problematic for reloading if you are trying to get iteratives.

I second the Gunslinger dip. Or Spellscar Drifter Cavalier (order of the Flame, perhaps). Another way to solve the reloading problem is to splash Alchemist 2 for another arm or tentacle. You were working in what was likely a highly irradiated area, after all.

Scarab Sages

Spiked Gauntlet or armor spikes can fill in for the off hand weapon and still leave you free to reload.

Spiked light shield does the trick too.
