We recently lost another player (RL friend has dropped out due to RL issues). We have enough players to have a normal play, however, the one that dropped was the primary (and really only) melee-oriented character.
I am looking for 1 (maybe two) players. First and foremost, we need a melee-focused character. A second, not as important, but would still like to look for one: a divine caster (preferably one focused on healing, if not just brings a bit of healing).
I'll take either one of each, or two people that can fulfill both roles at the same time. We can do without the divine caster (NPC healer with party now), but melee would be greatly appreciated.
Party consists of:
- Archer-themed Fighter
- Deception-based witch
- Support/melee Bard
- fire-based Sorcerer
- NPC healer/fire-oriented 11-yr old half-elf girl (would like to bring to the background more).
- Characters are level 2.
- 20 point buy, No 7's can be purchased (Anything below an 8 must come from racial).
- You can be young, but no young template will be applied.
- Every Ability Score increase by level (4, 8, 12, etc.) you can increase two different ability scores instead of one.
- We will use Racial HP from the beta rules. Which are basically as follows:
If your race has a -2 Con modifer (or greater penalty), add +4HP to your hit points at 1st level.
If your race has no Con mod, add +6 HP to your hit points at 1st level.
If your race has a +2 Con mod (or higher), add +8 HP to your hit points.
- Mostly-Humanoid races only. Certain other things are allowed, but with some tweaking and exceptions. In most cases, if your character is not a Core race, then it is a Human with different traits (depends on the race chosen). This will make sense later.
- Wealth is max for your character at level 1. Again, this will be explained later.
- There are no adventurers in this world. Currently, everything is in a state of peace (which has lasted about 2,000 years). We are using ultimate campaign for somethings (that part is coming up shortly). Make sure your character has a non-adventuring background and make sure it is appropriate for a level 1-2 non-adventurer.
The HP will make up for lower than high adventurer stats, not allowing a true dump stat, and will increase survival ability across the board.
IMPORTANT: I will be basing decisions on two things: 1- Role Fulfillment. 2- Backgrounds.
Backgrounds are very important as that is what I am using to drive the story. There is an interwoven plot-line that ties everything together. I can work with each person on backstories as soon as I get the rough concept of your character's background.
One additional requirement is that the campaign is hosted on private forums. Once accepted, you will need to make a user account there. Links will be provided. I am the admin for the forums so you shouldn't have any issues. The reasons for this are for organization and to allow players to access the game from sources that block Paizo forums.
In the spoiler, you will find something that may help flesh out your background. It was given to us by a former player. Usage is optional.
Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged!
1)
2)
3)
4)
5)
Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.
1)
2)
Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character.
1)
2)
Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.
1)
2)
3)
Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.
1)
2)
3)
Feel free to pm me or ask your questions here.

Can you give any info about the campaign? a hook or something? basicly what i got was that your not an adventurer and its peace time and there is a a story....
Would be good to know a little more so i can come up with a concept that suites the world you are creating.
Also any third party books allowed or just strictly paizo stuff?
thanks!

