Ah but it can.
Whimsy - playfully quaint or fanciful behavior or humor.
So the point is, once you start when does it stop? Who gets to police that?

I don’t consider chainmail bikinis whimsical.
Also I don’t see what it has to do with giving slingshots to Gnomes.

It comes down to what the person doing the writing/artwork/game development considers appropriate. That is the relation.
James Jacobs considers both to be silly things that don't belong in Pathfinder.

In effect. James Jacobs considers slingshots silly, and thus they are not part of Golarion (or Pathfinder).
In reality, slingshots are dangerous weapons. In a Fantasy setting there is no reason that they wouldn't be used by a race such as Gnomes.

That was my thought process too.
That said, slingshots and bikini armors are the complete opposites that have nothing to do with each other.

Except if one classifies both as silly, as James Jacobs apparently has done.

They're both classified as phyiscal objects as well, which means nada.
People think slingshots are silly because they're associated with kids when in fact they are deadly, bikini armor is silly because it is, it doesn't work, would not provide armor, and would get the wearer killed. So the opposite.

Greeting Glorious and Stern Mistress Rysky...
How are you doing?
In my thread you mentioned web fiction leading up to 2nd ed....has Chris Jackson written one yet?
A note on Chainmail Bikini: It is silly to expect protection from them...but there have been groups of warriors who have fought naked before...one of them made the Romans retreat and build a wall...so a high DeX based fighter who want to wear that...or a chain loincloth I have no issue with...it when they expect to get a arnor bonus for it that I have issues and it becomes silly...
Jacob has very strong opinions on what is silly...so much so he is starting to turn me off...

Greetings lovely pet ^w^
Okay i suppose, did you have a good vacation?
Yes he has!
Same. Leaving it as cheesecake clothing is still eh to me but still being clothing it’s not much of an issue.
I’m sorry to hear that, he’s always been rather serious about a lot of things.

James Jacobs - as Creative Director - is forced to decide what is and is not appropriate for the Pathfinder game as a whole.
The thing is, every table is different. And, Mr. Jacobs recognizes that.
For example, I do allow Chainmail Bikinis to give the same protection as the armor they are based on - b.t.w., half my playing group is female. Why yes, I do reduce the weight and Armor Check Penalty. Oviously, at Rysky's table that would not fly.
That is a "house rule." Slingshots can also be a house rule.

Got my 2E books today, and my god, it's full of stars...
Changelings join the parade of "they can have guys, too," vampires no longer have that weird wargamy energy drain via "slams," the layout of the core book allows for quick and dirty character generation... after a long life as a curmudgeonly grognard, it's sort of weird to be legit convinced that the new edition is simply better. Might not have as many modular options yet, but it's so, so lovely...
So, the question:
What do you hope for in 2nd edition?

Lord Fyre RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32 |

(Actually, this question is for Rysky the Dark Solarion)
Have you found the lack of Player's Guides to be a problem in Starfinder? It's been some time, your answer might have changed.

Yes, that was a major turn off for the Starfinder APs, the inclusion of which could have helped with some otherwise rough transition to Starfinder from Pathfinder.
It need not even have been very long (two pages might have been enough) as a downloadable PDF enhancement to the AP, much like what was put into the intro of Against the Aeon Throne.
- * - A brief "pitch" introducing the AP to the players.
- * - Some guidance on character creation, as well as caveats to avoid. (Such as reminding the players that Eox is a Pact World member in good standing being one infamous example.)
- * - some notes on what where the heroes start the adventure (or at least where they think they start the adventure). For example, In Against the Aeon Throne the heroes start as the crew of a tramp freighter delivering supplies to Nakondis, a world in the Vast. Players might find that information useful for forming character concepts and party relationships.
- * - Relating the Core Rulebook's themes (as well as the bonus theme, if any) to the story of the AP.
So far some of the APs have also included a new theme, usually in the back of Book 1. This would have been better placed in a Player's Guide to make it more known to the player group.

Those are all good but this is the main one for me.
Instead of saying all options (and Deities) are valid but have Undead not be inherently Evil but then also not updating Pharasma, Iomedae, and Sarenrae from Pathfinder...

In a manner of speaking.
Technically, Rysky prefers pugwampi flavored caramel. All that is required to make this is a cauldron, gullible pugwampis, brown sugar, and a heat source. The pugwampis usually survive, but end up with mass amounts of sticky caramel in their fur. The caramel is thus suitably "flavored."
As an aside, why do you want pugwampi flavored caramel? I never actually asked.
