I'm glad to see continued enthusiasm for the LP AP. I just put one of our freelancers to work on defining four new playable PC "races" (which are really aliens). They'll also represent our 4 iconics for the art appearing throughout the AP. And I'm gearing up another article to define the deities and god-like powers of our multiverse campaign setting. There should be more revealed about that during the Kickstarter itself.
Any chance for some new pieces of information, a teeny tiny sneek peek maybe? Pretty please? :)
PaizoCon attendees (59 of them, in fact) got a giant sneak peek when we ran 2 tables of our prequel adventure (The Assimilation Strain by Tom Phillips and yours truly), as well as 8 tables of Part 1 of Chapter 1 in the actual AP (To Worlds Unknown by Jim Groves). Both of these adventures are in their development cycle. We expect to have them ready by GenCon. Feedback from those who played them was very positive.

If you do go with a single hardcover, how will you handle "cover art" for the PDF releases? Not much art? "Proper" covers that become full-page no-text pieces within the final book?
I've got Tim Kings-Lynne working on the first three action scenes that will be used as cover illos. In fact, I'll be previewing an early sketch I just got from Tim probably today or tomorrow.
The LG style, aside from our hardback books, has always been to have a framed/laid-out cover design that has art as part of the design, rather than a full-page cover splash, and we will be doing the same here. We are working on several cover treatments for Legendary Planet, and hopefully we'll have the final version ready at Kickstarter launch.

Sadly I wasn't at PaizoCon... are any of those attendees present and willing to share a word or two (if that's allowed)? Or did someone cover this experience in a blog or something? Really starving for some tidbits of information here :)

Well seeing as I didn't sign an NDA... I played To Worlds Unknown at the Con.
I really liked the first encounter because it's so far removed from a typical encounter (you have no gear). It really sets the tone that things are going to different as you explore and learn about your surroundings.
If I understand the Legendary Games universe (I probably don't) it has a bunch of interconnected worlds. So, I imagine that the PCs will be exploring worlds unknown... Part 1 Chapter 1 has you just entering this world (I believe that's how it's going to go anyways).

Thanks for sharing your experience at the con and glad you enjoyed it!

Hey, lookee there, I've got almost a full extra check this month. I'll just put that aside in savings and....hmm. This looks kinda interesting but I'm just gonna save my cash and...and.
Did that Spicer guy mention Thundarr? No. No I can't. I should just save the...../sigh.
Damn you. Damn you all. Take my money. FAH!

I believe they mentioned June 15th as the intended start of the Kickstarter (on the front page) - subject to change at their discretion, of course. Once that's up, expect a month of actual fundraising, and then apparently the first two parts (the prologue and the first main volume) will be delivered right after the campaign ends.
So... ~1.5 months looks like the most probable timeline.

The countdown to LEGENDARY PLANET begins!
The beginning of an idea seems so simple. Just a few pencil strokes, a few notes, a notion, a plot, a possibility, an impossible adventure that takes you out of this world. The countdown to LEGENDARY PLANET has begun.
This adventure idea has been rattling around the marvelous mind of Neil Spicer for many years, and it's a project we've been slowly concepting and building behind the scenes for almost two years. We believe in careful building at Legendary Games, to make sure that you get the most amazing products we know how to make, and this project is going to redefine Legendary. Over the next few days we'll be telling you more about the project, which if it goes all the way will be stretching well over 700 pages, but size is less important than how you use it. We are very excited about the people involved in this project, and we are looking forward to opening this project with a bang. We are looking forward to unveiling this project to everyone, but for now we encourage you to spread the word about Legendary Planet and to get ready for the ride of your lives.
Oh, and one more thing: FIVE

The Legendary Planet project is an adventure path taking you into a brand-new universe, but one that is familiar in many ways. The character classes you know exist. The races you know exist. The monsters and spells and items you know all exist. But they are now just one part of a much larger universe. The fantasy worlds we know and love are spinning around their stars in the heavens, but they are not alone. There are things in the universe far older and far stranger than what we know, races and beings both malevolent and benign. The elder races from beyond have touched the universe, guided and shaped its creation and evolution. To some these elder races are entirely forgotten, to others just a legend, but to others they are gods, lighting the path to enlightenment… or conquest.
Your heroes will venture first To Worlds Unknown, to the dusty alleys of Zel-Argose, a wretched hive of scum and villainy but also a gateway hub to all manner of possibilities, whether it be a way back home or a way forward into a much larger universe where secrets lie on distant worlds, from postapocalyptic deserts to the deep caverns of a tidally locked planet, from water worlds to asteroid mines and more. Along the way you’ll meet klaven, elali, krang, ultar, onaryx, hetzuud, queborrin, loran, zoress, yorynn, divymm, barrgra, jagladine, tauslek, and more. Some will be friend, some will be foe, but whom to trust? Probably not the bil’djooli. People with tentacles cannot be trusted. It is known.
One more thing: FOUR

It really is hard to wait, but I don't want to open a recruitment thread until the Kickstarter page is up. XD Still, I'm definitely excited to see the full release!
I know I'm planning on submitting a character in your game. It will give me a chance to play it in spite of being stuck as the GM in my face-to-face group (and not particularly wanting to use an AP when I run):D
Of course given the slow pace of pbp, it would also mean it would be a long time before I can safely read the whole thing without spoilers. To those in the know: is there going to be a free player's guide the way Paizo does with their adventure paths?

The countdown continues to the LEGENDARY PLANET Kickstarter. See a few more insights into what sets this adventure path apart!
Haha, in the second picture, that's definitely Han Solo!

If the squid beings in that picture are the bil'djooli, then the bil'djooli are awesome. Big ups to the artist. Also: Won't be happy until they are a playable race.

Now, now, that is merely an informational statement about pop culture in general, not some indication that the character depicted is meant to resemble said character (that actually was entirely a coincidence).
But let's just say you probably don't survive to 20th level without having to shoot first a few times. :)

Will there be Hero Lab support?
Yes, in terms of stat blocks for monsters and characters.
Whether there is Hero Lab support beyond that will depend on how LoneWolf chooses to proceed with supporting adventures in general and 3PP adventures in particular.
Which discussion forum are we going to use? Most six-chapter adventure paths need an entire board to themselves. If we don't get a dedicated board on paizo.com have you considered asking for one on another site?
We can ask, though generally that's something Paizo only does for their own APs. I haven't seen them do that for 3PP series like Way of the Wicked, Zeitgeist, etc.
Presumably we'd host the Pathfinder discussion here at Paizo.com, and we could certainly host the 5th Ed discussion here as well. We could also use another board like rpg.net or ENworld, though I'm not a big fan of their interface.

Shisumo wrote:FYI, Jason, you might want to update your previous countdown blogs with the Legendary Planet tag.Tagged! I sometimes forget to tag stuff as I post it. Thanks for catching that.
No problem. I wanted to use the tags to steer a couple friends to some of the info that's already out there and was like, "Hunh. That's not going to work as well as I'd wanted."