DM-DR |

Sorry, I am doing strictly Paizo materials. If it is a non-hardback, will need a linked source (d20pfsrd or something similar acceptable).
As for story, well, beyond the peace-times there is really little to be known by the people of the world. There are no monsters and such and everything related to it seems to be just fairy-tales.
Here is some info based on questions from the last recruitment.
Can you give me a short synopsis of the world? I know the gods are based in Mesopotamian origins, but my questions are more things like:
1. Who are the most famous/infamous people in the world and why are they so revered (i.e., what kind of people, both local and national, would my character be exposed to as "idols")?
2. Where would it make the most sense for someone who will be "divinely or otherwise inspired" to grow up? What influences would there be on his childhood (was he surrounded by people of wealth, though he had none? was he surrounded by talented people, and he felt inferior? was he the greatest damn peasant the city had ever seen, and thus elevated to an amazing status before even realizing his call to arms?)?
3. How has technology progressed?
4. What legends and tales are told around the fires of his hometown?
5. What are the greatest fears plaguing the people involved in my character's life?
The current timeline of the world everyone is playing in is very open right now. I did this so that I could focus more on character storylines that people would like to see developed and less about the workings of the world. This is taking place several years before the other two campaigns IRL that I have ran with this world (neither has currently finished as I have no time to meet up for IRL games now). In those two games, things were much less open because they were plot-driven.
Some big things to note, Humans set the peace through the lands and occupy 95% of the entire world's population. There hasn't been a war in over 2000 years (when the humans brought an end to all wars and began ruling with an Iron Fist). This peace has also brought about the end of adventuring. No one goes to seek adventure and glory anymore because there is none to be had (as people think). This might all sound boring, but it was designed for one specific "grand scheme" beyond the character story lines to still give it that epic adventure/campaign plot.
That should answer a large part of your questions, but I'll try to answer a little further on each as well.
1. With the state of the world, there really is no one famous/infamous openly. There are some monarchies and and such, but none are really famous. Currently, the party has a single nemesis by the name of Pritchard. He is the leader of a group known as the "Riders of Mynyddsey". They are a sort of local law enforcement group, but not part of the government. There is also a secret organization that is said to run the government of Mynyddsey and he is rumored to be in charge or at least a part of that group. In society, he is actually well received. For idols and villans, I allowed everyone to sort of make up their own (see the form posted on the recruitment thread).
2. Because gods have virtually no interaction, very few people feel divinely inspired. Most often, the only people that become part of the clergy are those raised in the churches as orphans. Paladins tend to be more of the "hospitaler"/"traveling healers". Some are knights for royal armies, but these armies are all for show as there hasn't been a war in many, many generations. People that feel a "call to arms" normally do so either because they are of nobility and do it for show, or join an army or town guard because they need to make a living.
3. Technology has been very slow to improve. Guns are in the early stages, and nothing like what you would find in Numeria exists. Again, this has to do with the long standing peace. There has been no need for new innovations.
4. Most people have forgotten about monsters and the like because they haven't been seen in over 2000 years. Since no one has been needed (or felt the need) to seek out glory, there are no real heroes of old. The only real tales and legends are about how the humans conquered all the civilized lands and united everyone under different ruling nations.
5. Most people that are not privileged are just trying to make ends meet. There are many corrupt organizations, but everything stays under radar or has bought out their governments. Nothing is openly bad enough that people wish to rebel (in part due to the large armies and police forces). The area the party came from (a town called Dawsbury) was experiencing another large drought which affected their crops (as well as the merchants that traveled through the town to get to Mynyddsey). Dawsbury recently (about a week ago during the adventure) was burned to the ground with no known survivors or found cause of the fires.
I hope that helps. Not handing out general hooks as the hook for your character is going to be specifically based off of your backstory. Basically, this isn't a game of fitting a character to the plot, adventure path, etc. This is a game that is being built around the player characters themselves. You pick a class/story combination that you wish to play (I know this recruitment kinda is forcing the new recruits into certain roles), and the story and plot are both written around the characters.

DM-DR |

Oh, sorry, I forgot to transfer all the information from the previous thread.
HP Is max for the first 3 levels you will have obtained (Plus the racial HP from Beta on first level, see above).
Wealth is max for your class at level 1. You will be getting more equipment soon into your introduction.
I haven't really looked at the unchained material (don't own the book), but I'll look into it. Looks like it is up on d20pfsrd and I'll check with the other players in the group as the fractional saves could hurt as much as help anyone that wishes to multi-class. I'd be okay with the unchained classes for anyone interested there.
A couple of books that have come out since I started this though that I don't think we will use are Mythic Adventures and the Technology guide (and stuff related to either). This is mostly because they don't fit with anything else.

