I made a post a few days ago about a character of mine, it went well the post served its purpose. But my GM didn't like the character I built he said it would "overshadow other members of the party (mostly the rouge)" and he asked me to change my character in such a way as to completely put me of the idea of playing it, so the other option was to make a new character guess which one I chose. The main problem my GM had with my old character was he was a vivisectionist alchemist and he feared (and rightly so) that I would overshadow the rouge in the party and that there would be no way to let the rouge shine without in turn making me better as well.
So I am now tasked with making my new character, the other members of the party are a rouge who I have mentioned and a gunslinger (there is also a fighter that is there occasionally but not often enough to be relevant). My fist thoughts are a magus as that is somewhat like a alchemist 2/3 spell progression and 3/4 BAB but is different enough that my GM will be ok with it. So mostly I am asking what would be the best class for this group, we need someone who can do magics but we also need someone who can mix it up in melee as we have no real front line, my last character was a summoner that all the mobs rushed at and killed instantly it was partly my fault as well because I stood to close but still I died in one turn.
We are playing rise of the rune lords and we are level 3, the only character creation rules are that it must be published by Paizo so no 3pp and that it must make some sense as far as the world of Golarion is concerned example a undead cleric of Pharasma would be a big no.
Thanks for any advice on the subject as I'm not sure what to play, if all else fails I will play a kensai blackblade/hexcrafter staff magus (not sure which one of those I like better either).

I personally would be hesitant to play with a GM who wants to coddle another player that much, but here's my advice:
Play a full caster. Something along the lines of a God Wizard (buff your alies, sit back and watch them have the fun knowing you made it possible). Your group need some casting, and if your GM is prone to baby his players he'll probably be put off by ANY class that will outshine another.
This provides much needed utility to the group without overtly outshining the group.

Your party seems to be missing a lot (No Arcane, No Divine, No Buffing). Fortunately, we can knock out divine and buffing in one build. Since you played a summoner before, can I interest you in being a tankier summoner?
I'm, Proposing a Summoning Cleric (based off the reach cleric build), I'd focus mostly on Summoning less on melee, that should help your action economy as you'll have more creatures fighting for you. I would also suggest the Evangelist Cleric Archetype of Sarenae (for the Heroism Subdomain).
If you can get your charisma high enough, the flag bearer feat, adding a banner of ancient kings latter on.
Wear a MW or greater buckler, mount the flag on a longspear (later getting the dueling enchantment on the spear), and hold it with hand containing the buckler. (Protip, Always wear spiked gauntlets = always armed/threatening). Buy yourself a Consecrated, Reliquary MW Scimitar[/url] attached to your other arm by a weapon cord, let it be your divine focus (Saranae loves her Scimitars).
Round 1:
Standard: Blessing of Fervor
Swift: Start Inspire Courage (+3 Competence bonus on attack and damage rolls. 1d6 sonic damage from song of discord feat.)
Move: Channel Positive Energy (With selective channel, quick channel and justice alternate channeling to provide a +3 channel bonus to AC, and attack rolls made on a charge (This is amazing for pouncing characters and mounted characters as this effectively eliminates the downside to charings while giving an added incentive))5ft shift closer to better position.
Bonuses at the Top of Round 1 at start of your turn:
+3 Competence to Attack, Damage, and Saves against fear.
+2 Morale bonus to Attacks, saves, and skill checks. (For those within range)
+3 Channel Bonus on AC, Attack rolls on a charge.Round 2: By now most of the group should be in positions to start dealing damage if they haven’t already started wiping people out after that big bunch of bonuses you just dropped on them.
Free: Maintain inspire courage.
Swift: Quicken (rod), Extended (BOF) Sanctuary.
Standard: Depends on situation and build sometimes Communal Air Walk, Bless Weapon, or status removal. Often like to summon things at this point.

A rogue and a gunslinger? DM doesn't want you to steal the party's thunder?
Make a buff-focused cleric that can still lay the beatdown in melee. Be flank buddies with the rogue, take domains that make you feel more like a martial character.
Glory domain would be alright thanks to Heroism effects; Tactics Domain would let your party have more chances to go first at these low levels; Destruction would be solid; Rage also solid. You could pick the Animal domain for an animal companion, which would add more muscle to the group. You'd get it in 1 level, and you could take Boon Companion at level 5 to make its level equal yours.
But yeah, cleric. I vote cleric, but focus more on bludgeoning faces with divine might and less on healbot. Just kill stuff with all them buffs, and share said buffs with your team.

Rynjin he isn't coddling them that much it is just that this is the rouges first time playing a rpg and he doesn't want scare/bore her to death, mostly because we need as many players as we can get. But I do dislike that he let her play a rouge given that he knows that it is one of worst classes in the game.
B.A. Robards thanks for the detailed answer however I have actually played almost that exact character before on 2 different occasions suffice it to say I want a change of pace. But that is one of the best non summoner summoner builds in the game imho. Also I wasn't a summoner the class I was a sorcerer who focused on summoning just thought I should clarify that (sad thing Is I built it so it wouldn't take off till level 11 and I died at level 3).
Well the group consensus is to play a cleric so a cleric I shall be. And as always thank you all for the advice and the quick responses.

Playing the same thing over and over again can suck. I'm always the most flexible when it comes to what characters I'll play. Creativity as they say requires limits, so I always wait until the other players have their ideas, and then I bat clean up. This leads to me always playing the disable device/knowledge/skill monkey role, with a side dish of ranged (my friends seem to love melee or magic). I'm just lucky there are so many not-rogue "rogues" these days.

I'd be tempted to tell the GM to push the Rogue player in a Slayer/Investigator direction. As someone who's first character was a Core Monk, I can testify to the fact that playing a garbage class with a group of far more experienced players is not fun at all.
