Two Fifth Level Characters Desperately Needed!

Recruitment

Hello,

This game
Its “A” Dungeon

Needs two new players!

It is a randomly generated adventure, a dungeon crawl, derived from the Appendix of the 1977 Dungeon Master’s Guide.

Currently we have a “Shadowy” Elven Wizard
A Human Ranger
And
A Dwarven Cleric

All of these characters are 5th level, and I would like to replace two players who are leaving the game (the Rogue and the Monk)

We need a new Rogue and a Fighter (only). The details on basic character creation can be found in the recruitment thread of the game linked above, but are restated here for convenience

Races are limited to

Dwarf
Half-Elf
Halfling
Human
Elf
Gnome
Half-orc

Characters will be generated using a 24 point buy system, no stat to be less than 12 after application of Racial Modifiers.

Starting Gold will be 10,500 gold pieces (for a fifth level character)

You will have maximum HP to level 3, then roll for level 4 and 5, and always reroll any roll of a “1”

You will be allowed One Trait

All Core rules will be used (that is all material accessible through the PRD here at Paizo, d20psfrd material is not allowed).

The posting rate is a bit slow, usually no more than one post per day, and sometimes a bit slower, but we keep it going, and we have a real, “breaking the fourth wall” attitude toward the game much like the Order of the Stick Comic.

Also, there is a second game, where a group of Monster Player Characters are exploring the same dungeon, and actively (well, sort of actively) hunting this group of heroes

Is anyone at all interested in Joining us?

I would be interested in rolling a rogue for this. Attracted to the more dungeon crawl aspect. Seems like there would be more action. Leaning toward a half orc or elf. I should be able to get something up today or tomorrow.

Well, you would think there would be more action, but the randomness of the rolls doesn't always give us what we want. Not that I am turning you away, NO, please join us if you think the game sounds like fun.

Most of the real high points of this game have been the interactions between the players who have a sort of helpful criticism of each other down to a science

Participation in the discussion thread, and understanding how the random tables work is a must

Shadow Lodge

I'm thinking of a half-elf or human two-handed fighter, but I need to leave and will be back in eight hours or so. What else do you need from applicants (backstory, any fluff, etc.)?

Here's my level 3 Mutation Warrior fighter. He's a former lab assistant out for vengeance for his slain teacher, who drinks dangerous concoctions of his own dubious design in order to go berserk and smash things with his weapons. If he interests you I'd be happy to adjust his stats and such to level 5.

Back Stories are not required.

I'm sort of looking for basic characters at this point, a standard Rogue and a standard Fighter. We have a challenge cut out for us, just keeping our heads together creating the dungeon, complex character builds tend to make it harder to run the encounters than it needs to be.

Everyone has the same reason for being in the Dungeon, as it is right in the middle of the city. No one is really sure why it exists, but it has become a place where heroes can become famous (for surviving) and rich (there seems to be a limitless supply of treasure coming out of the dungeon, of course the city's merchants shops, hotels, and travel destinations are all owned by It Dupree, so there is no real mystery how the treasure gets back into the dungeon after all).

Here is my submission. Not quite done yet.

well, you need to look at those ability score requirements again, but I like the name.

Oh, sorry, I did that in about a minute and didn't think, and I'm also going to think of an actual name.

Okay, 'sides equipment (which I need to do later), he's done. Sorry about the misconception earlier.

GM was my rogue not to your liking in the other thread???

I am so sorry Rorek55!

I completely spaced out that I had created that thread (things went from bad to worse in the game right around that time with Jim dropping out shortly after Teirist announced his departure)

The character is splendid, really fine, and can be raised to fith level if you are still interested, I would like to see an alias if you are.

Any questions about how the game works?

Silver Crusade

Just curios but if someone wanted to play a barb rather than a fighter would that be a no?

If we already had a fighter, then yes, but I sort of want the basic four classes represented before we branch out, that was how we ended up with a Monk and a Ranger, when the first fighter left.

Silver Crusade

thinking of making a fighter instead... hmmm.