Ok here is my concept i made a few assumptions cause i hadn't heard back but the answers wont really change the overall design just some of the crunch.
Introducing Bric Hammersmith
Bric grew up in a village only a few miles from a large port city. His father was a blacksmith and his mother was a herbalist. Bric idolized his father and spent most of his time in and around the forge, at first playing with tools and weapons and then soon forging them as soon as he was strong enough to swing a hammer.
Bric was happy child and while he was never one to shy away from a fight or a bully he rarely went looking for trouble. As Bric grew into a young man he began to come into his own as a craftsman and he soon took over from his father as the primary blacksmith.
He would mainly make ploughs and horse shoes but occasionally he would be commissioned to make a suite of armor or a weapon for a noble lord in the city.
Not long after Bric's 25th birthday a new family moved into the village and opened up a blacksmith in competition to The Hammersmiths. Bric and his father weren't too woried as they had been in that village for generation and had earnt a good reputation as great blacksmiths and fair merchants.
a year or so went on and nothing the other blacksmith did seem to impact Bric's family to much, from time to time they would loose a contract to them and even on some occasions when they had enough work they would even send the other blacksmiths work.
The other blacksmith, Garun Sparksteel, resented Bric and his father and constantly tried to undercut them and even go as far as trying to sabotage their forge, but he failed each time.
After a particularly tough winter, there wasnt a lot of work going around and many of the villages were starving because of weak crops. This was also the case in the city and so the local lord decided to hold a tourney to try and brighten the moods of the locals.
This brought many nobles and knights from far and wide and a fair bit of work to the local blacksmiths, however there was one job all the blacksmiths from miles around the city were after, The local lord had promised a might hammer as the prize to the victor and he ask several of the local blacksmiths to forge hammers and present them and the finest one would be chosen and the blacksmith that won would become the Lords personal smithy.
Bric father, Davos Hammersmith was a master weapon smith and he worked for several 10 days on crafting a magnificent hammer. Garun Sparksteel knew he couldn't compete with Davos and so one night he snuck into the blacksmiths and sabotage the forge. Garun was hoping to weaken the fire and cool the forge but instead the opposite occurred and a huge fire stated in the smithy's.
The fire spread rapidly and quickly consumed the homestead atached to the smithy, unfortunately several alchemical regents Bric's mother used for her herbal potions were extremely flammable. A giant fire ball engulfed the house and burnt it to the ground, including the people sleeping inside.
Bric was at the local Tavern that night and when he heard the explosion, like everyone else he stumbled outside to see the commotion. He soon realised that it was his house on fire and he rushed to help but the fire was so intense he couldn't even get close.
Bric blamed himself for not being there and spent several days drowning his sorrows. after the 5th day Garun Sparksteel entered the inn, he looked gaunt and withered like he hadn't eaten or sleep in a week. He found Bric in the corner of the inn and he slowly moved towards him.
Garun was standing about 4ft away from Bric and all he said was "It was me" at first Bric in his drunken haze didnt even comprehend what garun was saying he didnt even recognize Garun at first. Then Garun said it again "it was me" Bric looked at him confused as he tried to focus his vision, and Garun continued "I lite the fire, It was me who killed your folk, I can;t handle the guilt any more"
It took a few heart beats for Bric to realize what Garun was saying and then blank.
Bric awoke standing in the middle of the almost empty tavern, distance screams could be heard from out side, warm thick liquid covered his hands and chest. On the ground in several pieces lay the Body of Garun Sparksteel. According to witnesses Bric exploded into an animal like rage first crushing Garun in a bear hug then slowly plling him apart, head, arm, arm then finally in 2.
The local lord took pity on Bric and instead of sentencing him to death he instead sentenced him to 8 years hard labor. Once Bric finished his sentence he returned to the town that was once his home and he returned to his seat in the corner of the inn, were he would spend each night drinking away what ever coin he could earn doing odd jobs of manual labour around the town.
One night an old man joined Bric at his table and dropped a mighty war-hammer on the table in front of him. Bric was in a drunken stupor and the loud thud shocked him awake. "This belongs to you i guess" the old man said "it was the only thing of value that we were able to salavage from the fire" bric stared at the hammer without saying a word.
"I figured you'd come back one day and i thought you should have it, after all your father was a good man and he would want more for you than you drinking yourself to death in the corner of this inn, so take it and remember the good time and pull yourself together"
Bric still drinks each night at that tavern but he doesnt spend every coin he earned, no he is saving up now to eventually to purchase his own blacksmith's and to forge a new life for himself.

