Kickstarter is temporarily down thanks to Sony's Shenmue 3 thing, so I'll have to comment on update 2 here: that is a great illustration, but can you please for the love of (insert pantheon here) consider changing the name? "Chobits" are personal computers that are also sexbots. My players will be laughing way too hard to take them seriously. :D

Hayato Ken wrote:Who or what is Clamp? Why not get some illustrations from Clamp instead of renaming them?
A Pathfinder product with Clamp illustrations would be a secured buy for me probably^^ Besides the promising story and action!
They're a manga artist group, and the ones who wrote and illustrated Chobits, which is probably why Hayato Ken mentioned them.

You are amazing! Just our second day and thanks to Andrew Patterson (also backer #150!) we have cracked $20,000 and already unlocked the fourth adventure in the series, Matt Goodall's Dead Vault Descent! We are now looking at 300 pages of mind-blowing adventure content and bonus material and counting! Time to get rocking on the bonus material for that adventure, and start the countdown to Richard Pett's asteroid adventure, Confederates of the Shattered Zone!

OK, I am just coming back to this thread after officially becoming a Planetary Hero backer ($140) There is no question of quality here, I have the Gothic compendium and pledged for the trifecta of books for the Mythic series. I will repeat some of what I suggested on Facebook and the Kickstarter pages.
I strongly suggest you get in contact with the folks at Zombie Sky Press at some point since they have a print book out now that will work well with this idea in It Came From The Stars! And recently I came up with a new idea for a race in slightly reskinning gnolls to remake lupin, a race of canine humanoids originally from the world of Mystara, playing one in SpellJammer was a mind blowing experience. This proposed AP is giving ideas...
On a side note, will the idea of the Dark Tapestry play any factor in this? I am kind of hoping so as they were used to great effect in Iron Gods.

Finally at a keyboard instead of my phone.
First, even though I do not ever purchase adventures or AP's, I would STRONGLY recommend this kickstarter to anyone.
This recommendation is based on the amazing Mythic Kickstarter already completed by Legendary Games. The content in the Mythic Hero's Handbook, Mythic Monster Manual, and Mythic Spell Compendium has drastically improved my current mythic game.
I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of print copies, which are going to be the jewels of my Pathfinder collection and am thoroughly enjoying the PDF's for now. Just to be clear Legendary games has been on-time or ahead on fulfillment and has been extremely communicative, especially being nice enough to show some spoilers as prints and cover proofs came in.
The content is on the level of what I have come to expect from Dreamscarred Press, which I use as the benchmark for well written, balanced and evocative material.
I just cannot praise it enough, and it has set in my mind a high bar for this Kickstarter.
In short, Pledge! You will not be disappointed.

I was curious, is Earth part of the Legendary Planet campaign setting? I know we can easily add it to it as GMs but I was curious if you guys added it in any official capacity.
I know it's always a challenge trying to implement the "real world" into a fantasy setting, but since D&D did it quite a few times back in the day and Pathfinder did it recently I think it can definitely be done without "jumping the shark", as it were.

If I understand things, since LP will use a Stargate transportation medium, there's nothing stopping Earth being a part of the universe, but I sincerely doubt that it will be included (or even mentioned) until or unless Legendary Worlds becomes a thing.
If I understand what Jason and Neil are hoping for (and boy would I love it), the ultimate goal is to be able (eventually) to support an effective campaign setting owned by Legendary Games, so the possibilities for planets are only limited by your imagination, but with a line of official support material. I do agree that a Terra Handbook, or something, would be an awesome thing to have (sooner rather than later), not least because it offers a baseline that we are all familiar with (to a greater or lesser degree). The tricky part is when on Earth. The official Golarion timeline has the current Earth year in the early 20th century (see Rasputin Must Die), but modern-day Earth is also a compelling time period. The downside is that Earth doesn't really have much to sell itself in a sword-and-planet setting so such a product would need careful handling to fit in.

Y'know, given the way that To Worlds Unknown starts, I don't think having characters from Earth would be too hard, especially if...
Going to Earth for adventures is another issue entirely, of course. XD But I could see them creating some reason why Humans shouldn't be 'contacted', and perhaps the characters would be asked to hide their abilities rather than overtly display them...

On a side note, will the idea of the Dark Tapestry play any factor in this? I am kind of hoping so as they were used to great effect in Iron Gods.
You may be aware, Kodyax, that was responsible not only for a direct Iron Gods dose of the Dark Tapestry, I also wrote the support article on the Dominion of the Black in Pathfinder #88 and had notable DT elements in both the Dragon's Demand and Pyramid of the Sky Pharaoh. So, I loves me some DarkTap. Since DT is Paizo intellectual property, however, there won't be any development of that aspect per se in the LG AP (though a DT mystery oracle or the like is certainly a possibility). That said, nothing would stop you from porting DT into your own use of the Legendary Worlds Campaign Setting. It's built specifically to accommodate "crossing the streams," so to speak.

