All those fancy alchemical items, yeah... not so legal anymore. Core gives up TONS of amazing consumables, which is part of the fun imo.
I was flipping through the Core book and I came across the Feather Token, the Fan variant in particular. That is now on my "must have" list to counter fogs and clouds, as well as other creative uses.

That said, what would you consider the new Core-only "must have" items? Additionally, what would you bring into a Core Bonekeep run? The answers to these two questions will probably be the same.

Fan (200 pg): A token that forms a huge flapping fan, causing a breeze of sufficient strength to propel one ship (about 25 mph). This wind is not cumulative with existing wind speed. The token can, however, be used to lessen existing winds, creating an area of relative calm or lighter winds (but wave size in a storm is not affected). The fan can be used for up to 8 hours. It does not function on land.
The "not function on land" part of the item description makes me thing it has rather limited opportunity for usefulness in PFS play.

Hmmm, I seemed to have overlooked that part. Kind of makes it a garbage item. Well, that's sad. Incredibly situational use seems to be a theme of a lot of the Core consumables.

Potion of Gust of Wind would do it in 4 rounds. A little more expensive, but ultimately the desired effect with bonuses.
Must Have:
Alchemist Fire x3
Potion of CLW (for the healer or UMDer)
Chronicle Sheet from The Pallid Plague (Anti-plague option)
A range weapon of any kind
A melee weapon of every kind (B,S,P) (Mithral, Cold Iron, Adamantine)
Handy Haversack (to hold all the junk)
Wand of CLW (held by the healer/UMDer if not you)
Scrolls or potions as appropriate for things your character likes to do occasionally, wonderous items for things your character likes to do all the time.
Planning Ahead is probably the most important thing a character should always have.

Here's the Northwest PFS region's Core Campaign resource folder.
Essential Gear: I collected lists of "favorite" or "must have" gear from the message boards and checked whether or not they were core. If not, I tried to see if there's some kind of substitute or workaround for it.
PFS Core Legal Items: This is just a list of the items of Archives of Nethys that are both Core Rulebook and PFS Legal. (You can get a similar list by going to the source filter on AoN and selecting the Core Rulebook. I just wanted to have an offline copy, pre-filtered by the "PFS Legal" flag.)

Snipping a bunch of good stuff....
Sorry - no Potion of Gust of Wind... 'cause while I am sure it would be a humor item to play in the game (just the visuals would cause a lot of humor in many younger players), the spell can't be made into a Potion (which reqires the spell to have a target of one or more creatures - and it has no target, just an area of effect...).

You could do a scroll of Gust of Wind, right? That's one of the things that still confuses me from time to time - Spells that can be made into potions or scrolls.

It can be a scroll, but unless it is on your class spell list and you are of adequate caster level to cast it, you need to make one or more UMD rolls. Potions require no rolls, simply consume and gain the effect.

If it's on your list and you AREN'T of sufficient level, it's just a caster level check. And a really, really easy one at that.

If you have anything you want to add to the Essential Gear list or have any other workarounds to add, just send me a Private Message, and I'll update the document.

You have the Potion of Air Bubble listed as a workaround for the lack of Air Crystals but it is from Ultimate Combat so is no eligible for Core.

Thanks for the catch. It's fixed now.