Looks good. Perhaps I haven't had enough coffee yet and so I'm missing a few things.
1) I think HP should be 36 (24 (max hp), + 4 (con 2 levels), + 2 Favored Class (I assume), +6 Racial (unless you put your con modifier there, but based on 20 point-buy, it doesn't look like it).
2) I think you only have 4 skill points per level (so 8 ranks available). I am counting 12 ranks based on those bonuses. Unless you had put your Favored class here, which you would then have 10 ranks available and your HP would be 34.
3) I know you mentioned you made the crunch before my response, so I understand the gear/gold being off right now.
I like the story a lot. I think I have some material I can work with there. I think a good hometown for your character based on the story would be "Loriel". Here is a map for reference. The second post I made above has the overview map. You will be on the top left-hand side of the map with the major port city nearby being "Farnfoss".
Let me know what I might have missed if your numbers form your crunch are correct. On very little sleep today, so apologies for errors on my part.

Introducing Marcus Sorel, Cleric of Inanna. I don't have any character crunch right now, just looking to see if the background would fit into your world. I wrote this recently, and it has been awhile since I have done something like it.
As far as Marcus knew, everyone lived the way they did. Religion was a part of their culture and who they were. Marcus just followed the path that he was shown, the path of Inanna. His life was devoted to Inanna and the teachings of love. As a child, Marcus would attend the teachings by the priestess Arian and she would teach the children of the town the ways of Inanna.
Arian would teach Marcus the importance of love within our world. Without it, life was incomplete, shallow. But love had a darker side that many oft overlooked. Love breeds hate in many ways. Arian had tried to teach the students this part of their religion too, but no one seemed to take special notice of these teachings, Marcus included. For them, life was entrenched in the pursuit of love, after all what could go wrong when seeking out the most beautiful part of life?
Marcus befriended the priestess Arian’s daughter early in life. Tadyn and Marcus were often seen together. As the years progressed, Tadyn and Marcus grew closer and their understanding of Inanna’s teachings only grew. The two were inseparable. Arian continued to teach the students as they aged, but for some, the teachings started to fall on deaf ears. Marcus began to feel he had reached the pinnacle of understanding of Inanna’s teachings as his love continued to grow for Tadyn. Marcus wasn’t the only person who felt feelings for Tadyn however.
While Marcus and Tadyn were often noticed together, people generally failed to take notice of the third in their party. Liam and Marcus were practically raised together since their parents were siblings. Before Tadyn had become such an important person in Marcus’ life, Liam and Marcus did everything together. It didn’t bother Liam too much early on always tagging along with the two of them, but eventually he started to feel like his presence was unwanted. Marcus would often insist on Liam taking a different route home so that he and Tadyn could be alone, only furthering the amount of betrayal Liam felt from his friend. He began to despise Tadyn, for not only had she and Marcus fallen in love, she had managed to take his best friend from him.
On Tadyn’s 22nd birthday, Marcus had made the decision to request Tadyn’s hand in marriage. In their city, it had become accustomed to make such proposals in a garden on the edge of town. It was there Marcus would ask for Tadyn to wed him, and they could go on the rest of their lives following Inanna’s teachings. They could finally conclude their teachings of Inanna with the sacred vow of love and marriage, or so Marcus thought. Marcus needed Liam’s help in getting Tadyn to the garden so that he may propose to her properly. He told Liam to find Tadyn and tell her Marcus had a special plan to celebrate her birthday and bring her to the garden. As night fell, Marcus still stood in the garden waiting. It was at that time he finally saw someone approaching, but it was not his bride to be. Liam walked from the shadows, his face distraught. “Tadyn has fallen” Liam said, “on our way here she collapsed and she is deathly ill” Liam continued. Liam managed to leave out the information regarding his role in Tadyn’s condition as he continued to explain the dire situation. Marcus collapsed and tears flowed down his cheeks.
Marcus would arrive next to Tadyn in time to see her before she passed. That day, Marcus began to understand the other side of love. He was angry, bitter, and hated everything to do with Inanna. He followed the teachings, but did so out of obligation more than desire. Love had scarred Marcus as his love was taken from him. The teachings of Inanna continue, and Marcus still attends them and listens to Arian speak, but the emotions that used to be present have all but died within him.