I'd think the biggest problem of incorporating Earth is, to put it bluntly, religion. Deities regularly interact with their servants in most fantasy settings, mostly by channeling their power through their clerics. Having Earth around now means you need to ask a rather touchy question: which Earth-based religions are "correct"? How would Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and other modern-day religions interact with the religions of Norse or Greek legend, for example?
I'd probably just put it as they're all "correct", in a manner of speaking, but Earth is a world where magic is almost completely gone, so the Earth-based gods simply can't (or won't) channel their power through their worshipers there except under the most exceptional circumstances. And I'd probably set the timeline somewhere in the early 20th century. Either that, or have it be a post-apocalyptic Earth where magic returned to the world---explosively >:)
This is all better for a different thread, I think. Still, I think I'm gonna try incorporating Earth in some form in my Legendary Planet game, even if the PCs never directly go there.

As somesone who constantly had to and still has to adjust the regular Paizo adventure paths to still be able to challenge the players once they've crossed the level 10 mark (we all know how crazy pathfinder characters explode in higher levels with regards to damage per round etc.) I wanted to inquire on the expected difficulty level of this AP.
If you ask me and all the people I play with: go crazy. No wait, go a!##*@%, batcrap crazy. Crank up the difficulty to 11. Or at least make it challenging. :)

With the authors we have on board, I think it is safe to say this AP will not be set on "easy mode."

Could we have a two tiered difficulty system in place for those of us looking for a more fun and rule of cool style campaign as opposed to a death march?

We'll walk the narrow path between the two extremes. And, when we get to higher level play (which admittedly not everyone reaches), we may ratchet it up a bit more.
But, in all honesty, when folks request "Super challenging!" versus "No TPKs!" I tend to tune that out, because, more often than not, that's more of a reflection of your GM (i.e., what she or he allows, and how they run the game at the table) as well as your experience level (and how optimized you tend to be in making characters) than how a particular scenario is written by its author. So, in my opinion, it's really the responsibility of anyone who runs an Adventure Path to preview it, compare its design to the known playstyle and experience level of you and your individual players, and then tailor it accordingly.
We simply can't map to everyone's preference, because we'll leave behind half our consumer base. So, to satisfy "most of the people, most of the time" it's best that we shoot for something in between. That way, any of the outliers on that scale have less customizations to make to bring it more in line with their preferred game. That's always been my philosophy in how I write for Paizo APs. And, as lead developer, that's what I'm shooting for on the Legendary Planet AP.

Thanks to the wonderful Will, our project has now collected its 200th backer (and has just kept on going), which means it is time for us to reveal the secret bonus extra for reaching this level:
PDF ART AND MAP FOLIO! All PDF backers will receive a bonus PDF with each adventure featuring each art piece on its own page for easy reference and use for showing to players (either on screen or printed out) without giving away anything from the adventure. Speaking of the adventure, each PDF folio will also include the fully keyed GM maps and unkeyed player maps for each adventure, each on its own page for ease of printing. These map images are being created in cooperation with Bevan Anderson from 3D Virtual Tabletop to ensure they are optimized for importing into VTT programs!
We are also just about $500 away from unlocking Richard Pett's Confederates of the Shattered Zone, which will bring the total pages of LEGENDARY PLANET to 400, with many more yet to come!
Due to backer requests, we have also announced add-on bonus pledges for our Legendary Planeteers and Planetary Heroes backers and above, allowing them to add softcovers of The Assimilation Strain and To Worlds Unknown to their order (the Soft Landing) or to add an additional hardcover to their pledge to share with a friend (the Mysterious Monolith)!
Keep your eyes peeled for our future bonus goals, including blasting through to add the core adventures of the series and their bonus material, but also for more backer goals to honor all the great support we have received. Speaking of support, not everything in the Legendary Planet-universe is trying to kill you! Some of them can be downright helpful, and this lovely lass can help the heroes find their way into a brave new world!

We're all psyched! And we've now hit the halfway point on funding the entire AP just 6 days into the Kickstarter. To say we're extremely happy--not just with this development, but also the contributions of so many friends and colleagues in the industry--would be a colossal understatement. We still have 36 days to kick this thing into an even higher orbit, so please help us bring Legendary Planet to life by continuing to spread the word. There are more bonus goals to unlock, even at the backer pledge levels, so the more people who jump on this rocketship, the better.

If Galactica: 1980 leaves no other legacy, it should be that of the pitfalls of trying to fit Mundane Earth into any Heroic RPG game setting.

I just realized we never answered Neongelion's question in any official capacity. Right now, I don't know that we can. We definitely haven't included Earth as part of the Legendary Planet Adventure Path. But, for the larger Legendary Worlds Campaign Setting (which wouldn't manifest until we test the waters with the AP), it's certainly possible. That said, I think there might be a way for us to suggest how to handle a PC from Earth in a Player's Guide. The easiest way would be to define it in similar terms to Flash Gordon, Starlord, or just a simple alien abduction into a larger multiverse. In other words, we've got options, and we can certainly explore them.
So, the short answer is...::shakes magic 8-ball::..."Reply hazy. Ask again later."
