Slayer Talent Question

Rules Questions

At 4th level, can a Slayer choose Ranger Fighting Style and choose another Archery talent? Based on how the text reads, it seems the Slayer may not be able to select this particular talent again until 6th level.

Ranger Combat Style (Ex): The slayer selects a ranger combat style (such as archery or two-weapon combat) and gains a combat feat from the first feat list of that style. He can choose feats from his selected combat style, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites. At 6th level, he may select this talent again and add the 6th-level ranger combat feats from his chosen style to the list. At 10th level, he may select this talent again and add the 10th-level ranger combat feats from his chosen style to the list.

I chose this at 2nd level and selected Precise Shot. I was hoping to select this again at 4th level and select another one available at 2nd level. My idea was to spend feats on melee, and talents on ranged combat.

Sovereign Court

You can't select until 6th level, then level 10 again. Big reminder that ranger combat feats have no requirements, so just use it. Like getting rapid shot at level 2 for example.

You can also get rogue talent combat trick to get a combat feat but you need to have the required feats for those.

So, I can select Precise Shot at level two, but I cannot follow up with Rapid Shot at level 4?

Sovereign Court

do you have point blank shot? if yes, you can take it as a rogue combat trick. If not, you will have to wait until level 6 to get the next ranger combat style feat.

Think of it like this, it works exactly like it does for a Ranger (assuming you select it each time as soon as it is available) except you can't take it again after level 10.

Or as a normal feat that you get at odd levels. Like lv3.

OK, are there any Archery related Slayer talent options available at level 4? Perhaps there is something in one of the many books to select from?

Well, deadly range if you are going for ranged sneak attacks, weapon focus or a general combat feat for a rogue talent. A couple other rogue tlents deal with suprise and stealth with ranged weapons, but I'm not very familiar with them.

After some research, I think I came up with a forecast of my Slayer Talents.

Level 2: Precise Shot
Level 4: Combat Trick (Point Blank Shot)
Level 6: ManyShot
Level 8: Either Weapon Training-Longbow OR Combat Trick (Rapid Shot)
Level 10: Two Weapon Rend

My question is whether or not I can select Combat Trick a 2nd time for the Rogue talent. It says "This talent can be selected multiple times; each time, it grants the slayer a new rogue talent." It could be up for debate on whether or not new means a different one from before, or you can double up on the same one (Combat Trick) but technically its new because its taken at a different time.

For example: I buy a Core Rulebook today, and tomorrow I buy another Core Rulebook. Same book, but the 2nd one is technically "new". I may be splitting hairs but I was curious if this has been discussed before and there is a PFS legal answer. I would prefer to take Rapid Shot over Weapon Focus.

Yes, you are splitting hair. Combat trick talent is a combat trick talent. You can get it only once. Otherwise the rule saying that you can take a talent only once unless it explicitly allows you to take it would be meaningless.

Unfortunately you're locked into one style, just like a Ranger is.

If you multi-class a level or two in Rogue(Swashbuckler) you can take it a second time.