Well, okay, I like to see players do what they would like to do, within the requirements set forth, but you know, Keltos up there is also making a fighter. You are both more than welcome to join if you think it will be fun, and I'll keep searching for a rogue

Take the highest two rolls, you get max HP to third level

Well, we might have two fighters willing to join the game

Can I get a Rogue?

Grand Lodge

here is a rogue for your approval which I would like to add, still working on equipment and particulars.

Looks great, but you do understand that this is not really a good place for PS character (sure it'll be just fine, I'm only saying Society characters are better used in Society games, but hey I'll take anyone I can get.

Any questions about how the game works?

Grand Lodge

I was just using it as a way to post as I am in another play by post as well and that is set as my main. I am hoping you will let me craft alchemy to reduce cost for acid flasks as I am going to be using those within 30 feet to deliver my sneak attacks, as well as adding some oil and alchemist fires to my equipment list.

Well, sure you can have craft alchemy, but so far the existing players have had very little down time to craft anything.

Also, a preliminary search is revealing that Splash Weapons do not benefit from Precision damage bonuses, so you cannot get "sneak attack" benefits with them.

Grand Lodge

Well that seems off, i will redo the character then

No worries, just let me know if you are sure you want to commit. I suppose with Spring Break on the horizon, there will be a lull in activity around here, but I still need to get at least two new characters into this game.

As Bud stumbles into the room an overpowering stench of ale proceeds him, punches you in the nose, and leaves you feeling like you've already had enough to drink.

"Hey do you mind if I join you?"

He then looks around the room and sees all the shiny good holy symbols and spiffy do gooder armor.

"On second thought, I think I'm in the wrong room."

I couldn't resist popping in here and giving Terquem props. I'm in two of his games and both are fun and definitely don't take themselves too seriously. I enjoy both immensely. Hope you find your rogue so we can turn them all into custard when we catch up to you do gooders. Until then.

Level 3: 1d10 ⇒ 8
Level 4: 1d10 ⇒ 5
Phew, better than I expected.

Looking at Karuum makes me remember I want a drawback. I like them, they're good for builds and RP (very Order of the Stick-y as well).

EDIT: Okay, I'd like to take Power-Hungry as my drawback. This is my big chance to continue where Jayne Cobb tragically had to leave off.

Excellent Keltos, I'll send you a pm with some instructions on how we'll get you in the game

Here I am!

Grand Lodge

I am still committing, was just looking for a new way to do a rogue and thought touch attacks would be neat.

Grand Lodge

ok new version of rogue in, still working on equipment and background if you would like

Silver Crusade

touch attacks, that has been done using the rogue talent for major magic+ some other obscure feats to be able to get a bontiful amount of touch attacks chill touch/vampiric touch/shocking grasp

Okay looks like we have three new characters ready to join the dungeon. (also, Edlesmirge - are you sure you want to use a Society Profile for this? You can always create the identical alias in a non society profile)

Saturday is a busy day for me, but I do intend to send each of you a PM to help you join the game

We have

Karuum Chaney - Half-Orc Fighter
Keltos Rankenstar - Human fighter
Niversal - Elf rogue

Now the last thing I'll mention is about a skill change that is a house rule for this game, it deals with Perception (which switches to an Intelligence based Skill) and a new skill (which replaces Sense Motive) that is called Intuition (a wisdom based skill*)

*and for the record I've been doing this for a long long time, way before D&D5e introduced Perception as a Wisdom Skill and Investigation as an Intelligence Skill

Here is my Sorceror Zaehyra For consideration. Need to spend another 4000g but Ill do that if she's selected. She is a false priest, so that helps with the missing divine caster a bit.

Looks good ToxicDragon, but let me clarify, we are not missing a priest, we have Ballar, a dwarven priest, and one of the die hard players still holding on to this game

A Sorcerer would be a great addition. The Party is about to wipe out some Skeletal Champions, and then I think they are headed up out of the Dungeon to get some new spells and equipment for Ballar and Keryth (they will be staying at the Shady Dragon Inn) so stay with me for a bit and we will introduce you to the rest of the team

Oh sweetness, that was a quick process. Thank you, looking forward to joining the party.

Would my lvl 5 necromancer be good?

Hey William, sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I think we filled up, but if someone drops out I'll be trying to reach you, okay?

Dark Archive

Yes