@Xenocide- I can make that work. Oddly enough, there are similarities in this story to that of the relationship between two NPCs (one introduced, one coming soon). Just vague similarities, not the entire thing. A good region for your character (furthest yet) would be Aredale (North-east of the center of the map above). Largest two cities there are Aldordean and Fort Amarin. This is the region that has the strongest ties to Inanna (there is another area, but that is where she is called Ishtar). Aredale is also buffer nation. Though the world is at peace, Illragorn is known to be ruled by a near tyrant, King Mavin Lossemier. He is the fourth generation of his family to rule. They have always agreed to the terms of peace, but trade is rare and tension always remains high as Aredale is basically the Switzerland of this world.
EDIT: Inanna/Ishtar has two separate choices of domain packages (depends on which side you worship)
Inanna: Charm (including subs), Community (w/ subs), Good (friendship or redemption as subs), Healing (+ subs), Protection (w/ subs).
Ishtar: Loses Good, Healing, and Protection. Gains Liberation (w/ subs), Strength (w/ subs), and War (tactics as sub).
I think once Xenocide (Marcus Sorel) has a crunch and Tech (Bric Hammersmith) has the corrections finished we should be all set.
Couple of links you will need:
http://lbkpf.freeforums.net/ Where the forums are hosted. You'll just need to make a username.
Gameplay Threads. We are currently on Act II. I'll use a group PM to get the two of you set-up before bringing you with the others.
Enveloping MistThe entire folder/topic for the Game.
Characters Shortcut to where you will make a thread to post your character. Can be Accessed from the gameplay link above though.
You really only need the first link. The others are just to help you find stuff. I'll send you more info related to how your characters are getting involved once you are ready assuming everything sounds okay thus far.

Thanks glad to hear you like the story.
As for my Hp you were almost right;
2x d12 hp = 24 + 2 favoured class + 4 from Con and then +8 from Beta hp as per your OP as i hvae +2 to con not +0
I can adjust the gold and equipment, but how would you feel about me keeping the Mwk Hammer as its part of my story?
Also i was using the background skills from unchained, but i am happy to not use them.
Cheers

JuanAdriel |

Here a current player, archer fighter Anton.
What our GM means with the +2 bonuns is a racial bonus to Con, not your con giving +2. So you get +4hp as you don't have a racial bonus (like dwarves have), but neither a penalty (like elves have).
As a side note, your character have an interesting story, and is 'oposite' to the lost player in the sense that he was a defensive melee (heavy armor plus shield) and you are really offensive.

DM-DR |

@Tech- Oh, I hadn't seen the background skill stuff yet. That's interesting. When I get a chance, I'll read into it. Maybe everyone will get a skill bump from it if that's the case (I like having opportunities for characters to use skills they normally don't see often, partly the reason for this type of game). And like Anton said, it is based off of your race's modifier to the Con attribute, not your Con modifier. I just explained it poorly I think.
@Deussu- I have taken the two players already, but you can submit a character if you would like (I guess all roles are filled now). If I like your story/concept, I can probably squeeze in one more (my RL table runs 4-12 people... Well, used to, but I had to stop attending myself).
